Mondays Noon - 3pm on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Little fluffy clouds of music, occasionally darkened by sonic thunderheads; with a sunny lining of stringed instruments and live performances now and then.

Live performance by Redwing Blackbird

Another ensemble of wandering musicians, Redwing Blackbird, traveled down from their New Hampshire digs to play a few nights in the Northeast and NYC. Based around the core of longtime friends Austin Wright and Eric Gagne, who share the singing and fretwork, the duo is now expanded to a quartet with the addition of Christine Hayward on vocals and bassist Jeff Murphy. Redwing Blackbird has a number of intricate new folk tunes in advance of releasing their next album, slated for December 2009. On their most recent trip to New York, Redwing Blackbird did a fine recording for Irene in the WFMU studio.

Mon. 11/30/09 3:11pm Cecile:

Aw, Irene I wanted to listen to your proper 3 hour show but the flash player and windows are down. Catch you next week.

Mon. 11/30/09 3:18pm em:

flash player is working for me, weird.

Mon. 11/30/09 3:21pm Irene:

I've got our computer guru, Doron, looking into it now.

Mon. 11/30/09 3:25pm v k:

good afternoon, Irene - always a treat to tune-in - and, in my view, last week's show was outstanding - listened several times over holiday weekend - so v relaxing

Mon. 11/30/09 3:26pm doron:

cecile... there was a problem with the windows stream. the flash stream has been up the whole time though. are you still having problems?

Mon. 11/30/09 3:28pm Jorge:

Mon. 11/30/09 3:30pm jsf:

Mon. 11/30/09 3:49pm dc pat:

I checked Flash and it's working for me..

Mon. 11/30/09 3:53pm Cecile:

hurrah!

Mon. 11/30/09 3:54pm Cecile:

I think what happened is that the 'fmu stream and Pandora were jamming up in my Interwebs because flash here sucks.

Mon. 11/30/09 3:57pm Carmichael:

Pandora is a source of continual frustration for me. It always seems to fall back to the same 10 or so "similar artists", no matter who you choose as the intial artist. And I'm all about eclectic ...

Mon. 11/30/09 4:02pm Cecile:

I have been very aggressive about taking songs even I love out of rotation every thirty days and plugging in a lot of the artists they recommend. I think I've mostly come up with a good mix, but you have to be really proactive.

I heard they have 750,000 tracks. Compared with a lot of other sites, that's pretty small, Still I get some good variety.

Mon. 11/30/09 4:40pm pauladepipersdaughterinparis:

very nice stuff. danky x

Mon. 11/30/09 4:52pm dylan from la:

woah i love this. "to ohio (reprise)"

Mon. 11/30/09 5:17pm Carmichael:

Great song. Reminds me of Neil Young, for some reason.

Mon. 11/30/09 5:26pm Cecile:

that Argentina reminds me of Jimmy Webb mixed with Tom T. Hall!

Mon. 11/30/09 5:34pm Mikko:

i like these songs!
Greetings from Europe
