  9:11am Liz B.:

We're still working out some kinks, folks, so sorry for the few momentary blips. Will try to make sure we get it ironed out and running smoothly!
  9:19am chris:

I'm getting alot of high end noise but it's not gonna stop me from listening!
  9:20am still b/p:

That's heavy cobra hiss.
  9:21am Hugo:

The hissing of summer lawns ...
  9:22am listener james from westwood:

"High-end noise and momentary blips" sounds like a capsule description of a show I'd listen to! GTDS is coming through for me in northern NJ! Welcome back to Fridays, Doug!
  9:23am Merv:

Crazy hiss, but makes it sound more like a record... Kind of endearing...
  9:24am Drummer Some:

Merv, that WAS a record!
  9:25am a fan:

Sounds great on here on Wall Street. Buy!
  9:31am Merv:

Perfect then...
  9:35am Parq:

DrumSum, late, but I made it. Dunno about others, but it's a little distorted on my end, like you've got the gain turned up too high. But it's working, and I'm delighted to be listening.
  9:38am Parq:

Okay, listening to mike break now, definitely distorted from over-gain. Anyone else hearing that?
  9:38am adam:

sounds great in buffalo
  9:39am Al:

Lift off!!!! Congratulations, Doug - hearing you loud and clear.
  9:39am texas scott:

little distortion,yes.
  9:39am Bill:

Your voice is coming through - little distorted, but good to hear.
  9:40am Hugo:

Voice coming through loud and clear, but a little too loud, a bit distorted ...
  9:40am Cecile:

Dammit. Cant' hear the stream. But I"ll check in and say "hi".
Any way you could get it on that groovy beta player.
  9:40am listener james from westwood:

@ a fan: I am long GTDS with a price target of HELL YEAH!
  9:40am Parq:

Whoa, whatever you just did, it worked.
  9:40am trs:

Sound is growing better. Hey, and I like the link to this playlist on the front page. Makes choosing slightly more difficult going that route..
  9:41am Jack:

Yep, a little distorted in my headphones here in upstate NY.
But it's still good to hear you Doug.
  9:48am Rey:

Nice to have you back! Coming in nice & clear here in midtown NYC.
Fridays mornings are soooo much better when you're on.
  9:49am jill:

ahhh, now my friday mornings are right again. Nice to have you back...
We'll be in da burgh on Wednesday night.
  9:51am jk:

I'm hearing a lot of weird noise on the stream...it sounds like country music!
  9:53am Toby:

same as it ever was...
  9:55am monica:

Doug, coming in clear as a bell! I'm blown away that you got the Motherlode up and running so smoothly so quickly. Congrats to you and the folks behind the scenes for making this happen,
  9:57am ∂avid:

HAHAHHAH!!! this is great!
  9:57am Parq:

Yeah, the trouble with being in love with a mermaid is you've got to get used to fellatio all the time. Of course, for some guys, that would be a little slice of heaven.
  9:59am Paul Sherratt:

Echoing Monica's message - from a position just a little further to the east !
  10:03am Hugo:

Yep, voice coming through fine and clear here in the Far East ...
  10:10am Drummer Some:

Sorry to be less chatty than usual here in Commentsland!
  10:11am Merv:

Anyone else using iTunes keep getting kicked off the stream?
  10:13am Rey:

it happened to me, but just once
  10:14am Hugo:

Congrats to the Motherloder and all and sundry for turning a midsummer day's dream into a midsummer day's stream! Everything's working fine here in the very far East.
  10:14am Merv:

Happened a couple times so far... Glad I'm not the only one... It takes me a minute to notice, since most of my music library is stuff GTDS would play anyway... :)
  10:15am Paul Sherratt:

Merv,
I'm using i-tunes - no problem so far ( the link was put its own Motherlode file yesterday )
  10:18am Hugo:

Using Winamp. Got kicked off at the beginning, but running continuously for the last 50 minutes.
  10:21am Bill:

Using VLC, no problems at all
  10:22am raissa:

just tuned in and to the Sun no less. you did it doug congratulations!
  10:23am ∂avid:

iTunes is working fine for me, other than a strange squeaking sound. (hehehe)
  10:23am Vivian:

Merv-yes, the stream keeps dropping in Itunes.
  10:24am Parq:

No iTunes problem here. I'm running the Mac OS, if that matters.
  10:24am Drummer Some:

Sorry about the bugs, folks. We promise to have this all worked out by 2013!
  10:25am Liz B.:

Hey everyone, we're going to up the capacity of the stream (that's why folks are being kicked off). We'll have to do a quick restart so there will be a blip, but after that all should be better.
  10:26am Merv:

Great! Thanks Liz!
  10:31am doron:

nobody should be dropping out and there should be enough capacity for all comers (I gave liz some bad info earlier). I'm listening from home and things have been solid.so far 2 people with dropping issues, both using itunes, yes?
  10:31am listener gary:

Not matter which of your links I click on I only get a windows "download Real Player" page. Even after I downloaded it I still get that page. Is there a magic button some place to acturally use that program? Lost in Matamoras.
  10:32am Parq:

I just checked, and Annie and 'Cile are over with Hatch. 'Cile can't get this stream at work, which will also be my problem once my vacation is over.
  10:32am monica:

listening on winamp. no probs here.
  10:33am sinner:

...who drank all the mimosas and bloody marys????
  10:34am eric:

Hooray Doug, hooray GTDS, hooray Lodestream!
  10:35am Merv:

Yup-- just got dropped again... Using Windows XP Pro and iTunes 9.1.0.79 on a work computer... Oops! just happened again... Maybe related to updates to the playlist and/or comments?
  10:35am Vivian:

Yes, listening to Itunes version 9.03.15.Also, I access WFMU via Firefox, not sure if that helps..Still, good to hear you Doug!
  10:36am Al:

Sounding great, Doug. No dropouts so far with MoviePlayer on Ubuntu.
  10:37am PMD:

Poor Hatch has to compete with you! Well, at least to us online folks. Great to hear!
  10:38am Liz B.:

Hey Merv & Vivian, we're looking into this and have enough capacity for everyone now. Do you guys have drop-out problems with WFMU's 128k MP3 stream normally or is this a new issue that you've come across today? You can e-mail me w/ gory details lizb at wfmu dot org. Thanks for your reports so we can try to fix!
  10:39am doron:

listener gary: try this link - http://wfmu.org/wfmu_motherlode.pls

doug: looks like we'll need to update the listen to wfmu live on the web link at the top of the playlist
  10:41am trs:

listener gary- you might have to copy/paste that link directly into your player>open rather than going through your local browser's config handling of http:// .pls.
  10:48am doron:

itunes people: try setting buffer a bit higher to see if it helps:

http://theappleblog.com/2008/10/06/change-itunes-buffer-size-for-smoother-streaming/
  10:51am Vivian:

Doron- if I experience another drop, I will try your suggestion. So far, so good...No dropouts..
  11:00am jk:

hey, I think I posted that Impossibles song, did you get that from monrakplengthai?
  11:02am Drummer Some:

JK,
Yes, that is precisely where I got The Impossibles. And a bunch of other stuff in that set, too. I would have mentioned it, but forgot the name of the blog. Thanks!@
  11:05am Drummer Some:

JK,
You are Mr. Monrakplengthai? Hioly sht! You are royalty in my book. Please email me.
  11:07am jk:

no, not me. I was just a guest poster for that one. mrpt is a friend, though. He's in Thailand right now, I think.
re: that impossibles track: I was playing that record a couple weeks ago and someone alerted me that it was a cover of a chicago song. I am unfamiliar with chicago's body of work so didn't identify it myself
  11:08am Drummer Some:

Well thanks for putting up that amazing item!
  11:12am jk:

my pleasure, so glad that you're continuing to be on the web-air, love the show!

Tried the copy and paste. same result. every link on drummer some, fmu home page and other pages, and email...everyone of them comes up with that damn microsoft page. Best luck in Pittsburgh. See you around ...although I don't know where.
  11:22am trs:

listener gary, maybe this will help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PLS_(file_format)
  11:24am trs:

Wide range of players there you can download and install. Also http://wfmu.org/ssaudionet.shtml
  11:26am Drummer Some:

TRS:
Thanks for the tech back-up!
  11:28am trs:

Sure. Yep. You can also try fishing out the link in the playlist file. Copy and paste that one -- http://motherlode.wfmu.org:443
  11:31am ken:

  11:32am stefica:

good luck with the new project and new home, doug! itunes is working very well for me.
  11:32am Hugo:

With Winamp, it's fairly easy. Go to the File menu, select "Play URL" and paste the link into the box and away you go. But I suppose Wimamp users know that already.
  11:40am Todd 76%:

Just downloaded Winamp and got it to work right away... Bummed about the loss of the great Fred Anderson... RIP.
Thanks for all the great music (and download suggestions), Doug! Best of luck in Pittsburgh.
  11:44am Drummer Some:

Thanks Todd 76% and THANK YOU everyone for coming along this ride with me.
  11:46am Hatch:

Good morning to you also, Doug!
  11:50am Hugo:

Sad to hear about Fred Anderson. We have posted several Fred Anderson recordings over the years. Here's the most recent one:

  11:57am Chris:

Drummer Some - 1 Everything Else - 0.
Well played Doug!
  11:58am jk:

you could keep going, you know. I think Bryce is going to be a little late.
  12:00pm north guinea hills:

Awesome maiden show. 'tis a shame about Fred Anderson. :(
  12:01pm Drummer Some:

JK:
That made me laugh out loud. Bryce is God.
  12:02pm Hugo:

Bryce is nyce.
  12:07pm trs:

Not all that different a show in this new form. Glad to listen again.
  5:15pm Mary:

Seamless link for me via your newsletter in my inbox. But of course people who do things well almost always do them without flourish. Thanking you...
  10:03pm Van in DC:

Random drop in for a listen!
  10:11pm Doug Schulkind:

Van, just don't quiz me on these older shows. The all kind of blend together for me after a while!
  10:15pm Van in DC:

I would never do that to you, Master Drummer! I'm just enjoying all the wonderful new aural avenues that you open to my ears every time I listen to another of your shows. I really am constantly just dumbfounded at just how much is out there that is new to me that you bring to me. That is why I am SO GRATEFUL for you and this stream! And for the magical WFMU GTDS/R archive genie!

I'm loving it!!
  10:17pm Doug Schulkind:

After all these years and all these shows, I am still constantly dumbfounded, too. It is just so much damn fun being dumbfounded communally!
  10:21pm Doug Schulkind:

This was a significant show, Van. My penultimate show in NYC before moving to Pittsburgh.
  10:38pm Van in DC:

Wow. Doug, I truly hope good memories are associated. I'm loving the presentation. As usual, so much that I really love hearing, so much I never heard of. You more than anybody at WFMU put new artists on my "to-do" list to check out and learn more about.
  11:00pm Van in DC:

Another reason I LOVE this show so MUCH!! You never know what kind of set is up next, right? Earlier today I was enthralled by a saxophone set from another show...now, this Far East (mostly Thai) set is AWESOME! Love it all, just some sets set themselves apart, thanks to Mr. Drummer :)
  11:16pm Van in DC:

This has been a wonderful show. Doug's comments during the breaks have me really laughing at some points :)
  11:35pm Van in DC:

Who was that jk person? Whoever it was, I like them. Unless their initials ended up being Tom sh..oh never mind.
