Cecile:
aw, Sly. So sad. So, so, so, so sad.
|
Tue. 4/27/10 1:01pm
Cecile:
I appreciate your respectful attitude, Joe. It's really easy to mock people who are struggling, and your continued support for Sly and other veteran performers who are going through a rough patch is really admirable.
|
Tue. 4/27/10 1:05pm
Rob W:
Cecile, you're so CBN! (Sorry, that's an in-joke...) But of course I feel the same way!
|
Tue. 4/27/10 1:06pm
dc pat:
I just want to know how you show up 4 hours late for ANYthing. Isn't it just considered canceled at that point? I guess if you're Sly Stone, it's different... What a guy--not mocking Cecile, he's amazing. RobW! Just wait until Wednesday!!...
|
Tue. 4/27/10 1:07pm
dc pat:
oops, that was meant for BOB W.
|
Tue. 4/27/10 1:07pm
Cecile:
I am CBN thru and thru. Cut me and I bleed modernistic. :) I do want to know that, too, dcp. Seriously.
|
Tue. 4/27/10 1:08pm
Cecile:
I think Joe is reminding us why people at Coachella would wait four hours for this guy...
|
Tue. 4/27/10 1:09pm
dc pat:
exactly. Sheesh, dumb question...

|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:19pm
Kaiser Catfish:
danke dc pat---grande riding in Bavaria---you can ride to the moon and never have to share the road with autos. And the routes are dotted with bier-stubes. no sense in getting dehydrated, ja?

Daisy:
Thank you for playing the LOVE is a DRUM SONG!!! that kid is rockin' and cute!!!!!!!!!! is there a whole album ?
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:25pm
Daisy:
Thank you for playing Bobby Fuller too! Making work day much more happy!
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:26pm
Cecile:
Why do you think that Bobby Fuller is always being rediscovered, and he hasn't gotten the recognition he should have? He had barely any clunkers and was a hell of a guitarist, singer and songwriter. That guitar line from the bee song could have been grafted onto a B-52s song and nobody would notice.
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:28pm
Tim:
Joe, I'm glad you included the premiere of Classy Freddy Blassy's best known saying as part of rock history!
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:31pm
Cecile:
Joe, are those "el paso rock" the same thing as the Bobby Fuller Tapes series Rhino put out a zillion years ago?
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:33pm
dc pat:
great version of Miserlou....OUCH...it's hot...
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:34pm
Joe B:
It was Del-Fi that put out that tape series, and I don't think they had the rights to! They rushed it out when the Norton ones hit the streets in '97 or 98. There is some overlap with the Norton series but I don't have 'em all in front of me right now to figure out how much! DJ Jumpy probably knows the scoop
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:36pm
Cecile:
No, I have one earlier, from the 80s. The Bobby Fuller Tapes, Vol 2. On Rhino. Hrm. I'll just have to sit down with that vinyl and the computer. Thanks!
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:38pm
Cecile:
vol one was Rhino, vol 2 was Voxx. I'll have to check against the Intertubes.
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:38pm
Joe B:
Oh! I only remember on Rhino was a best of!
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:41pm
Cecile:
I got one as a cutout. I think I have both, but it took me forever to find one of those. Maybe I don't. Maybe I should look at my records again some year. :/
|

seang:
I've really been digging Doug Sahm's album, DayDreaming at Midnight. It's got a slick production but the songs swing hard!
|
Tue. 4/27/10 2:50pm
Rubble:
That Spider record was cool. Reminded me of Eddie and the Hotrods

Tue. 4/27/10 3:03pm
Listener Jumpy:
Norton did a much more comprehensive job with the BF4 stuff. I had some of that other stuff, too, and sold it when I got the Norton. Hmm, B52's pretty much DID use that kind of guitar figure in their music. Surf and instrumentals from the '60s were a big influence on them.
|
Tue. 4/27/10 3:05pm
Listener Jumpy:
Bobby Fuller and the B52's were both really into the Ventures.
