Artist Track Comments
Big Guitars from Texas  Guitaret   I think I never played this one before!
The Bar-Kays  Whitehouseorgy   One word. From 1976, found on a Best of... collection but originally from "Too Hot to Stop"
Mar-Keys  Honey Pot   A mellow Memphis number to get the groove going
The A-Bones w/ Dave Baby Cortez  Cat Nip   Nice new album on Norton, with Ira Kaplan now in the band. And Dave Baby Cortez
Oliver Sain  Strollin'   Fine instrumental from St Louis
Howard Tate  Part Time Lover   Southern soul at its best, from 1967
OV Wright  Eight Men, Four Women   A song about the law of love!
Sugar Pie DeSanto  Can't Let You Go
Chuck Willis  Ring Ding Doo   From Okeh Rhythm & Blues Story, 1949-1957. Didja hear Mighty Hannibal talk about Chuck Willis?
Mighty Hannibal  All Nite Long   This 1964 number, from "Hannibalism", swings and shakes. Check out the great new CD collection on Norton.
Mighty Hannibal  Get in the Groove   This one's from 1970. And he's still doing it.
Gwen McCrae  Ain't Nothing You Can Do   Wow, I love this song. There are lotsa versions but this one rocks. I have it on a great collection, "Lost Soul" on Legacy
Delbert McClinton  It's Love Baby (24 Hours a Day)   Fort Worth's own... From "Genuine Cowhide"-- Delbert's great album of covers on ABC Records (1976)
James Booker  Gonzo   And he was. Great New Orleans keyboard man, died a few years back, but left some great tunes-- and stories to tell.
Rockin' Dopsie & his cajun twisters  Marie   Zydeco got soul. I have this on a great vinyl album on Sonet out of London: "Hold On" (1979)
Toots Hibbert  Hard to Handle   Toots cover Otis, from the incredible "Toots in Memphis" album (Mango, 1988)
Oumou Sangare  Kounadya   Soul from Mali! New album on Nonesuch is filled with this rich sound:
RB Graves  Take a Letter Maria   From "The Muscle Shoals Sound"
