Fear & Trembling is sadly defunct. They had one little 3" cd release called The Sligo River in limited quantities on the defunct JMZ Records label (also released Tyondai Braxton's first CD). Members were Harry Rosenblum, saxamaphone; Noell Dorsey, vocal/keyboard/melodica; and Casey Block, guitar. They're all still doing great things, check them out on google. Looms:
Did anyone go to Ware and experience Craig Colorusso Sun Boxes yesterday?
|
Sun. 6/27/10 6:50am
Dan B:
Will be digging out a lot of old performances from the show today and a lot of spoken word/sound effects records. Even some music that's on records, too!
|

andy/s:
Morning/afternoon! This is good for soothing your mind ahead of the World Cup match
|
Sun. 6/27/10 7:22am
Dan B:
Hey Osmium -- you're up early! @Andy, unfortunately, no World Cup match for USA today. But I must admit, that 2nd Ghanaian goal was a fabulous play. It was a good match.
|
Sun. 6/27/10 7:24am
ununppennium:
this MUST be a banjo playing?
|
Sun. 6/27/10 7:30am
andy/s:
@Dan It was a great match! Really close overall, I think you only lost because Mick Jagger was in the stadium supporting you. I hope he doesn't turn up today.
|
Sun. 6/27/10 7:32am
Looms:
Dan, watch out! There's a doppelganger sitting beside you!

uranium:
@Andy,it was! | |
|
Sun. 6/27/10 7:38am
Dan B:
@ununpentium, that was definitely a banjo playing! @Andy, I agree -- it simply cannot help for Sir Mick to be rooting for us. I have to say that I am very pleased we came as far as we did, just because it makes Americans more likely to realize how great soccer/nonamerican football is
|
Sun. 6/27/10 7:44am
uranus:
just beacause it was 2:1 we'll still be playing in round of 16.
|
Sun. 6/27/10 7:45am
Tom L:
Fantastic show today, Dan. Just so you know, with those images in the Comments box, the Listener Comments column is killed on an iPad. Not that it matters. @Looms -- I was going to go to Sun Boxes, but went to see Omar Souleyman and Tinariwen instead. I really wish I'd been able to do both. And way to go Ghana! Down with nationalism.

@Tom: i wish i was ubiquitous too. I guess it was a nice gig anyway.

and made it down to the Apples in Stereo show at the sea port with fireworks... great day in nyc

Sun. 6/27/10 7:58am
moldymind 2:
this is funny. | |
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:00am
Dan B:
@Tom, yeah, it looks better after the comments are closed - you can pull the comments column narrower though, I think that helps. I can't believe I missed Tinariwen and Souleyman. @Moldymind2 - yes, TS needs to be slowed down a bit to sound a somber as he is, and Simon Wickham-Smith's bass-drone works well with him.
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:13am
Tom L:
@Dan B: on the iPad you can't do anything with the columns (they are fixed). Souleyman was the best of the three SummerStage performances yesterday, I thought. More inspired/inspiring. Tinariwen were fantastic, but the ecstasy isn't there in their music, so to follow Souleyman was a tough job.
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:27am
Looms:
This Double Leopards' track is insidiously disturbing my neurons. Excellent job.
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:28am
moldymind:
Souleyman's a good toaster, mc, his dj, beat guy was excellent and his show was exciting.... however... tinariwen played some great swampy slowed down grooves... hypnotic chugging rhythms... lots of soul... Ibrahim's Delta inspired blues stylings by way of Mali lifted the sound into an ecstatic deep trance... their set had the true spirit of the dead, not that group that played coney island yesterday....
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:34am
andy/s:
@Dan - the soccerball is a good sport, it's low scoring and sometimes has long periods where nothing much happens, but who doesn't love long meditative stuff? @peoplewhosawsouleyman He was over here in May and someone crowdsurfed over me in a banana costume during his set. It was a real party!
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:40am
andy/s:
@uranus was that USA Ghana game like when you beat England 1-1?
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:44am
Tom L:
@moldymind I was right uop front and could see off to the sides of the stage the whole time. There was something disturbing about seeing Tinariwen off stage watching Souleyman in Western clothes, black t-shirts, jeans, and then appearing on stage in their costumes. The clothes should be there just for effect (or affect for that matter). But, they still put on a great show.
|

Enjoying the show this am
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:45am
moldymind:
my three and a half year old daughter was with me yesterday and she loved the show at summer stage.... souleyman and tinariwen... they were both great and the bellydancer was a real surprise... she came out and stood in the crowd for the tinariwen set, stage front....
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:46am
Dan B:
@all, so jealous about missing the Souleyman/Tinariwen. But at least I could Tinariwen on Rob W's WFMU show the other week live from the Bell House.
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:47am
Tom L:
I meant to say the clothes should NOT be there just for effect... I was there with my 9 year old son and he loved it too. It was great seeing so many kids there getting into it.
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:52am
Davice:
DB keep up the good work | |
|
Sun. 6/27/10 8:57am
moldymind:
i was at the bellhouse show last winter... they're playing there tonight... but i can't make it... stage costumes are showbiz... everybody's got their stage attire.... i imagine when they recorded their last album with a mobil unit in the desert they wore their robes and stuff... must be tuff walking through airports like that... enjoy the day, the baby woke up and i gotta do laundry...
|
