Riff rock for riff raff, pop fizzle for the frazzled, chord changes of life for the menopausal teenagers, a safari in the jingle-jangle jungle.

Fulks is channeling to be an indie Roger Miller.

Fri. 8/14/09 8:10pm From: pseu

...and who would you be channeling?

Fri. 8/14/09 8:17pm From: wht

Jerry Reed, circa Amos Moses

When you're not, you're not.

Fri. 8/14/09 8:28pm From: Laurie

This is Lindsay Buckingham? WAT????

I need to get educated.

Fri. 8/14/09 8:33pm From: john

The whole Under The Skin album has that feel to it--basically acoustic and super-layered like that--brilliant, stunning. But Lindsey is teh awesum.

Fri. 8/14/09 8:34pm From: fatty jubbo

only the noise nerds still like cassettes.

Fri. 8/14/09 8:34pm From: john

The new Cheap Trick album is also coming out on 8-track. I will not speculate on the irony content.

Fri. 8/14/09 8:45pm From: Laurie

What the hell is PTL?

Pass The Loot.

Fri. 8/14/09 8:53pm From: Laurie

I was raised in a non-religious half-Jewish family. My dad was a high holy days Jew, that was it. My mom was agnostic.

I spent my adolescence in the Unitarian Universalist Church. Pretty much everyone in my youth group was bi. Hell, even one of the youth group leaders was bi, but he was married to a lady and monogamous. And we had another gay youth group leader who took in this poor gay kid who got disowned. :(

We did an About Your Sexuality program one summer. It was, uh, thorough. We even went on a field trip to Orlando of a UU Transgendered Summit!! Whee!

Fri. 8/14/09 8:59pm From: fatty jubbo

I made a point to silently repeatedly whisper "Satan" to myself during my confirmation. That said, however muted my family's church-going was, I am grateful for the wacky and hilarious damage Catholicism has inflicted on me.

Fri. 8/14/09 9:00pm From: ang

Try reading Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion". Or Christopher Hitchens' "God is Not Great." After 12 years of Catholic school, I could never believe in god. Any god. It is refreshing and pleasant to be an atheist and have no fear.

Fri. 8/14/09 9:04pm From: ang

Yes, fatty jubbo, it is true... I did have something to rebel against. I like your phrase, "wacky and hilarious damage". So sadly true. But now I can joke about it. And the 12 years made it so much easier & fun to read Joyce's "Ulysses".

Fri. 8/14/09 9:05pm From: bartleby

hey,
good show thus far. It's pre-september inventory re-boot over here at
my on-line retail book thing. Sort of a shirtless Humphrey Bogart in African Queen pushing the boat kind of scene here.

Fri. 8/14/09 9:06pm From: SoRefined

Not to detract from the heady comments above, but the conversation about the little Jewish hands had me rolling.

Fri. 8/14/09 9:06pm From: Laurie

Pseu, oh god. You're not lying about UU. Oh man, I had such a crush on this boy from California, and he was obsessed with my feet for some reason.

Everybody in my youth group was a freak.

Fri. 8/14/09 9:07pm From: Laurie

And I think I need some jpegs of Fatty Jubbo

Fri. 8/14/09 9:08pm From: ang

Bryce, I saw you at Crimson Grail! Cool Shirt. I have a photo to prove it. One day I will have to send it to you.

Fri. 8/14/09 9:16pm From: Mark

Blondie blasphemers!!!

Fri. 8/14/09 9:19pm From: bartelby

the scene is on youtube someplace. Basically the boat gets stuck and he gets out and has to push it out of the swamp, then katherine hepburn is shocked to see him covered in leeches, which she is kind enough to remove.

Fri. 8/14/09 9:40pm From: pseu

leave it to bartleby to kill a thread. Jesus.

Fri. 8/14/09 10:04pm From: Jed

Fri. 8/14/09 10:17pm From: Jed

Wm, is evil

Fri. 8/14/09 10:20pm From: Wendy del Formaggio

Jed, I know. This is a good thing.

Fri. 8/14/09 10:24pm From: Jed

Wm. must be destroyed by fire

Fri. 8/14/09 10:27pm From: bartleby

sorry, there was no malice of forethought

Fri. 8/14/09 10:30pm From: Glenn L

Wm. is sweet.
He took me in when I was destitute & homeless.

Fri. 8/14/09 10:31pm From: Jed

let's blow up Wm. for Xmas

Fri. 8/14/09 10:33pm From: Wendy del Formaggio

Hi Glenn!
Yes, Wm. is sweet. One can be sweet and evil. In fact, it's a good combination. Keeps 'em guessing.

Fri. 8/14/09 10:35pm From: Glenn L

Hi Wendy! Long time no cheesepost.
Hope things are going well.

Fri. 8/14/09 10:41pm From: Wendy del Formaggio

Hi Glenn! I know. If you listened to Wm.'s Castle of Quiet last week, you may have heard me talking about the cheese I gave him for his birthday. It was a live cheese performance.
Things are going relatively well. And with you?

Fri. 8/14/09 10:43pm From: Laurie

Oh wow, I didn't know I knew all of the lyrics to this Lucksmiths song.

Ooh, Outrageous Cherry. I was listening to This Mortal Coil or Dead Can Dance or something like that, and iTunes Genius recommended an Outrageous Cherry album to me. I mean, I love them! But most of their stuff... isn't really like that, you know? Yeah.

Fri. 8/14/09 10:56pm From: Glenn L

Laying low, Wendy. Avoiding the world at large & succeeding well beyond my wildest dreams.
No longer destitute or homeless, so no complaints.
Other than that lots & lots of work. Should have close to 60 hours before this week's through. Boring boring.

Sat. 8/15/09 11:35am From: mike tp
