Anyone else out there...Good afternoon Scott.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:06pm From: Matt

hey GP, I got the Rattles Scott. It is really good! Thanks again!!!

Thu. 10/22/09 12:08pm From: GP

This Komik-Kazee is awesome. I have never heard them before. I know, I live a sheltered life.

Reminds me of a punk B-52's act or something..I don't know.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:08pm From: annie

i like the music i can hear....

Thu. 10/22/09 12:10pm From: dc pat

I LOVE US GIrls.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:10pm From: GP

Annie,
Streams should be up soon. I never lost the lo-fi 32K MP3 one.

I'm off for some lunch.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:11pm From: Stuart Troutman

Brazilian girls are better.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:11pm From: Justin CollectorScum

Komik-Kazee's even better if you see the picture sleeve:

http://www.CollectorScum.com/justin/komik_k7.jpg

I have some copies of the record available. Find me at the site above if anyone needs.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:12pm From: Ike

Is it my imagination or is Komik-Kazee doing fake British punk accents in that song? And yet they're singing about NJ.

AAC+ stream sounds good (generally better than 32k MP3) in Foobar. Works in Winamp too, Annie.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:12pm From: dc pat

WOW, they were totally rad looking

Thu. 10/22/09 12:13pm From: Ike

Awesomely rad photo!

Thu. 10/22/09 12:15pm From: dc pat

A TIE with a T-SHIRT!! NOW I've seen EVERYthing!!!

Thu. 10/22/09 12:17pm From: Scott

Hi yalllz!! Wont have much chance to chime in today, plan onlosing about 6 lbs too, but here's the deal on komik-Kazee -- yeah, of course the accents are fake, it was 1983. leader / songwriter Ken Schwartz moonlited as the drama teacher at my high school (or was it middle school?)

Thu. 10/22/09 12:17pm From: Sue

woo hoo! Residents!! haven't heard this in a long while. thank you!!

Thu. 10/22/09 12:20pm From: annie

hooray for our web-footed friends, for a duck may be somebody's mother!!! hooray for our friends in the swamp, for the weather is very very damp..

Thu. 10/22/09 12:26pm From: steven

just came over, so if Scott mentioned this already then apologies - Prince Rama had all their gear stolen out of their van here in Philly, if you'd like to make a donation to get them back rocking for Rama quicker you can make a new gear fund donation here: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=9046552

Thu. 10/22/09 12:50pm From: Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn

7"7"7" is the mark of the Incubus.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:52pm From: dc pat

I think he's trying out soap spray.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:52pm From: dc pat

may I just be the first in the hate line, thank you...

Thu. 10/22/09 12:53pm From: Ike

I'll bring the hummus for the hate line party.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:54pm From: david

rawk!

Thu. 10/22/09 12:54pm From: Stuart Troutman

Styx was among the worst bands of all time.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:55pm From: Cecile

*popping stuffed mushrooms in the over for the party*

Do you have some Guess Who or some what my friend calls dunka-dunka-dunka Midwest rock? Just nothing with Dennis DeYoung on it. ;D

Thu. 10/22/09 12:55pm From: Cecile

YES THAT'S IT!!!!!!

Thu. 10/22/09 12:56pm From: Stuart Troutman

I'd even choose Slade over Styx.

Thu. 10/22/09 12:57pm From: SCott

with you there Stuart Troutman, I really wanted this slade 7" to sound fab, but it sounds shit. the styx one sounded really good! super punch

Thu. 10/22/09 12:57pm From: doug from DC

Slade over Styx any day.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:01pm From: Cecile

Let's play rock paper scissors lizard Spock Slade Styx.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:03pm From: Stuart Troutman

Ok, you guys win: no Styx, no Slade either.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:04pm From: dc pat

Allow me to step out of the hate line now...

Thu. 10/22/09 1:04pm From: SmokinJ

Slade fucking rock..

Thu. 10/22/09 1:06pm From: Cecile

they do, J.
I love them. And that movie they were in, Flame is pretty damn good.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:07pm From: Chris

Yeah, Witch Hats, great live band. Would love to hear "Hellhole."

Thu. 10/22/09 1:07pm From: BSI

aaaaah............ it's def.time for a bit o'revolution.
not to mention the fact that it's the perfect song. Practically every cover a thing of obscene beauty.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:07pm From: SmokinJ

Never saw it C.. But I saw THEM, and they DO rock!

Thu. 10/22/09 1:10pm From: AnAnonymousParty

"You shouldn't do that ... You shouldn't do that ... You shouldn't do that ... You shouldn't do that ... You shouldn't do that ..."

Thu. 10/22/09 1:10pm From: Lis Chere

wow! thanks for playing "Goin Down to Bloomfield Center"

My dad, Jim Thomas, plays drums on that record.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:10pm From: dc pat

I don't mind Slade but Styx is one of those bands that turned me into a punk rocker..

Thu. 10/22/09 1:11pm From: BSI

AnAnonParty: Exactly! Perhaps that's why I dig it so...

Thu. 10/22/09 1:12pm From: BSI

(being the unrepentant hawkwind geek, that is)

Thu. 10/22/09 1:13pm From: SmokinJ

No mystery: Styx suck...

Thu. 10/22/09 1:15pm From: Scott

hey lis chere, funny - one of the guys in that band was my HS (or middle school?) drama teacher!; dc pat, there's a great Ramones interview on the Tom Snyder show (no Tom, he had a fillin) and the nice lady asks what they hate so much about 70s/80s rock, and Joey says "Styx" and it's like even the nice old lady understands! Are they the world's most hated band?

Thu. 10/22/09 1:16pm From: MattJou

Journey can be pretty bad too!

Thu. 10/22/09 1:16pm From: Ne-guh-tor

HEY! You're playing my band! Thanks, Scott. You broke us to the world!

Thu. 10/22/09 1:17pm From: SmokinJ

Journey is also wretching material..

Thu. 10/22/09 1:18pm From: Scott

Rocket Cottage is you? That explains something! Is this the band that opened for Blue Cheer?

Thu. 10/22/09 1:18pm From: Ne-guh-tor

Yes, indeed! RC! I'm on drums. We opened for BC last year.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:20pm From: Cecile

Styx are still very popular, I mean, they put out records with no airplay and they go gold.

It's just they are very, very polarizing. You either hate them, or you're like Freak and Geeks' Paul Feig and you try and cram in a Styx song in every episode (which, ironically makes it very period-accurate)

Negator, is Rocket Cottage named after that Steeleye Span album?

Thu. 10/22/09 1:20pm From: Scott

thanks for sending me the copy then!

Thu. 10/22/09 1:22pm From: dc pat

negator, you play Premieres? I use to, have an old set in the basement.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:25pm From: cringe

there's a way to make that not happen - all the sides have to be the same way around

Thu. 10/22/09 1:25pm From: Ne-guh-tor

Your welcome, Scott! We are recording our next EP in a short time. Cecile, we are named for the Steeleye record. DC Pat how did you know I play Premier? Uncanny! What do you play now?

Thu. 10/22/09 1:25pm From: SmokinJ

C: No airplay? Christ, the got LOT's of airplay here on the third coast...

Thu. 10/22/09 1:27pm From: Ike

Wow, I had forgotten that there was such dogforsaken musical whoredom featured in Freaks and Geeks. It was probably so period-accurate that I barely noticed. Great TV show, anyway.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:27pm From: dc pat

I quickly checked out your MySpace page, saw a pic--I mean, I could tell by the sound!!! I switched to guit long ago but recently "found" my kit again. Now my kids play it.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:30pm From: Cecile

Well, no airplay on top-40 stations.
If I was listening to classic rawk stations, they might be playing the new Styx album. I"m talking about their new album, sorry. Yes, they played so much Styx oin the midwest in the 70s, 80s, 90s, urm, still now.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:33pm From: Stuart Troutman

Scott, I really liked the distorted Harbor Lights organ. Reminded me of old dark tourist restaurant lounge joints of the early 60s.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:36pm From: Ike

Amazing Bablicon track!

Thu. 10/22/09 1:36pm From: Stewart Stevenson

Hey guys, what about Winger?

Thu. 10/22/09 1:37pm From: Matt

Winger too! eeek!!

Thu. 10/22/09 1:38pm From: SmokinJ

True C. Top Forty stations were but a memory when Styx broke...

Thu. 10/22/09 1:39pm From: GP

Jumping back in...here....right......about...NOW!

Thu. 10/22/09 1:40pm From: GP

Justin,
Thanks for the Komik-Kazee info!

Thu. 10/22/09 1:44pm From: Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn

Maybe the dingo has set your baby on fire?

Thu. 10/22/09 1:44pm From: Cecile

THey played them on top 40 in the 70s. Just not now.
My language skills are crummy todays

Thu. 10/22/09 1:48pm From: Stuart Troutman

from the Ohio 70s, right?

Thu. 10/22/09 1:48pm From: Carmichael

Just came back. Noticed someone mentioned Slade and Styx in the same sentence on the same comments board.

That's enough to tear the fabric of the space-time continuum.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:50pm From: GP

A site that has photo that may or may not be the aforementioned Azalia Snail ,if interested:
http://tiny.cc/GrrrlBands

Thu. 10/22/09 1:54pm From: Glenn L

That's definitely Azaila in that photo GP.

Thu. 10/22/09 1:56pm From: GP

Cool Glenn, there are a few others that I'd like to find out more about ; )

Thu. 10/22/09 2:01pm From: BZ

I HAVE NO SON!

Thu. 10/22/09 2:03pm From: SmokinJ

Like I said, by the 70;s Top 40 was dead as I knew it..

Thu. 10/22/09 2:04pm From: GP

Ahhhh, distortion we missed ye.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:06pm From: Ike

This "Beat It" cover reminds me of that killer "Borderline" 7" by the Flaming Lips with Stardeath & White Dwarfs. Although that's more of a straight-up psych-ish blowout.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:07pm From: BSI

damn, but me likey the pumice.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:08pm From: Ike

...and less funny ...and less distorted... now that I think about it, they're actually not similar at all, except that they're both noisy covers of '80s pop hits.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:12pm From: GP

Regarding M.J,. covers...( Cecile, will probably know this one ) that Michigan band Moxy Fruvous has a nice one of "Billy Jean".

Thu. 10/22/09 2:16pm From: Cecile

I thought Moxy were from Canada?
No, I didn't know that one. Sounds good.

I gotta go. Pleasure talking to everyone.

Scott, you are the 45 King!

Thu. 10/22/09 2:17pm From: paul

LOTL ahhh!!!! one of the best 7"s i own!

Thu. 10/22/09 2:18pm From: PMD

Here now too. I love garage sales.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:20pm From: Coolie

Baaaangin!

Thu. 10/22/09 2:21pm From: GP

I think you are right Cecile...take care.

Love this Loops record.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:24pm From: PMD

The Great Swamp!!

Thu. 10/22/09 2:33pm From: Russ

Hell ya on the Rocket Cottage. EP's called Go For It! Not on any label known to man!

Thu. 10/22/09 2:35pm From: PMD

128k is burping. Guess I'll switch off.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:37pm From: BSI

no burping here (128k via EYEtunes). .. so far...

Thu. 10/22/09 2:50pm From: Ne-guh-tor

Anton, sure was naughty!

Thu. 10/22/09 2:50pm From: GP

Ha..Anton sounds like Lee Greenwood!

Thu. 10/22/09 2:50pm From: monica

really great show, scott! in fact, the whole week so far has been fantastic listening. oy, imma have to dig deep to come up with something good.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:51pm From: BSI

wheeee, those parrot records always make a good sonic oatmeal.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:52pm From: Scott

thanks Mo! Can't wait to hear what you come up with!!!

Thu. 10/22/09 2:52pm From: GP

No not Lee..dangit..I still can't remember...I'll think of it some other time.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:55pm From: Ne-guh-tor

Me too, Monica! I always listen to your show. I agree 45's rule.

Thu. 10/22/09 2:58pm From: Coolie

Tha classix...DAMN.

Wed. 10/28/09 2:26pm From: bennett
