A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Thu. 10/22/09 9:38am
annie:
this is where the organizer in me would do this to those cumbersome things, trouble: a rod placed on a plywood square, for however high you want the stack to be. i'd organize those puppies alphabetically by artist and separate them with paper spacers to show the beginning and end of each section.. ok, i'm done.. back to breakfast..
Thu. 10/22/09 9:40am
dc pat:
POP GROUP!! yes, baby, alright!

Thu. 10/22/09 9:47am

Thu. 10/22/09 9:49am

Thu. 10/22/09 9:51am
annie:
pat, i have to joys of the woodstove! i use things like that to start the morning fire... around here they have banned burn barrels, so most people are just announcing that they will continue to use burn barrels or throw stuff in the woodstove.. i'm an advocate of safe incineration over landfills.
Thu. 10/22/09 9:52am
dc pat:
ah yeah, that's the way to be..oh well, can't have one of those in my dinky row house...

dc pat: I compost brown bags all the time (and newspaper) I find they are a great source of 'dry browns' - especially if you're like me and you don't have a lot of leaves or grass.
Thu. 10/22/09 10:08am
dc pat:
krexus: ok, thanks. I haven't read anything about composting in about 15 years so forgot what was acceptable
Thu. 10/22/09 10:18am

Thu. 10/22/09 11:06am
Carmichael:
Doron, the WMP stream is still down. Is there an ongoing problem?
Thu. 10/22/09 11:09am

Thu. 10/22/09 11:14am
Laurie:
Did I just call Kate Nash Kate Mosh? I don't know. I mean, I know, but I don't know what's going with synapses misfiring.
Thu. 10/22/09 11:16am
PKNY:
I love me some Freda Payne. But everytime I hear the intro to this song, I think it's "Strong Island" by JVC Force.
Thu. 10/22/09 11:19am
GP:
Laurie,
So you are saying she is faking it then?
Thu. 10/22/09 11:23am
postmodernmanpaul:

Thu. 10/22/09 11:24am
C:
about a year ago i found a secos album that looked fairly recent. it was an updated cover from their first album with everyone's head coming out of the table. however, i don't think the original singer was on this album. did they reform a few years ago and put out something without him?
Thu. 10/22/09 11:26am
Carmichael:
PMP, stick it to The Man (or "The Chap", if you will)! I'm sipping away at my Harney's Irish Breakfast tea and urging you on.
You have nothing to lose but your chains.
Thu. 10/22/09 11:26am
Carmichael:
This sounds like a French version of Caravan.
Thu. 10/22/09 11:26am
doron:

Thu. 10/22/09 11:49am
Alex:
I just have to say, this is one of my favorite songs ever - I actually don't like most of the rest of the album I have which contains this song, but this one is in my top 10 list - however it is "Olhos Coloridos" not Corridos" - which would be "running eyes"
Thu. 10/22/09 11:51am
PMD:
Chris in Bristol - yeah, that single blew my mind too. Ken's show in general tends to do that.
Thu. 10/22/09 11:54am
?:
There was a diner under the West Side Highway at 125th Street (West Side Diner, I think) back in the mid-80's that had a jukebox with Clarence Carter singles on it and I fondly remember getting nasty looks from the waitress very late one night / early one monring when I put Strokin' on - gotta love that part about "you sister will"!
Thu. 10/22/09 11:54am
postmodernmanpaul:
carmichael - is this the chap you speak of?
www.thechap.net
adrian - i missed spymonkey but after viewing on utube will def look out for them next time theyre naked in this neck of the woods!
Thu. 10/22/09 11:54am
Chris - Bristol:
It made me feel slightly violated, but in a good way.
Thu. 10/22/09 11:56am
Cecile:
This Jorge Ben song is great.
I take it this is a big satirical, the way they're singing some of the lines?
Thu. 10/22/09 11:57am
GP:
PMD, Chris, wait then, that wasn't an instructional record?
ooops
Thu. 10/22/09 11:57am
PMD:
Oh my. Hearing that in a diner would REALLY blow my mind.
Thu. 10/22/09 11:57am
Carmichael:
PMP, that's too funny! You don't see those fine upstanding gentlemen in the Land of Grey and Pink.
Thu. 10/22/09 11:59am
Carmichael:
That soccer song Jorge Ben did was wonderful. I think the English translation was "Goalie Man".
Thu. 10/22/09 11:59am
dc pat:
I think Billy Childish wins Chap of the Century hands down
Thu. 10/22/09 12:00pm
GP:
I don't even collect records but I so want to go now that it has been hyped up so much. Wish I lived closer.
Thanks Wolmar for some awesome music choices.
