Playlist for Irene Trudel - December 14, 2009

Mondays Noon - 3pm on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Little fluffy clouds of music, occasionally darkened by sonic thunderheads; with a sunny lining of stringed instruments and live performances now and then.

Live Performance by Ky Hote and Emory Joseph, in tribute to George Harrison

A couple of years after George Harrison passed, guitarist Ky Hote decided that a tribute concert was needed in his Austin hometown. Ky and fellow musician Owl Morrison started a series of tribute concerts to Harrison in 2005, which has now expanded to runs in Florida and New York City. Ky Hote and Emory Joseph (who is a contibutor to the tribute show) visited WFMU to chat about the "quiet Beatle" and to play a few of his tunes.

Vitamin D! Fantastic. During roughly 2004-6, I saw this guy in the audience at maybe 50% of the shows I attended; finally introduced myself to him-we, natch, accused each other of stalking-and as a result saw him open (?) for Pete Gallub. Nice guy, good performer,

Mon. 12/14/09 4:28pm Cecile:

@doc, my friend was of the opinion that anything on handmade films (George's production company) was instantly worth watching.

Mon. 12/14/09 4:41pm eternal question:

why is it important to certain individuals to have others share their musical preferences? doesn't open-mindedness include an ability to accept the differing preferences of others?

Mon. 12/14/09 4:47pm Doc Labyrinth:

it's the same reason anyone shares their opinions on anything. to open other people's minds to your point of view. sometimes it's good to get an outside perspective on things, lest you spend your life bouncing around inside your own skull.

Mon. 12/14/09 4:54pm Sean:

We will forgive George for funding Shanghai Surprise.

Mon. 12/14/09 4:59pm Cecile:

He could have funded four Shanghai Surprises for the first two great Bob Hoskyns movies
