Listener comments!

  12:16am
Pete:

Visiting NYC.

Wow, Johnny, wow.
  12:19am
Pete:

Also reading Baudrillard's _Simulacra and Simulation_.

Wow, Johnny, wow.
  12:31am
Joe:

Hi, Pete!
  1:02am
Meghan:

Mr McGasko.... themed up a World's Fair set.... very impressive. I wouldn't be able to do a whole show of that! hehe. I did, however, go to the on in Knoxville Tennessee. I am glad to hear that they still have them. And for good World's Fair reading, read Devil in the White City
  1:05am
Joe:

Hey, Meghan! Hope your reception tonight was excellent--it ended too early! I didn't get into town until 10. I'm really mad about forgetting the Houdini 78, "Roosevelt Opens the World's Fair." The Best Record of the Set! Ugh!
  1:06am
Meghan:

it was! I was very amazed at how many showed up, despite the heat! And I found out that Trouble lives rather close to me and showed up to the reception as well! Go figure!
  1:08am
Joe:

That's very cool. Trouble is sort of like the Queen of Jersey City, you know!
  1:14am
Meghan:

Well off to bed for me.... Glad to have caught you tonight! Say hi to Daniel if he's still hanging around! night night
  1:16am
Tim in Florida:

That Lost Girls comp is one of a bunch of mix tapes compiled by K Records founder Calvin Johnson. You can check them out here: http://www.oogaboogastore.com/shop/music/detail/Johnson-Mixtapes.html

Looks like some cool tapes, but no song listings given. It's a surprise.
  1:17am
Joe:

G'night, Meghan! Sleep well!
  1:18am
Joe:

Hey, Tim, thanks! I should've figured that out since there are several great tapes here that have the same label on them, and I knew that one of them was from C. Johnson.
  1:20am
Tim in Florida:

No prob, just found out myself. Liked that song, was intrigued by the "no label/cassette" listing, and went hunting on the web to try and find it.
  1:21am
emma b:

hey Joe! Really liked the politically incorrect worlds fair records early in the show! Is that last "Black Jaspers" track... do they do that "I want my face on the radio" song? wooot thanks mcEmcee mcgasco
  1:23am
Joe:

Thanks, Tim, much appreciated! Yes, Emma, the Black Jaspers do that face on the radio song--that's the one I almost played, but I'm sick of being hot. Ya velcome!
  1:30am
Sue:

Hey, Joe!!! Single File time!!
  1:31am
Joe:

Hey, Sue! Hawkwind time!
  1:32am
emma b:

HAWK F***ING WIND! HELLLLLL YEAH MAN
i wasn't dancing but i am now. :)
  1:34am
Joe:

Eggscellent!
  1:39am
Tim in Florida:

I'm sensing a theme here. What's next, "Sky Pilot"? Oh wait, nevermind, you'd have to flip that one over halfway through.
  1:41am
Joe:

Damn, wish I had that one on single!
  1:43am
Mike Sin:

Hawkwind to Rob Calvert solo... on 45, no less. Hawkwind's version of "Ejection" ended up as a bonus track on the CD reissue on "Doremi Fasol Latido"
  1:45am
Joe:

Did it really? I knew I could count on you, Mike! That record blows me away...
  1:48am
Tim in Florida:

Funny thing, that "Sky Pilot" 45. It's split into two parts (even though it's no longer than, say, "Hey Jude"), but it's in stereo (probably one of the first stereo 45s). At least the US version is; the UK 45 version is in mono with a significantly different mix.
  1:51am
Joe:

Wow, Tim, you knows your sky pilots! I'd love to have the UK mono mix...I love the whole Pt. 1/Pt. 2 thing. Whenever I have a record like that, I always want to bookend with it.
  1:54am
Tim in Florida:

UK mono mix is on the 2004 CD remaster of "The Twain Shall Meet," by EB & the Animals. You might have it there.
  1:56am
Tim in Florida:

Stereo version is track 6. Mono single mix is split between tracks 9 & 10.
  1:56am
Joe:

I'll have to look. Would you believe I just bought that LP three weeks ago? True story! It was only 2 bucks. Alas, I'll have to find the CD for the bonus cuts...
  1:57am
Tim in Florida:

LOL nice pickup for $2. Gotta love the bargain bin.
  2:04am
Sue:

Yay!!! Bobby!
  2:04am
Sue:

You so rock!!! How beautiful!
  2:05am
Joe:

Jus' fer you, Sue!
  2:05am
Sue:

:) :) :)
  2:07am
Sue:

Oh my god... AND Kay??!! Yippee!!
  2:13am
Marmalade Kitty:

comforting tunes for a lonesome cowgirl :)
  2:14am
Joe:

:)
  2:18am
emma b:

yes, daniel. i work all night.
  2:20am
Joe:

He believes you!
  2:22am
Tim in Florida:

That's an odd cover. Kinda cool, but odd.
  2:29am
Sue:

Joe, thank you for playing my request!
  2:30am
Joe:

My pleasure!
  2:38am
Marmalade Kitty:

..falling asleep to wfmu can be a strange experience!? when you wake up listening to some crazy track! sometimes scarey! You never know what sonic incarnation.. ;)
  2:41am
Joe:

I'll try not to be too scary, M. Kitty!
  2:48am
Marmalade Kitty:

..not necessarily your show Joe, It was a Vittorio Gelmetti track on Dan Blumin's show, an extended ear piercing monotone mononote, like a finger rubbing the rim of a glass amplified through marshall stacks!!! strange..!?
  2:49am
Joe:

That's our Dan!
  2:52am
Tim in Florida:

That was a cute little "In My Life" lift in the middle of that Lemon Pipers track.
  2:53am
Joe:

They did it so well it's hard to begrudge them!
  2:57am
Marmalade Kitty:

..but on the other hand, nothing beats waking to a great tune now and again!
  3:00am
Tim in Florida:

g'night.

Sky Pilot next week. Please?
