Dan B:
Hey Bas, any nice finds at the Utrecht record fair the other week?
|
Sun. 12/6/09 6:39am
Bas, NL:
Yeah, some really nice finds; including a long sought after old Disco 12" i won't mention here. But maybe most rare was a The Hafler Trio vinyl release "Three Ways of Saying Two; The Netherlands lectures"... that was half my budget, but hey.. Did you get a chance to see Espers play live? :) Bas

Looms:
Hey Bas! Nice finds. Though, i've become reluctant to purchase H3O vinyls, always had an overwhelming wow & flutter on them.

Sun. 12/6/09 6:59am
Dan B:
Oh come on, confess your disco affliction!
|
Sun. 12/6/09 7:00am
Dan B:
No, no Espers, again! | |

Looms:
Well, my copy of "The Moment When We Blow The Flour From Our Tongues" is notably inaudible...
|
Sun. 12/6/09 7:06am
Looms:
Oddly, my old H3O vinyls sound now better than the new ones...
|

Bas, NL:
Hi Looms! I'm sure that H3O could have that problem; this is also a weird production as there's no center paper to the vinyl. It's just got some production numbers scratched in the surface. It plays well though. The disco 12" was a great remix of a Bobby Orlando hit single; posing as 'The Flirts', with PASSION. It's a 1982 release and well ahead of it's time. Had it on tape and never new what it was, and this was an 'hopeful' buy... and dead on!! Bas

So these are happy finds, lucky guy!

andy/sunderland:
Morning everyone! I have to say I started listening to Hatch's show a while ago and i'm getting to quite like Disco now, never thought it would happen! And to think i'd never really listened to PiL until now, awesome!
|
Sun. 12/6/09 7:26am
Dan B:
Yeah, great raw early PIL with Peel. It sounds so much fresher than the version on Metal Box/Second Edition.
|

Bas, NL:
I used to do a little 'drive-in' disco with a couple of good friends.. or a 'not-just-disco-show'. Imagine Edit Piaf followed by Einstuerzende Neubauten going to disco, going to Miles Davis... and somehow people seemed to like the weird mix!! In the end, great music is just that: Great music! :) B.

Yes Bas, I agree absolutely.

Adam:
Oh man, that is very sad.
|
Sun. 12/6/09 7:50am
andy/s:
Terrible news, RIP Jack. He played with Chris Corsano a few years ago in Manchester and I was really blown away by his playing, that gig was a gateway into so much stuff for me. He was so young too, really sad.
