Hola, Maria. Funny weather hear in North Jersey today. As you were..
  12:03pm

  12:04pm
north guinea hills:

Annie, I finally found 5 ladybugs for my indoors jalapeno plants that were infested w/ aphids, but that all ran away w/o partaking in the feast. luckily, a spider took about 1/4 of the aphids. also, vinegar and water worked a bit. thanks again.
  12:08pm
annie:

ngh: great you could stem it! sorry the ladies flew.. i found a few roaming around my garden, but they would have missed their jobs here.. next year, you can buy them refrigerated... keep them cool till you want them, then let them loose in the garden.. lots of places sell them... and praying mantis egg sacs too
  12:09pm
dc pat:

ngh: you can also make a soap spray out of a little dish soap and water. Stops 'em in their contemptible tracks...
  12:09pm
Maria:

yes, please-- any gardening advice most welcome here. How about repotting an outdoor tree? Now or in the Spring?
  12:10pm
LizGig:

Good evening Maria! Thank you again for brightening my day!
  12:11pm
north guinea hills:

Thanks Annie & dc pat, every time the plants flower, the aphids destroy the flowers, so, i've yet to have any of the plants fruit.
  12:13pm
annie:

outdoor tree? deciduous? how big? what kind//
  12:16pm
annie:

  12:24pm
Cecile:

Sorry - I meant delete the comment where my email address was in the place of my screen name. I need to use my words today...
  12:24pm
LizGig:

No stream problems here. I'm using the 20k Windows stream.
  12:26pm
dc pat:

lo-fi 32k stream always reliable...
  12:26pm
trent:

the itunes / probably 128k mp3 stream seem to be down - but i'm using the flash player and it's fine.
  12:26pm
doron:

anyone still having stream issues?
  12:28pm
BSI:

I still can't get 128 MP3 to stream.
...have been making do with 32k.
  12:31pm
annie:

just got it back on 128...oops, well... we shall see just cut out and came back
  12:32pm
annie:

doron, my situation is not normal, i usually use winamp.. not at home and using someone's mac.
  12:36pm
doron:

annie: is itunes not working for you?
  12:36pm
BSI:

I use the 128 stream on the same mac every day, never gives me a licko trouble, so I'm not bitchin' too badly. As long as it comes back eventually...!
  12:39pm
doron:

bsi: are you saying it isnt working now?
  12:40pm
BodegaMan:

listening to the iTunes feed now.
  12:40pm
Dean:

I remember Dory Previn had a song called King Kong.
  12:43pm
BSI:

Doron:
Seems OK now. ... though it was weird: is there a time-lag between 32 and 128? I stopped 32 & went to 128 and it seemed like I went from Maria's announcement to the tune already started.

Time trippy! -- but yeh: seems fine now.
  12:44pm
Marshall Stacks:

Hi Doron and Maria, The 128K WFMU and Ubu streams weren't working, though the Ichiban 128K stream was. As of 10 minutes ago or so all are OK.
  12:49pm
dc pat:

BSI: definitely time lag--us 32k listeners always get everything WAY after everyone else...
  12:52pm
dc pat:

Nikki Sudden once said to a friend of mine "if you can't play your songs on an acoustic guitar then they're not really songs"
  12:54pm
annie:

HTRK- hot rock!
  12:57pm
dc pat:

ken says it's HTRK=hate rock
  12:58pm
annie:

you could sing the apples and bananas song: apples and bananas, eepples and baneenees, oopples and banoonoos., upples and banunas... sorry, but i had to get it out of my head. i feel better now.
  12:58pm
maria:

I Dont Care what anyone sez, to me it's HATRACK!!
  1:00pm
Wayne Gretzky:

  1:05pm
Maria:

It is a Mimosa Tree, By the way
  1:15pm
dc pat:

Hit Rick...I hate that guy..
  1:17pm
Curmudgeon:

I just hate rock!
  1:19pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm listening to the 128k stream with Winamp and it cuts out momentarily every few minutes and then picks up again.
  1:21pm
LizGig:

I have a CD with the unencouraging title The World of Drums and Percussion and an even less appealing cover. It's fantastic. If you like what Maria is currently playing, it's worth checking out. Might be out of print, but if you see it second hand, snap it up.
  1:30pm
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

I wish my parents had named me "Reverend Horton Heat." What a great name. Some people have all the luck.
  1:37pm
Guerin:

After our host mentioned her Sony recorder, we heard a song behind her patter. WHAT WAS IT? There is goes again!
  1:41pm
Maria:

sorry it was My Little Red Book by Love
  1:55pm
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

I thought Mao wrote that one.
  1:57pm
GP:

Yo La Tengo never sounds the same way twice to me. I still don't know if I like that or not...yeah, I guess I do.
  2:01pm
Maria:

They keep themselves entertained and engaged- can you imagine sounding the same after so many albums?
  2:03pm
GP:

10-4 on that Maria. I also meant that every time I listen I hear something different that I missed the first time around.

Good stuff indeed.
  2:04pm
Maria:

  2:06pm

Maria, thanks for the programm and for this fine old tune (after so many years, i'm not bored of that song and the wonderful Midnight Cowboy screen store). Hope to hear you again at that same schedule time)
  2:50pm
kid brody:

Right on, Maria! I agree with you re: listening to Nilsson all afternoon. I'd actually like to hear more of his tunes; don't know if I have heard anything but the song you played. Thanks for making my afternoon better!
