bw:
oh man am I glad to be tuned in!
Mon. 1/25/10 12:09pm
Cecile:
dcp, gotta go, but Robert Sietsema who writes those great restaurant reviews in the Village Voice used to be in Mofungo. The name of the band is after a hearty Puerto Rican dish.
Mon. 1/25/10 12:09pm
numbatwombat:
this tony conrad/genesis thing is wicked! tony conrad is one of very few live musicians who have actually made me hallucinate without the aid of exogamous chemicals! this is something i would not have forseen but i sure am glad exists!
Mon. 1/25/10 12:12pm
dc pat:
NO WAY!! That's hilarious. I like even more now...
Mon. 1/25/10 12:13pm
Cecile:
numbat, Alice Coltrane did that to me once. Amazing. I'd heard lots of criticism of her, but that performance blew all off that away.
It's true, dcp! If I get to NYC, I have to go to at least one place he raves about!
Mon. 1/25/10 12:18pm
bw:
and of course you are playing awesome stuff from the FMA
Mon. 1/25/10 12:18pm
numbatwombat:
alice coltrane is the jam! yeah. all of the haters must be people who have never actually heard her music. as a lifelong fan of john i could not imagine life without either.
Mon. 1/25/10 12:19pm

Ike:
Cecile, I don't always agree with Sietsema's reviews, but they're def. fun to read!
Mon. 1/25/10 12:29pm
Cecile:
Exactly. He gets down in the trenches and actually learns about the stuff.
Mon. 1/25/10 12:31pm
dagwood:
Hey Liz. Great music for a biblical rain. Anything with a tuba cheers me up.
Mon. 1/25/10 12:32pm
Liz B.:
In the battle of tubas vs rain, the tubas always reign victorious!
Mon. 1/25/10 12:37pm
Ike:
Right, Cecile. Although sometimes posters from Chowhound are ahead of him in the trenches, but even so, Sietsema often writes more eloquently, and spreads the word nicely.
Great show Liz!
Mon. 1/25/10 12:37pm
dc pat:

This is good for trying to drown out the screeching fire alarm test here at work. ("This is a test of the Class E system. Please disregard any sounds or tones you may hear. ...bllllllllLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!")
Mon. 1/25/10 2:12pm
Chris:
it's also good for drowning out screeching co-workers who listen to contemporary gospel music.
Mon. 1/25/10 2:12pm
lisa:
Bravo for playing "pity party/ snake charm man"- it's a great little 45, but just for the record, the band name is Cruddy, not Crujay.
