I'm a real jazz novice and really only listen to older stuff but the new stuff I have featuring the likes of Chris Corsano has the same sort of spirit I think. I would guess he's influenced by Rashied Ali.

@Andy, yes, I'm sure Corsano has listened very closely to Rashied. Another great contemp. jazz drummer, though he goes way back before Corsano started playing, is Beaver Harris. Recorded with the Blue Humans etc etc.

Cool Dan, i'll check him out! I play guitar but love listening closely to drummers more than guitarists, don't know why.
