ALF of Hip Hop Slam:

Billy, if you're going to interview the Rev. Billy today, can you please ask him where does he feel the current economy is going?
  12:07pm
Giovanni Trapattoni:

Billy Jam - we love your show and always listen to it before a game to get us in the right frame of mind. Unfortunately the match against Russia today kicks off before your show starts - so I am trying to get them to play it over the Aviva stadium PA but doubt they will go for it......We will catch the last hour anyway. Wish us luck! - Oh and Shay Given says to say "hello" to your dad!

Billy, could you play some Heatwave? I saw a doc on them on TVOne, and they were the nicest band with the worst breaks (except for Rod Temperton who made a bajillion dollars writing hits for Michael Jackson.)

  4:25pm
Ausconor:

  5:26pm
Cecile:

Punk and indie were pretty powerful movements.
But being there for hiphop was great.
  5:31pm
Cecile:

Exactly, Billy! And punk and late boomers were involved in the anti apartheid movement in the 80s
  5:44pm
steve:

haha... i remember a good friend of mine asked billy why he didn't do more to acknowledge punk at a talk at vassar college many years ago! so funny to hear him mention it now.
  5:45pm
Todd 76%:

Many punkers were also early hip hop fans also, especially US hardcore punkers. A Run-DMC mixtape sounded great right after a Discharge cassette when you're, say, driving 6 hours to Syracuse NY in an unheated van to play for six people in a blizzard...I can personally vouch for this ; )
Another great show, Mr. Jam!
  5:47pm
Scott McDowell:

Bomb the suburbs had a huge effect on me when I read it in college. I think I bought 5 copies b/c I kept passing my copy to other people. Tuned in late- have to listen to the archive!
