I'm an American that just moved to the island of Jersey in January. This island rocks. It's beautiful, peaceful, a really tranquil place to live. You can drive by an amazing farmland and then run into spectacular coastline five minutes later. I lived in manhattan for 14 years before this, and the island of Jersey is definitely a welcome change of pace after 14 years of Manhattan.
  9:31am

David Lee Roth:

BILLY! at 32kps!
  10:52am
fishmonkeystew:

Go SKA!
  10:55am
Cecile:

I think it was because the writers and programmers were so gun-ho on people in the US not "getting" ska. When pretty much anyone who saw a ska show or heard the Specials or Desmond Dekker was hooked
  10:55am
Cecile:

yay Natty Bo!
  10:56am
Jenn:

Shout out from NYC.
Beautiful accapella voice.
You've got to ska ska ska!
Love the accent.
  10:56am
nasok:

ska was huge in local american scenes, but without commercial radio support it never attained true culture-wide acceptance. if i remember correctly it was when clear channel started buying everything up and turning all radio stations into classic rock format. early 90s?
  10:58am
[-__-]:

i beeive he might be referring to Ska's popularity in the 60's in England, etc
  10:59am
Cecile:

I think the current youth see it as a big niche, like Goth. And it's certainly worked its way into a lot of rock music.

And I myself was talking about ska in the US in the late 70s.
  10:59am
Ike:

Great to hear you back on the air again, Billy! BTW, way back at 9:07, I was listening on FM and the background/bed music sounded good and I could hear the vocals fine even before you turned them up and killed the bed.
  11:00am
Parq:

I don't remember first-wave ska getting played in the US. By the time second wave broke in '79, Peter Tosh, Johhny Nash and Desmond Dekker all had top-40 hits -- Dekker's in the 60s.
  11:02am
GP:

Ha ha. I though for a second you said the "Blancmange" film festival...had to go back up and look at the real name.
  11:02am
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

nuffin like the Tea and a Biccy
  11:05am
Cecile:

Britfilm:

  11:05am
Ike:

Tea! Tea! Tea!
  11:06am
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

.... But I'll pass on those Jellied eels ty ....
  11:07am
Jenn:

  11:08am
Cecile:

  11:10am

  11:35am
Carew:

How come everybody from Jersey has an English sounding accent?
  11:36am
Cecile:

  11:48am
Cecile:

AH! I can now jack my body with impunity again! Thanks for the techno, Billy
  11:48am
Ike:

It's definitely not quitus.com, that's a parked ad page owned by my evil employers or a competitor. And quietus.com isn't working for me either. Anyway, nice techno.
  11:52am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Can Jersey residents enter the Olympics under their own flag? On a related note, Chicago was eliminated from the 2016 vote.
  11:53am
BSI:

Sorry comrades, I'm a bit late to the party.
are we having stream issues again?
shall I take the TINY BLACK PILL that will end all my pain?
  11:53am

YAY Donald Glaude!
  11:54am
Ike:

The AAC+ stream sounds perfect this morning.

Oh, and Xanthe has a beautiful voice.
  11:58am
GP:

I put Marmite on my vanilla ice cream, just sayin.
  2:58pm
Lisa M:
