Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from January 12, 2010 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Boil: it's "Gift of the Gnawa" by Hakmoun/Cherry/Rudolph. Totally worth it for the track "Ma'bud Allah" alone. It could've gone for an hour without changes, and I'd love it. Great trance/chant stuff.

...reunion show for Raymilland. They are a legendary St. Louis post punk band that has not played live since 1981. Raymilland released one 7" on Praxis (An art/music magazine from Chicago) in 1980 and had a song on the first Sub Pop compilation cassette in 1981. All four original members will grace the stage and play loads of material from their about to be released retrospective. The archival release "Recordings '79-'81" will be available at this show on CD or as a limited LP/CD package! The release will be avaialble in stores and for mailorder as of January 1st.

Why don't I own "Mice and Rats in the Loft" yet? It reminds me of such good times. This whole show was splendid. That "Fred Bigot vs. Mark Knopfler" ditty keeps going through my head. Pretty brilliant. And "Disco Junkie" -- how can ya go wrong? Sorry for the late reply. Gonna try-n-reply more sooner, da kine~
