Hello Dan. Here's hoping your being late is just a case of oversleeping and nothing's wrong

Dan B:
If only something were wrong! Then I'd have an excuse.

Morning Dan! Looking forward to today's! Just wanted to add the GX Jupitter-Larsen's Zelphabet series -while still growing- in all is such a fantastic collection!

Rachel Malheure:
I'd agree concerning GX. Great show so far!

Be careful what you wish for! In my book need for sleep is a totally legitimate reason for being late, especially when you can blame a newcomer to the family

Dan B:
Yeah this Zelphabet series is awesome. Gregory Whitehead -- hadn't heard from him for years, but he's so good! And Hanatarash? Who knew they still existed?

I got up late too, which is ridiculous cos your show starts at 11am here. It is my day off though to be fair. And yes need for sleep is about as legit as it gets. Looking forward to Josef Van Wissem!

I talked to GX after a show just prior to the start to the series.. He told about the Zelphabet plan and I asked how he at all thought he could fill 26 volumes and he said he'd probably would end up having to invent some new letters! ;)

Do the bad songs make the good songs sound better in comparison?

GX seems to have done some interesting stuff, I read that thing about his electron gun gig, crazy! Here is my complaint. I meet a lot of people in my job and this week there were two people who had interesting jobs said 'Ohh I could tell you some stories' and then just said 'see you later' without telling any of said stories! People are obliged to tell stories if they say they have them. It's the law.

Pavel, Russia:
Hello. Dan bucket-head! Speak slowly please. We cannot understand your bucket pronunciation!
|
Sun. 1/17/10 7:58am
Dan B:
@Andy, as an attorney (my day job), I assure you that you are correct; it *is* the law. @Pavel, I will endeavor to speak more clearly next time I am on the microphone, or at least next time I have it activated and in proximity to my mouth-hole. @Ken, why yes, terrible songs serve the purpose of making a good song seem like a true relief. @Bas, maybe GX will turn to Cyrrilic letters when he's done with the English ones. And there's always Arabic, don't they have some letters?

Ken From Hyde Park:
Have you tried playing a good song and a bad song simultaneously? I'm just brainstorming here.
|

Bas, NL:
GX has a track record of re-defining standards.. no question he will this time as well. (Try google for the "Jupitter-Larsen ruler")
|
Sun. 1/17/10 8:04am
Dan B:
@Ken, good idea. Would we, on average, end up with a decent but not great song? I have tried playing a bad song backwards in the hope that it will then become good; it usually works pretty well.

Rachel Malheure:
joinin' the complaint, here is mine: a guy on the street asked me to choose a number out of 1-3 for a kind of a privat gameshow. I said 1. after making a terrific sound he said "you lost! had been 2." - so, if you're doin' such a gamshow on the street the participant may not loose! It's the law.
|
Sun. 1/17/10 8:15am
Dan B:
@Rachel, that is true. It *is* the law!

nice - this sound reminds me in a way of marin marais...

"It *is* the law!" is such a great catchphrase. Dan if you ever get bored of doing a music show there's a call-in show in there somewhere :)

It's cool to hear that the internet has helped people like Josef Van Wissem find an audience amidst all the Lars Ulrich style fear & ranting. The internet has certainly helped me as a listener!
