I love that you played Negu Gorriak last time, I am a fan of theirs for 10+ years now and it was such a pleasure to hear you play them. It was a like a full circle because back then they were my favorite group and I only listened to bands that were related somehow to them, but now I listen to so many different things and then bam! a blast from the past. thanks!
  7:11pm
Vicki:

for similar reasons I just played Kaada - heard them while driving in Spain last week and realised I hadn't played them for about 4 years

  7:36pm
Charles:

I RAN OUT OF LOWER CASE LETTERS.
  7:38pm
gerardo:

i was 'submitted' to a contest like this years ago, everyone around that soiree had failed, so I was forced to dignify them (they were all musicians)

i guess we know all this 'cause we've been born and raised in radio :)
  7:39pm
Vicki:

I played this game in Portugal once with a bunch of people from Warp Records in a hotel, listening to the radio station Radio Nostalgia
  7:40pm
gerardo:

cool! what were the results?
  7:42pm
texas scott:

we know all this cuz we had our ears stuck to the radio
  7:42pm
Vicki:

I did er, quite well. This is because I don't hold any other information in my skull
  7:43pm
Vicki:

you's are right though - radio IS why we know, not TV
  7:44pm
gerardo:

me too! :D
and yes, texas, we still are!
  7:44pm
Vicki:

what is interesting is how global these 60s and 70s charts are, they weren't later
  7:46pm
Vicki:

CORRECTION - next week is my LAST week on the air this season, so DO tune in
  7:46pm
gerardo:

in chilean airwaves, you can hear music from the 1940s onwards!
  7:46pm
Doug of Canada:

Did I miss anything?
  7:47pm
Vicki:

you missed about 300 songs
  7:48pm
Doug of Canada:

Sorry ... wife's birthday ... had to sneak off and listen ...
  7:49pm
Vicki:

happy birthday
my birthday soon
  7:49pm
Doug of Canada:

Shhhh ... they might find me here in the cupboard.
  7:50pm
Doug of Canada:

I'll sing Happy Birthday to you in Vancouver ... oh yeah, yours is close to mine
  7:51pm
texas scott:

to gerardo...l u c k y !
  7:51pm
Vicki:

from a cupboard
ok everyone, so my last show is next week so do tune in.
meanwhile I'm buying a new MODEM tomorrow.
  7:52pm
gerardo:

good, vicki!
(carefu,l doug ;) )
the odds are 9 'int'l' tracks vs. 1 'national' here, since almost 85% of the FM dial is owned by one corporation (Iberoamericana Radio Chile). They decided to use one of their frequencies to play chilean music only, because 'they covered the whole spectrum of radio listeners in the country', and there was a sort of grant due to the approaching bicentennial here :S
  7:53pm
Doug of Canada:

Perhaps one of your neighbours has wireless?
  7:54pm
Vicki:

so WFMU is doing a bit of maintenance after this show, do not be alarmed.
it's all locked, Doug
I get through one modem a year
  7:55pm
Doug of Canada:

People secure their wireless? Anyone can use mine ... it's the neighbourly thing to do ...
  7:57pm
Vicki:

it's more tha case that people's routers are defaulted to be locked and people don't unlock them. plus everyone has wireless
except... me
  7:57pm
Doug of Canada:

... and if anything illegal happens on my network, I can blame it on the people parked outside with laptops.
  7:59pm
Doug of Canada:

Sorry ... everyone return to your conversations ...
  7:59pm
gerardo:

no wireless here either...
  7:59pm
texas scott:

i like the way you roll,Doug.
  8:00pm
Vicki:

alright People... thanks for listening - last DO or DIY next week
goodnight all from the buffer zone!
  8:00pm
texas scott:

you too,gerardo
