|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:28am
Bad Ronald:
Hallo PMP, sure Jason, I'm up for anything...
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:30am
mum:
well talk is cheap | |
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:31am
Bad Ronald:
Anyone hear/care that Richard Hell re-recorded "Destiny Street"?
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:33am
Swami:
Dude; you've played all these songs inside of 30 minutes?! Busy hands! Great set!
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:33am
billy:
Anybody have a link for info on GEO?
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:34am
dc pat:
did not hear that Bad Ron. I'm surprised he was able to sing...
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:36am
jason:
hey thanks swami! billy, the GEO is self-released and has no info, i'd love to learn myself tho!
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:36am
Bad Ronald:
Yeah, I'm interested to hear what it sounds like, esp. w/o Robert Quine...
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:37am
sonic dada:
Wondering about GEO, also. Really good stuff. What format is the release?
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:38am
billy:
thanks Jason. that sucks, I really liked it.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:41am
dc pat:
Yeah, really. I am NOT a big fan of remakes/sequels/etc, etc,. why not just do something new?
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:44am
Bad Ronald:
Agreed DCP! I read that he claims that he was "too F-d up" to make a good album at the time and now he wants to do it justice...
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:46am
Nat:
Yeah boy! Falco Subtuetto vocals is Gwilly, BTW. Saw your question on the FMA.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:46am
Bad Ronald:
...Also I think there were some issues w/Marty Thau...
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:48am
dc pat:
aaahhh, bullshit. That's like going back and colorizing an old film or something. I'm not sure I'm that big a fan of re--mastering either. Although, I always thought they should re-produce Zen Arcade--Spot fucked that one up.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 9:51am
Bad Ronald:
Yeah. | |
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:05am
Cecile:
You know what, I'd rather have a Spot produced record than a Mitchell Froom one.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:05am
Cecile:
Jason, if you can play something angry and bitter at some point, that would be great. Thanks!
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:08am
dc pat:
it's not that I dislike all of Spot's stuff, just wish you could hear Bob's vocals better on ZA.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:11am
Cecile:
I cannot say. I haven't listened to that since I sold it for beer money in '87. I do like "pink turns to blue" though.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:12am
jason:
sure cecile...everything ok? i love zen arcade, and i love that you can kinda tell it was recorded in a day
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:13am
dc pat:
jeezus Cecile...give it another listen... It's basically a live recording. Maybe that's why the mix is bad...
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:14am
dc pat:
well, gotta go see a guy...
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:17am
Cecile:
Everything is not OK, but it's nothing I can't live with. I should, dc pat. I probably won't, though. I can't listen to the Huskers or 'Mats ever since I moved to Minneapolis. (Cows and Halo of Flies I still can, though.)
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:22am
jason:
well i'll try to make things real bitter and pissed in a little bit
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:23am
seang:
How about the Trashmen---Minneapolis Kings of Surf
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:23am
Cecile:
thank you! | |
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:25am
Cecile:
seang, love the Trashmen Can still listen to them.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:39am
Jeff from St.Paul:
You can't listen to Husker and 'Mats because you moved here? I would think that would make them all the better. Actually experiencing the weather and streets that influenced those songs. Maybe since I was raised here its more impactful for me.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:46am
Cecile:
They spoke to me in MI because they were coming from the same Upper Midwest place I did and were the same age and had the same cultural references. When I got here, it was hard to explain, but they had lost me with lots of releases I didn't like and I didn't really feel like revisiting the old stuff anymore because it was pretty ubiquitous.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:57am
Cecile:
It sounds really snobbish, but when I got out of school and to Minneapolis, I was pretty burned out on all music in general.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 10:59am
Carmichael:
Good frozen morning everyone.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:00am
Cecile:
anyhoo. later! Thanks for the roiling angst, Jason. Off to a long. long. meeting. Carm, I made your chicken overnight. Can't wait to have it for dinner!
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:01am
Carmichael:
Ya! I had it for Sunday dinner. Let me know your thoughts on it.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:16am
Jeff from St.Paul:
Does this Titus 12 track make anyone else think of the movie 12 Monkeys?
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:22am
Ike:
Anybody going to see Parts & Labor at Brooklyn Bowl tonight? I may not be cool enough to enter that part of town but I just might try to fake it.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:25am
Jeff from St.Paul:
Just hearing about Brooklyn from a far makes it sound like a lamest place on earth.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:28am
kathryn:
NUMBER 1 LAMEST on EARTH?!!
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:37am
Jeff from St.Paul:
It sure sounds like it. Does it have its own Ironic language yet?
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:41am
TC Chuck:
Jeff, it does help if you're from MN. Also, I'm their age, Stopped listening to top 40 when I got to "the cities" and played poker with Chris Mars, who also made some great post-Mats music.
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:48am
kathryn:
no | |
|
Tue. 12/8/09 11:57am
Ike:
Eh, I exaggerate. I think. I hardly ever even venture into Williamsburg; I'm just sick of hearing about it. Lots of parts of Brooklyn aren't so pretentious.
