Thanks Dan!

Sun. 6/20/10 6:45am Barry in Donegal,Ireland:

Enjoying the show here in Ireland. Thankfully it's not as early here but I am just up out of the old scratcher. Really love the music on your station, checking your show ouf for the first time won't be the last.

Sun. 6/20/10 6:53am Dan B:

@Barry, nice to have you along. Can you have some tea and rashers for me please? I didn't get any breakfast in the rush to get to the station for 6 AM. @Hector, glad to turn you on to them. I think most of their stuff is pretty easily available, maybe through cdbaby.com.

Sun. 6/20/10 6:55am Barry in Donegal,Ireland:

No problem Dan I will the rashers on now

Sun. 6/20/10 7:14am david in scotland:

whoa, another sacred harp gem

Sun. 6/20/10 7:16am Dan B:

@David, that Allison's Sacred Harp Singer's album collects a bunch of great recordings from old 78 rpm shellac found in dusty old attics and flea markets in the American South. Nice to hear those old old recordings of some of my favorite Sacred Harp tunes.

Sun. 6/20/10 7:39am annie:

yup.... very nice...

Sun. 6/20/10 7:41am Tom Hallock Hill L:

Colorusso to Messages = very inspired.

Sun. 6/20/10 7:46am Dan B:

I wish I could go see the Sun Boxes! They will be installed at the Important Records compound next Sat 6/26 (raindate: next Sun 6/27) -- http://importantrecords.com/sunboxes/ -- email john at importantrecords dot com for location information -- I believe it's in Ware, Massachusetts.

Sun. 6/20/10 7:52am >gadoliniuamericium:

what instrament is this?

Sun. 6/20/10 7:53am david in scotland:

oh this is good - sounds like a fiddle player i know ...

Sun. 6/20/10 7:54am annie:

i would so totally love to see the full-length version of latcho drom...does anyone know if it can be found on-line at all? youtube has snippets only and then not in any particular order. netflix is out due to no credit card..

Sun. 6/20/10 7:56am Dan B:

@gadoliniuamericium - this is a type of violin called a sorud. It's from a part of Pakistan called Baluchistan.

Sun. 6/20/10 7:57am Dan B:

@annie, sorry no idea. I saw it once and thought it was underwhelming, though I might feel different now.

Sun. 6/20/10 8:00am Looms:

Morning Dan and all. Am i late?...

Sun. 6/20/10 8:00am annie:

see. this is why i want to see it uncut and in order. i love the little bits, but the full version would be cool. it reminds me of a film i saw years ago called "before the rain", a serbo-croatian film..

Sun. 6/20/10 8:03am salis:

happy father's day

Sun. 6/20/10 8:14am Dan B:

@Salis - thanks kiddo! I'm glad you woke up in time to listen to my show!
@Annie, I *love* that movie Before the Rain, absolutely incredible. But Latcho Drom doesn't have a plot, it's just a melange, sort of an extended music video, if I remember correctly.
@Looms, welcome sleepyhead!

Sun. 6/20/10 8:20am annie:

yes, you're correct; the underlying theme, i believe, is one of illustrations of nomadic and gypsy lifestyles of particular regions..

Sun. 6/20/10 8:38am Looms:

The new album by Baby Dee is entitled A Book of Songs; not to be confused with A Book of Songs for Anne Marie which was released on Durtro many years ago, and which was a piano songs collection. Lots of confusion between these two records on the web...

Sun. 6/20/10 8:45am Looms:

Seems Baby Dee's website is the only one to make the difference... Grabed this album on cdr a few years ago at the end of a performance actually. I'm confused... I'm going back to sleep...

Sun. 6/20/10 8:47am Looms:

Yes it does: http://www.babydee.org/Updates2.htm

Sun. 6/20/10 8:53am tomasz.:

hey Dan! just tuned in. this Air record is ace!

Sun. 6/20/10 8:54am Tom Hallock Hill L:

What a great show today.

Sun. 6/20/10 8:57am silas:

i love you.

Sun. 6/20/10 8:57am Dan B:

Thanks all...and happy father's day to all the daddies. Hey Silas, are you coming to Meeting with me? Call my phone and tell me.
