My understanding is that if you hear a Mocklingbird doing it's thing at night after sunset, especially during late spring (May-June), it is one who hasn't found a mate that season. Encountered this for the first time last spring outside our bedroom window, and also made some great recordings of it.

hi Monica! i was able to catch bits of your show (thank God/dess for thee archives!!!) -- LOVELY! and YES, mockingbirds really ARE psychotic! my Mom's FAVORITE bird, they *also* used to TOTALLY torment my first kitty when i was a little kid!!!
