Morning Dan and everyone else!
Sun. 2/7/10 6:11am
Héctor:
Good, good morning Dan, Tom et all!
Sun. 2/7/10 6:12am
Looms:
Good morning from France where the sun shines and the head aches.
Sun. 2/7/10 6:13am
Tom L:
And here just north of New York City the sun aches and the head shines.
Sun. 2/7/10 6:15am
Looms:
What's best?
Oh, what about the "snowpocalypse"? Big troubles?
Sun. 2/7/10 6:17am
Dan B:
Snow = no show. Maybe 2 cm in NYC.
Sun. 2/7/10 6:18am
Tom L:
Not sure which is best, or if there's really a discernible difference. The snowpocalypse turned out to be nothing for me -- I live 10 miles north of NYC and we did not get 1 snowflake. Went downtown Manhattan last night night and nothing there either. It all stayed south.

Morning all!
Dan I can't find my jazzfunk cassingle anyway. I think someone may have smashed it already. Just found some other terrible stuff though.
Sun. 2/7/10 6:28am
Looms:
Yes, Solhorn was great but i can't find any website related to Lille Kommune. Dan, are there any infos on the record?
Sun. 2/7/10 6:29am
Looms:
Oh, hello Andy! How was the gig by The Ex?
Sun. 2/7/10 6:35am
Dan B:
@Looms, the LP doesn't give a website, but says to contact tordenstok at gmail dot com.
Sun. 2/7/10 6:36am
Looms:
ok, found something here: http://www.myspace.com/solhorn
Sun. 2/7/10 6:37am

Hey Looms, it was great! All the horn players fit in really well with the rest of the band. They had little free jazz freakout bits in the songs where they would run around the stage and bump into each other. There was quite a bit of dancing too. Kat Ex is an amazing drummer. Picked up the Ex/Getatchew lp after the show too which is very good.
Sun. 2/7/10 6:43am
Looms:
@Andy: yes, it's nice to see this old band evolving without betraying its unique sound.
@Dan: your mix with Reich, CWT and Glass was awesome!
Sun. 2/7/10 6:50am
Rachel Malheure:
Was lookin' forward to an interesting audio poverty festival this weekend - it turned out that it took place last year, not this year and I haven't realized:-( so,I've a weekend-lack of good concerts. But Thnx for the fine non-live acts, Dan!
Sun. 2/7/10 6:51am
Tom L:
This last set from Reich on has been fantastic!
Sun. 2/7/10 7:15am
Looms:
What would the world wide pop be without old David Byrne... Was it a new record by Shoukichi Kina?
Sun. 2/7/10 7:20am
Dan B:
@Andy/Looms - I got a chance to see the Ex w/Merkurya in NYC 2 years ago and it's just unbelievable how perfectly they work together. @Looms, the Shoukichi Kina record is really old -- it's a collection put together on Luaka Bop back in 1994 ("The Best of Shoukichi Kina, Asia Classics Vol. 2"). @Rachel, that's an epic miss! Glad you're filling the void with the show today. @Tom, thanks, that was a fun set to do.
Sun. 2/7/10 7:26am
Tim:
This is awesome music. Yesterday I was treated to some extended Sun Ra and today this. A great weekend for listening!
Sun. 2/7/10 7:28am
Dan B:
Trombone and drums, the best. Resistance Blue Duo is Jeremy Starpoli (trombone) and Ben Karetnick (drums), just great stuff.
Sun. 2/7/10 7:35am
Looms:
Is that tune a foretaste of your smashing session?
Sun. 2/7/10 7:36am
Rachel Malheure:
:-D Right now I'm really awake!
Sun. 2/7/10 7:36am
Tom L:
My six year old just ran into the room and said "Hey is this sex?"
Sun. 2/7/10 7:37am
Looms:
@Tom: that's a good one!
Sun. 2/7/10 7:39am
andy/s:
Haha, Herb Diamante made my brother so angry when we saw him play, and he never gets angry normally. Herb has to be doing something right.
Sun. 2/7/10 7:43am
Dan B:
@Tom, sorry about that! I guess he's a Necks fan? That Phil Keaggy. I don't know if I have it in me to smash that record, but I really oughta. I wish Herb could be here to serenade the records as I smash them!
Sun. 2/7/10 7:45am
TomL:
Don't be sorry! I think it is awesome.
Sun. 2/7/10 7:50am
zax:
Eligarf! how did that not come about earlier? I think Eligarf our lesson of the day.
Sun. 2/7/10 7:51am
Dan B:
Nema, Xaz!
Sun. 2/7/10 7:51am
Tom L:
That Andrew Pekler was excellent. Gonna buy a copy of that.
Sun. 2/7/10 7:52am
Dan B:
The whole Peckler record is assembled from scraps on his hard drive, just awesome little pieces.
Sun. 2/7/10 7:57am
Tom L:
Can't wait to hear the whole thing. For the record, there is no "c" in Pekler.
Sun. 2/7/10 8:00am
Glenn L:
This new Citay's great!
Each record gets better and better!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:02am
Dan B:
@Glenn, yeah, they are searing on this one
Sun. 2/7/10 8:03am
Dan B:
@Tom, thanks for catching the typo...no sleep last night, I'm seeing double and basically just guessing at what the record sleeves say!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:06am
andy/s:
Some mornings everything looks like it's written in black metal logo font.
Sun. 2/7/10 8:16am
Looms:
About your dj prenium, a compilation with the finest live appearences on your show (and maybe tracks taken from unavailable great records) would suit me.
Sun. 2/7/10 8:21am
andy/s:
Agreed Looms. A 70 minute audio cd is a generous amount. I have a couple of dvds with mp3s that people have made for me and there just isn't enough time to check it all out properly.
I was almost thinking of a 'best of backwards records' but 70 minutes of that might be too much!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:21am
Tom L:
You and Evan Miller just sold a subscription to Yeti. That was an amazing track.
Sun. 2/7/10 8:23am
Looms:
Signed and numbered, with handmade sleeves, of course! Ha ha!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:23am
Dan B:
@Andy, I did that a couple of years ago -- called "The Opposite of Popular" -- I think the station still has some copies for sale on the website or as a bonus for pledgers.
Sun. 2/7/10 8:30am
Dan B:
@Looms, I'll weave little cotton dresses for each one, too!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:33am
Looms:
Oh, what a nice treat!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:34am
andy/s:
@Dan. that's cool, I have plenty of money to pledge this year so will try and pick it up!
On a similar tip I started a little blog where I post up stuff played at the wrong speed (for my own entertainment mostly). http://33not45.tumblr.com
Can the pledge cds come with a bonus cassingle?
Sun. 2/7/10 8:36am
Looms:
Yes, a cassingle is a bright idea!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:42am
Rachel Malheure:
rare-recordings cd plus cassingle with one loop on it - and together they'll learn to do a polka and bringin' me the coffee...and we all life happily ever after
Sun. 2/7/10 8:48am
Looms:
Wow, Ashtray Navigations, great stuff! Made me feel like my pc was crashing!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:50am
Dan B:
Will...not...give...in...to...cassingles! Must...resist!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:53am
Cassingle:
But Dan, I'm your father!
Sun. 2/7/10 8:54am
andy/s:
maybe you could include a free cassingle smashing hammer with each pledge over $150.
Sun. 2/7/10 8:56am
Looms:
Thanks Dan, bye all! Fun!
