Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Wolf Eyes with Richard Pinhas  Live in the WFMU Studio   Options Engineered by Ernie Indradat & Mike Cades    Richard Pinhas has long been regarded as one of France's seminal experimental composers and musicians. His 1970's combo Heldon were severe competition for the Krautock first string, and his continual forays into electronic and progressive sounds were highlighted by his Robert Fripp-like approaches to guitar. Over the years Pinhas has produced excellent solo material, influencing many in the '80s new wave and ambient worlds. Today Pinhas plays electric guitar on Brian's show sitting in with Michigan's legendary Wolf Eyes, who know a thing or two about outer explorations. As an added bonus, Wolf Eyes will feature Aaron Dilloway who's been on the bench for a few years, stirring up some alien weirdness in the WFMU studios today with bandmates John Olson and Mike Connelly.   Tue. 10/12/10 3:25pm Matt from Springfield:

So this is Richard Pinhas here in Heldon? Pretty awesome stuff!
@dc pat: Is there an interesting anecdote to go with that amount of fruit?
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:25pm jeff-m:

listening on the radio Looms. went it was OK, not the best, but i was eager to get back home since I'm sick. Worth going though. Nice to break my personal inertia
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:25pm dc pat:

GOOD GUESS! Actually "Naked", that's the contents on the label anyway...
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:26pm dc pat:

nope, just trying to force some fruit into my body.
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:28pm dc pat:

well there's an anecdote but not interesting at all: if I don't put something in my stomach before I ride home, I get to pre-bonk stage when I arrive and am dying of hunger.
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:29pm D:

I'm about to download a bowl of fruit.
Tue. 10/12/10 3:30pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

don't open the fruit file, it has a virus
Tue. 10/12/10 3:30pm Matt from Springfield:

@dc pat: Good, safe idea. Don't go pre-bonk while driving--go pre-bonk AFTER you get home! The sugar in the fruit doesn't crash you, though?
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:31pm Looms:

Take care of yourself, Jeff.
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:33pm dc pat:

I'm not out there long enough on the way home. I'm more careful on a longer ride in.
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:33pm Jim:

Sounds like the Black Lips kinda
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:34pm D:

Sounds like George W. Bush.
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:34pm jeff:

New Sic Alps!?
Tue. 10/12/10 3:34pm Matt from Springfield:

Liking this Jon Wayne!
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:35pm LC:

not a fan
Tue. 10/12/10 3:35pm Matt from Springfield:

Anyone else try to bid on WFMU Auction items?
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:36pm paul:

this jon wayne album is hilarious, i keep meaning to listen to it again
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:36pm Xavi:

i need to look actually before it's over, if it's not ever yet
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:39pm Xavi:

i don't see any auction items. what's the link?
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:40pm D:

I want to bid on the "have Wolf Eyes play your office holiday party" item.
Tue. 10/12/10 3:41pm Matt from Springfield:

VIBRATORS!!
@Xavi: Sorry, it actually ended today. I did serious bidding wars on about 4 items, but was outbid on all of them.

But there's a big consolation--at least I was thus able to force the other bastards to cough up more money for the station!
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:41pm Xavi:

@Matt: right on!
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:41pm LC:

Auction: http://donations.ebay.com/charity/charity.jsp?NP_ID=40024
Tue. 10/12/10 3:42pm Matt from Springfield:

@LC: Are there any items left?
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:42pm LC:

  Tue. 10/12/10 3:43pm LC:

i.e, the dave matthews fan art!!
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:45pm Waco's Ghost:

Did we ever figure out who Jon Wayne really was/were (Jackofficers, maybe?)
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:46pm dc pat:

I tried for a Zap comic, #0. not dedicated enough though...
Tue. 10/12/10 3:48pm Damon Lee Roth:

Jon Wayne is Jim Goodall...also of Whitehouse, Medicine, etc....
Tue. 10/12/10 3:49pm Matt from Springfield:

The Joy Division record is still up, but it's $51--I was going to give that to a friend who likes Joy Division/New Order...but there are a LOT of cheaper LPs I can get for a better value! (No offense, unnamed friend!)
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:50pm paul:

<3 dj nate
Tue. 10/12/10 3:51pm Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Damon Lee Roth!
No wiki, but it mentions a song by Medicine on "The Crow" soundtrack. Some pages mention a Jim Goodall in a re-formed Flying Burrito Brothers band--is THAT the same Jim Goodall?
Tue. 10/12/10 3:52pm Damon Lee Roth:

ya! Same guy!
Tue. 10/12/10 3:52pm Damon Lee Roth:

http://www.discogs.com/artist/Jim+Goodall
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:54pm Waco's Ghost:

Hmmm.. Flying Burritos makes sense, Whitehouse not so much. Could there be two Jim Goodalls?
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:55pm Waco's Ghost:

Speaking of Country Music, DJ Brian, could you confirm there's a cover of a Sade song on the Rebel album you played last week? (Waiting for my copy)
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:55pm don:

oh snap, epic electronic throwbacks!
Tue. 10/12/10 3:56pm Damon Lee Roth:

ha...ya..doesn't make sense...but it's the same guy.. He was also in LAFMS connected Debt Of Nature...and Severed Head in a Bag was like...noisy punk if I remember correctly...
  Tue. 10/12/10 3:57pm BT:

Yep, Sade's "Maureen"
Tue. 10/12/10 3:57pm Damon Lee Roth:

Voice Of America...one of my favorite records of all time... life changing...
Thanks Brian!
Tue. 10/12/10 3:58pm Matt from Springfield:

Thank YOU, Damon! What an eclectic guy, that Jim Goodall...
Tue. 10/12/10 3:58pm Matt from Springfield:

I like this Cabaret Voltaire; the perfect pairing for Camembert Electrique...
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:02pm Waco's Ghost:

BT:
Yep, Sade's "Maureen"

  Tue. 10/12/10 4:03pm quincy hoist:

  Tue. 10/12/10 4:05pm Xavi:

Tue. 10/12/10 4:06pm Matt from Springfield:

Singles going steady! From all DJs?
A victory at last for the neglected 45s!
Tue. 10/12/10 4:07pm Matt from Springfield:

@Brian: Maybe not a 7" vuvuzela record, but I'm sure there's a whole 33 side devoted to the vuvuzela somewhere!
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:08pm LC:

working on it
Tue. 10/12/10 4:09pm Matt from Springfield:

Black Metal, Black Magic...now there's a Black Math.
Are you TRYING to lure out the nerdy noiseheads, Brian?
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:09pm dc pat:

hey, speakin of which, what happened to the vuvuzela button on YouTube? That was great.
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:09pm Vuvuzela Jingle:

whoops on Nate! Yes! Chi-town solid
Tue. 10/12/10 4:10pm Matt from Springfield:

@dc pat: Really? Was it a button you pressed to make that sound?
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:11pm D:

I meant to listen to new Brian McB single the other day.
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:12pm dc pat:

yeah, it was hilarious. you could be watching some singer/songwriter video for example, and instantly spruce it up with some vuvuzelas--little soccer ball button.
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:13pm dc pat:

...not that I even know what "singer/songwriter" means...
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:14pm still b/p:

Tue. 10/12/10 4:14pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

I've got to stop using cliches soon
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:15pm quincy hoist:

Righteous sounds no matter where the footwerk fount sprayeth forth from. Air horn is still >>> vuvuzela so sayeth the booties of our planet.
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:16pm dc pat:

didn't see that one still b/p--I'm about to go scare the hell out of my boss...
Tue. 10/12/10 4:17pm Matt from Springfield:

@dc pat: Cool! I've recorded sounds for my own uses, I oughta find a good vuvuzela sample to record and play into other things, where appropriate of course.
Tue. 10/12/10 4:17pm Matt from Springfield:

@DCE: Like the plague! I wonder if there's such a thing as a cliche plague, where 1/3 of the cliches perish and we advance from the Dark Ages of cliches to the Renaissance...
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:19pm dw:

O YAA!!!
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:21pm still b/p:

Ohh, if the major news organizations could only be bitten by carrier fleas so the cliche population could be devahSTATED...
  Tue. 10/12/10 4:23pm nick:

in the wake of these comments, I have no cliche to say.
