Do you plan on attending the record fair?

Tue. 10/13/09 12:12pm From: dc pat

Tue. 10/13/09 12:12pm From: Joe B

Record fair? You betcha! Trashmen Saturday afternoon! Saturday night! Friday night!

Tue. 10/13/09 12:14pm From: Bad Ronald

Man, I might have to go to all 3 days, I wanna catch People Like us too...

Tue. 10/13/09 12:19pm From: Parq

Y'know, three hours of hot girl bands singing in French would be okay, too.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:24pm From: Ne-guh-tor

Blue Cheer simply rules.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:32pm From: Cecile

YES. I love this song.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:34pm From: Joe

This Betty Harris record kicks ass!

Tue. 10/13/09 12:36pm From: Cecile

well, thank you Shelby! I didn't know you were responsible for a Bettye Lavette side!

Tue. 10/13/09 12:38pm From: Ne-guh-tor

Tough news about Dickie P., Joe. My band opened for Blue Cheer last year. Cool guys, for sure. They played for 2 and a half hours! They sounded great. It was a true honor to be on the same stage as them. The drummer was about 98 years old and kicked my drummin' ass all around. Good times.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:38pm From: Laurie

I don't think I want to know what soul butter is supposed to be.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:38pm From: Cecile

Joe, can you play "I am the Grass" from that recent Shelby country comp?

Tue. 10/13/09 12:40pm From: Listener Jumpy

"Soul Butter" is one of my all-time faves.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:42pm From: Carmichael

Sing it, Big Al! Ugh!

Tue. 10/13/09 12:43pm From: Jumpy

I could go for 3 hours of Kinks.
I think tonight's gig will be all artists who played down the road at Club Warsaw.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:45pm From: Joe B

Jumpy, feel free to post details of said gig here!

Tue. 10/13/09 12:46pm From: Joe B

Cecile, sorry, can't look for that comp now, a little disporganized as usual.

Neg, cool story. I never went to see Blue Cheer. terrible job by me.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:50pm From: Cecile

that's ok, Joe. I am digging the big slab of good soul you've been playing!

Tue. 10/13/09 12:54pm From: Carmichael

A crappy local band I was in opened for Spirit once, and it was the same thing. Ed Cassidy looked moments away from death, but blew everyone away all night.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:56pm From: dc pat

My group opened for TSOL once. They were dicks.

Tue. 10/13/09 12:57pm From: Rubble

Nardwuar!

Tue. 10/13/09 12:58pm From: Carmichael

Neg, was that Paul Whaley on drums?? He should only be about 60-ish. Plus 10 hard years of LSD. OK, that equals 98.

Tue. 10/13/09 1:07pm From: Cecile

oh, nardwuar.

Tue. 10/13/09 1:08pm From: Ne-guh-tor

It was Paul Whaley and yes I knew he was in his 60's (67 I think), but, man, they kept in total darkness throughout the show and when it over he stepped from behind the kit, and I was like, WHOA! I was blown away. It like if your grandad just rocked harder than you did! Really, a miracle.

Tue. 10/13/09 1:09pm From: Cecile

the anti-eddie trunk

Tue. 10/13/09 1:12pm From: C

Saw the Pierced Arrows last week. Man, their new stuff is awesome. Can't wait for the new album. Also, heard a rumor that Mississippi might release another old Cole album, I think the last Rats one. Gonna be great.

Tue. 10/13/09 1:13pm From: Carmichael

He can't look any worse than Rod Argent. My God, he looks like he was lashed to the bow of some sailng ship for about 40 years.

Tue. 10/13/09 1:15pm From: Joe B

I missed the Pierced Arrows, damn. I really wanted to see them. The new album is gonna be out on Vice.

Tue. 10/13/09 1:16pm From: Ne-guh-tor

Pierced Arrows better come here and we better open for them! Carmichael, I haven't seen Rod, but Paul looked like The Mummy wearing a baseball cap.

Tue. 10/13/09 1:16pm From: C

I hope that doesn't mean the record won't be pressed in their living room.

Tue. 10/13/09 1:17pm From: Ne-guh-tor

and played his ass off!

Tue. 10/13/09 1:17pm From: dc pat

dammit, missed Pierced Arrows as well as TVGhost.

Tue. 10/13/09 1:42pm From: Bad Ronald

mrs. slater's parrot?

Tue. 10/13/09 1:57pm From: Stuart Troutman

Wasn't that Rodney Slater?

Tue. 10/13/09 2:04pm From: Jumpy

Pretty sure the song in Spanish was "Girl and a Hot Rod." At least, it sounded like that.

Tue. 10/13/09 2:08pm From: Joe B

Thanks Jumpy!

Tue. 10/13/09 2:18pm From: Carmichael

Buddy Rich was a true Hep Cat!

Tue. 10/13/09 2:29pm From: Parq

Not sure what I missed, but Buddy Rich was supposedly a dick to his side-people. Just sayin'. Another on our list of great American heroes who were not very nice people.

Tue. 10/13/09 2:36pm From: GP

Just joining the fray..meetings, etc...blah blah

Tue. 10/13/09 2:47pm From: Jumpy

"The guys get shirts! The guys get shirts!"

Tue. 10/13/09 2:58pm From: Carmichael

Thanks, Joe!!

Tue. 10/13/09 3:01pm From: Spankyflop

Joe - one of these years for your premium you ought to do a "3 Chord Monte Sells Out" CD. Just compile all of the great commercials you have.

Tue. 10/13/09 6:14pm From: mike tp

chiming in about buddy rich. seen him at a restaurant perform in nutley? man was he giving his bass player the business. not playing the tempo properly. buddy was a freaky soloist though as we all know.technique and a speed freak.anybody remember marty paglione from club band crizma. he could really play like buddy rich and carl palmer.

Tue. 10/13/09 7:07pm From: Mike Sin

Nice Shelby Singleton tribute!

Tue. 10/20/09 4:51pm From: Ryan M.

This was a damn good show, Joe.
