Dan B:
Good morning everyone! Very sad to be moving from this slot due to all the great connections and comments from you lot. But the new slot is absolutely super for me in many ways and I hope you can still set your Sunday alarms to the archives!

Bas, NL:
I had a great night with a special show by Z'EV. What an amazing artist!! Could you work in some Z'EV today?
|
Sun. 10/3/10 6:17am
Dan B:
@Bas, absolutely, I can get some Z'ev going on in a few minutes, thanks for the great suggestion! @? - Yes, Maureen Tucker appears to have gone over to the Tea Party side for whatever reasons...unless it's another Mo Tucker who looks *just like* our Mo Tucker. I played her little sound-bite from that newscast a few times during the Chase track back there.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 6:24am
andy/s:
The Mo Tucker solo stuff is so good every time I hear any of it. Dunno about that Tea Party thing. I know a lot of people around here get more conservative as they get older... Best of luck in the new timeslot of course Dan. If I made that move I would be tempted to turn the show into a dance party.

I think you're playing Kayleigh at the wrong direction, Dan

Chris Isaak would do a great Sensitive Danzig cover.

Got it: it's some kind of trailer for your next record-smashing show.

Sun. 10/3/10 6:48am
Billy Jam:
Sunday mornings here in NYC also won't be quite the same without you Dan. Trying to remember when was it that you began in this time slot?
|
Sun. 10/3/10 6:49am
Dan B:
@Looms, yes, shades of record smashings to come! @ Elwyn, Marillion is one of my deepest darkest guilty pleasures and I am exorcising it this morning. Amy Brumley, if you're out there, I blame it on you - jigsaw puzzles in the winter of 1983-84. But fondly, as I recall was a dimwitted little monkey I was back then. @Andy, that is a fabulous idea. Johnny Cash does one, maybe we should hear that today. @Zax, hi! Nice to see you here. I hope I righted, or wronged, my mistake with the backwards Marillion, But that forward one was for Keili, who was all set to do this show today due to a misapprehension that the new schedule started this morning.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 6:50am
Dan B:
@Billy, thanks! I was trying to remember that too. I think it's been 5 years now.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 6:50am
Looms:
I have to confess i was a Marillion fan in my teens...
|
Sun. 10/3/10 6:56am
xaz:
Now let's see you talk backwards, smartass!
|
Sun. 10/3/10 7:12am

Sun. 10/3/10 7:34am
Derek B:
Sunday morning Shakey, nothing wrong with that. I'm a newbie, congrats on the schedule bump.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 7:37am
Dan B:
@Zax, I'll give it a try. @Sara, thank you! Hope you can come along to Mon nights. @Derek, this new Neil album has some great guitar sounds on it -- not sure if I care yet about the Daniel Lanois production influence.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 7:41am
Derek B:
Cheers Dan, will check that out the guitars are great I agree.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 7:43am
fred:
Good luck with you new spot, Dan. My time zone won't let me join you, but thanks for the great shows over the years.
|

Great Z'ev track Dan! Thanks!

This song brings me back to 1992/93. long live STORMrave and NASA. Too many zonked nights in warehouses

dale:
morning mr dj, crack of dawn. re: neil young, landing on water is an experiment that shouldn't have been. cheers!
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:01am
Bas, NL:
Z'ev told me yesterday a lot of his work had suffered by poor mastering or recording in the past. He's now re-releasing some old stuff where he reworked the mastering.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:10am
Dan B:
@Bas, I assumed he wasn't particularly happy about it. Glad to hear there may be remastered releases. @dale, heh, I never listened to Landing on Water, actually. @Charles, the olden days, eh? Where were there warehouses? @fred, thanks!
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:13am
andy/s:
Well this is a hot jam. :( Save this one for the record smashing.

|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:25am

Some Legendary Stardust Cowboy material would sound nice at this point. Great set!
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:26am
sulfur:
hey dan! wanna pick out records with me tommorow?
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:31am
Dan B:
@Sulphur -- yes, absolutely! We forgot to do that last night! Let's do it later today. @Looms, nice suggestion, I'll see if I can dig him up. @Kenny, sorry to be leaving in many ways, but it's overall a much better slot for me. Try to catch the archives if you can! @Oscar, my can is *always* stuck out

I'm not so sure about Koenji Hyakkei. Arbete & Fritid meet the Muppets?
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:42am
Dan B:
@Tom, they are pretty funny. And can be a bit much at times. I found that I liked them a lot more after I saw a video of them performing here at WFMU -- seeing it live is pretty great.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:43am
Graeme, Australia:
Congrats for the Monday Airborne Event, Dan. Your show will be hugely missed on Sunday nights here.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:47am
Tom L:
@Dan B I can imagine that. Maybe their over-the-top compositions need some live context. Circle works a lot better for me. Similar vein, but different blood type.

Dear Dan - As an early riser in BC, I've been tuning in about mid-program on Sundays. Even though you're moving to Mondays, I think you could keep opening with "Sunday Morning" and perhaps start a movement to change the name of Monday to Sunday. Could be a good way to dispell some of that Tea Party energy. (I'm not really surprised to hear that Mo Tucker is a Tea Partier (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/oct/01/velvet-underground-tea-party-us). I've met many rabidly right wing rockers over the years. I think they fear that cap and trade will make the electric bills on their amps go out of sight.)

Sun. 10/3/10 8:49am
Bas, NL:
I'll be happily listening the Monday night shows Dan! And it must be awesome to finally get to sleep late on Sundays! Oh, no.. i forgot.. kids.. :)
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:51am
Davice:
Even though you are moving to Monday; I'm glad you're still on the air!
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:55am
Tom L:
Believe it or not, some of Dan's listeners are from the U.S. And some are even from the same time zone! Monday night 9-12 is called Prime Time, and is a huge deal -- both for Dan and those of us in the area.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:56am
Graham Stark:
Dan, Hi from England. I'll miss spending late mornings here with you - it makes all the marking I have to do go so well. And Happy birthday!
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:57am
andy/s:
I will also be happily listening to the Monday night shows & commenting, just on Tuesday evening probably! Happy Birthday too! Yes, it's prime time where it should be.
|
Sun. 10/3/10 8:57am
