The game industry production values have gone way up, and they sell a lot more. So they charge more even though its cheaper to produce the physical product.

josh - and a slight difference is that a game is developed not by a team of 5 people but more like 250 nowadays.

yes, the costs are high, but with aspects like multiplayer you get a lot of bang for your buck compared to other types of entertainment

But they used to be printed on circuit boards with custom chips on them inside of plastic carts. Printing a disc costs way less, so the profit margins are greater on the physical media, but production costs more cause you need a team of graphic artists, map designers, modelers, programmers, testers
