hi, scott, hi trouble crew

Thu. 10/8/09 12:02pm From: BSI

who has curry cake?

Thu. 10/8/09 12:03pm From: Cecile

om nom nom nom

Thu. 10/8/09 12:06pm From: Cecile

I am still annoyed with how Stereo Review and Rolling Stone turned me away from so many good records in the 70s. Like this one.

Thu. 10/8/09 12:08pm From: Marshall Stacks

This Cale/Riley track is great. Getting my morning off to a promising start.

Thu. 10/8/09 12:09pm From: Scott

Yo all! Happy lunchtime

Thu. 10/8/09 12:10pm From: Cecile

what do you have for lunch, Scott?
Lamb tacos?

Thu. 10/8/09 12:11pm From: will

Love'll get you like the Church of Anthrax.

Thu. 10/8/09 12:13pm From: Ike

"I can't tell when you're feeding me the truth."
- I'm not.

"How do I know any lunch you've served me is..."
- You don't.

Thu. 10/8/09 12:21pm From: Malibu Pete

C. McAlister! Craziest man in South Carolina! And that's saying something.

Thu. 10/8/09 12:22pm From: yockey

DOPE

Thu. 10/8/09 12:32pm From: Ike

That sequence of Autobody-Thinking Fellers-Charlie McAlister was brilliant. A total blast.

Hmm... Terry Reid... kinda slickly greasily Lenny Kravitz-y. (Or is it Kravitz who's Terry Reid-y? Yeah, that's probably it.)

Thu. 10/8/09 12:37pm From: BSI

Great Ken impression!

Thu. 10/8/09 12:41pm From: BSI

mind the gap!

Thu. 10/8/09 12:43pm From: The Central Scrutinizer

So, if ya gotta load or you gotta unload go to the White Zone. It's a way of life, you'll love it.

Thu. 10/8/09 12:44pm From: Ike

I just hate it when there's no service on the downtown side of this radio show.

(Nobody has bought yerterb dot com yet. Quick, somebody buy it before my evil employer's evil algorithm snatches it up and fills it with ads.)

Thu. 10/8/09 12:47pm From: Mischief

LOL, this sounds like frogger on the Atari

Thu. 10/8/09 12:47pm From: Lizardner Dave

I dig this track, especially because I just finished listening to "Printer Jam" on Vicki's archive from last night.

Thu. 10/8/09 12:49pm From: Hugo

May I put in a request for "Atras Do trio Electrico", either the Caetano Veloso original or the other version which Scott may know about? Lovely, both of them, but pretty tricky to do ...

Thu. 10/8/09 12:52pm From: SCott

Cheers Hugo! There's a request i can get behind - tho we'll stick w. the orig - I wouldn't dare play the one you're hinting at

Thu. 10/8/09 12:57pm From: Hugo

I thought it was lovely, but, granted, not an easy one ...

Thu. 10/8/09 12:58pm From: Scott

Thank you sir.

Thu. 10/8/09 12:58pm From: postmanpaul

wow! nice choice of starship scott... almost like hearing a new contemporary piece, they still rock for me!!!

Thu. 10/8/09 1:00pm From: Stuart Troutman

Yeah, but they were only good for the 1st-3rd albums; after that, fergit it.

Thu. 10/8/09 1:01pm From: Cecile

exactly
They made some great pop singles with those weird harmonies and Marty Balin's voice. I still like Miracles.

Thu. 10/8/09 1:03pm From: doug from DC

Hijack the starship! This wasn't really the same as the "Jefferson Starship," the Airplane still existed at this point. It was half of the Airplane, half of the Dead, w/Crosby and Nash. Similar lineup to the Sunfighter album.

Thu. 10/8/09 1:03pm From: postmanpaul

not on the £sd that was around then stuart...

Thu. 10/8/09 1:09pm From: Carmichael

I remember seeing Jefferson Airplane for free in Golden Gate Park. I was only 11 (went with my much older sister), newly arrived in U.S., and totally astonished at the band, the crowd and the music. It was deeply etched into my brain.

And I love this version of 10cc, Scott. Gary War's Eye in the Sky would back up into this pretty nicely too.

Thu. 10/8/09 1:10pm From: SCott

Hey Carmichael, yeah you're totally right about that Gary War cover! Maybe later today...

Thu. 10/8/09 1:14pm From: Hugo

Listening to JA these days, what I keep hearing is what a terrific bass player Jack Casady is - and his interaction with Jorma Kaukonen. No wonder they split off later ...

The Dead had Phil Lesh, also terrific ...

Thu. 10/8/09 1:16pm From: Cecile

This is hilarious and a great tribute.

Thu. 10/8/09 1:21pm From: anyone to everyone

very nice

Thu. 10/8/09 1:51pm From: Carmichael

You can recognize Marc Bolan's voice anywhere, can't you?? Beautiful.

Thu. 10/8/09 1:56pm From: erik r.

that tribo is great- reminds of caetano veloso's underrated araca azul... just found that comp on the fm shades blog! and now am extra-excited to listen to it!

Thu. 10/8/09 1:58pm From: Scott

Erik R, if you dig Tribo and Araca Azul, you gotta check out the 1st 2 albums by Walter Franco! "Ou Nao (1973)" and "Revolver (75)"

Thu. 10/8/09 2:01pm From: Chris

Wow, a quick google shows that Harvest Bag comp has some great stuff. Can we maybe hear the East of Eden sometime?

Thu. 10/8/09 2:02pm From: Scott

Chris, better than that it's got Edgar Broughton's "Call Me a Liar". and some serious schmaltz by Marc Almond

Thu. 10/8/09 2:07pm From: Chris

Works for me. Yeah the Edgar Broughton is strong.

Thu. 10/8/09 2:20pm From: HUgo

Thanks for the CV, Scott. In fact, the whole album is great. On the roll here, I'll second the request for East of Eden. Anything off "Mercator Projected" or "Snafu". Or their only hit single. As for Edgar Broughton, I'll' say no more. Except that his gig here earlier this year was canceled. Too bad.

Thu. 10/8/09 2:21pm From: Carmichael

Thanks for the oncoming bliss Scott!

Thu. 10/8/09 2:30pm From: Ike

Nice!

Thu. 10/8/09 2:38pm From: wat cynder

Thu. 10/8/09 2:39pm From: anyone to everyone

7 29 me birfffff day

Thu. 10/8/09 2:40pm From: Andy

Holy Shit. This song is going on the playlist for this weekend's homebrew session. If I can find it...

Thu. 10/8/09 2:40pm From: Lewis

very cool - Bonzos I haven't heard before!

Thu. 10/8/09 2:56pm From: GP

Ha ha Scott. Thanks for the CSI mashup, been waiting to hear this again. Caruso sounds so creepy out of context.

Thu. 10/8/09 2:59pm From: Ike

Chortle chortle chortle. Cackle. Chortle. At Caruso's expense.

Thu. 10/8/09 2:59pm From: Cecile

I missed the Bonzos.

Thu. 10/8/09 3:00pm From: Cecile
