A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

  Thu. 1/21/10 11:10am PMD:

My boyfriend has that book (Dragon Tattoo) - I almost got sucked into it but had to stop because he hadn't finished yet. Thanks for warning on disturbing stuff.
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:14am thecleef:

I bought this Neon Indian album yesterday. I listened to it 3 times in a row.
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:15am Cecile:

I didn't know he had passed.
I read his wiki page, fascinating guy. Got his start in science fiction.
A friend also gave me a book on the nationalist/supremacist threads running through some black metal groups, so I will probably read both, and start to sound like Dave Emory!

(Much love, Dave.)
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:15am Chris:

thanks for the book rec. my "very disturbing fiction" rec would be hogg by samuel delany
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:16am Cecile:

samuel delany is brilliant, disturbing and hard for my little ADD brain to read. His autobiography was entertaining, though.
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:18am BSI:

ted sturgeon's short stories are always good for a slightly disturbing jolt here & there.
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:23am Chris:

delany is brilliant. i need to read more of his stuff.
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:24am v k:

  Thu. 1/21/10 11:27am erella:

Hi Trouble,
I just heard that canadian Musician/writer Paul Quarrington just died this morning. Lung cancer. I don't know if you know his work but he was clever and funny and only 56yrs old.
Thu. 1/21/10 11:28am north guinea hills:

i&i commune w/ the ish.
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:35am erella:

Hey this is great. I am enjoying hearing this song.

Especially since he just announced he (Final Fantasy) is going back to being Owen Pallatt again.
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:36am trouble:

good morning erella!
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:42am Chris:

i was thinking of calling myself donkey kong but thought better when i realized the problems associated with having the same name as a wildly popular video game - good thing he will be using his real name in the future
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:45am fishmonkeystew:

Those birds make me yearn for spring pretty badly.
Thu. 1/21/10 11:46am Grand Theft Auto, Jr.:

  Thu. 1/21/10 11:47am Chris:

patch adams named his son "zagnut"
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:53am BSI:

  Thu. 1/21/10 11:53am Chris:

i loved the late 40s comedy duo patch and zagnut
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:54am BSI:

and it's always a good time for a Willow's Song cover. ... Best one I've heard yet is by Nature & Organisation, but this is a schweet contender.
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:56am emily waters:

thanks for playing "willow" song.
we watched The Wicker Man (without previewing it)with our 13 year old twins— didn't know this song was from that.
. Good song and a trip
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:57am trouble:

hi emily, that is wild that you watched that with your kids...
  Thu. 1/21/10 11:59am Ike:

Sounds good. As for "Willow's Song," the Sneaker Pimps' version is good. There's an Isobel Campbell version, too, which I haven't heard.
  Thu. 1/21/10 12:01pm Nordstrom:

Thanks for playing "Houses", Trouble- beautiful song, great way to start my morn.
