From October 24, 1973 to March 18, 1978 on CBS Telly Savalas (who died in 1994) played Kojack - the tough, witty, cool, bald headed New York City Police Department Detective Lieutenant Theo Kojak. Kojak's Greek heritage, his love of lollipops (which replaced his original cigar smoking habit), and his tough Bogart like style with such catch phrases as "Who loves ya baby?" Kojack was the man, the cool dude, for a while there in the seventies. The show which was set in New York City it was actually filmed in Chicago.By its fourth season filming was moved to New York City. Like so many other TV shows, due to low ratings, the show was cancelled after its fifth season. | |
