You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

  Sun. 7/19/09 6:13am Azam:

Beautiful noise...I have to go out now, but will check out the archive later.
  Sun. 7/19/09 6:37am Graham Stark:

Morning Dan,
that Pulse Emitter track was beautiful. Where do you find all this good stuff?

Graham
  Sun. 7/19/09 6:46am nga:

i like this chalice of cypress songs. reminds me of lichens
  Sun. 7/19/09 6:54am Tom L (Hallock Hill):

Morning Dan. So far, so great.
  Sun. 7/19/09 6:59am andy/sunderland:

Morning Dan and everyone, great stuff! There is also a Scottish indie-rock Barn Owl. Not to confuse things further, like
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:02am Bob:

Love your show and Sunday mornings ... the Kiila is especially nice. This is probably a long shot ... but do you by any chance know of something I lost track of from 1969 .. phonetically like "wo ma neeko, wo man ney ... I'm so glad I'm not dead" ??? Might have been drived from Navaho. Would love to find it again.
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:07am Dan B:

I think this is it, Bob -- Jim Pepper, a native musician from the 70s
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:24am Bob:

Yeah. You made my day. Thanks so much. Your fan for life (and the earth)!
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:32am Dan B:

@Graham - the station has a pretty amazing library and music director. We're also lucky that a lot of the labels that put out this music send their stuff to us since we're one of the few places that will play it. Some other sources of info would be the Wire magazine out of the UK, Signal to Noise magazine from Vermont, lots of blogs and label websites...check out the Foxy Digitalis Blog, that's a good one.
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:41am anne:

hello Dan, from Tokyo! a pleasure to listen live finally. didja ever end up recording the sounds from the Hodges bridge or the sounds of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge?
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:46am Dan B:

Hi Anne, I am ashamed to say I haven't made it to those spots yet, though I did have the Jamaica Bay trip plotted in the spring and was put off by a sudden cold snap. Hoping to get to it this summer, plus I now have a correspondent who wants to do some recorder field work for me at places of my choosing, so I'm hoping to send her down there!
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:47am Dan B:

@ Andy -- a Scottish indie-pop Barn Owl?! Ugh. That's almost as disturbing as the indie rock band Toxic Airborne Event!
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:53am anne:

and with a new baby and all, you're prob a bit busy! congrats by the way
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:56am Caro:

Hi, d! I'm listening as I get ready for my trip. ouiche lorraine? hee
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:56am andy/s:

@Dan I know. It's disturbing that they are now above the show when you google 'airborne event'. Oh right Toxic, iseewhatyoudidthere!
  Sun. 7/19/09 7:59am Graham Stark:

Dan - thanks for that. I love the way there's always something here that's great, but I never new existed. Just like the late great John Peel used to be on the BBC.

I'm afraid I'm dipping in and out of the show because like pretty much everyone in England I'm listening to the cricket on Test Match Special - we're in danger of beating the Australians.

Graham
  Sun. 7/19/09 8:16am NS Andy:

A remarkably symmetrical melody!
  Sun. 7/19/09 8:20am andy/s:

Does this sound like a totally mangled version of the 'Sunday Morning' intro or is it just me?
  Sun. 7/19/09 8:24am Bas, NL:

Dropped everything to listen to Stockhausen.. and typing this comment ;)
Great music!
Bas
  Sun. 7/19/09 8:43am Doctor B.:

Stockhausen rocks! Great show! (Interesting backwards-masking on that Roy Orbison!)
  Sun. 7/19/09 8:51am Dan B:

@Bas - nice to hear from you, sir! @Dr. B - I know, that backmasking changed my life, now I'm going to do *exactly* what Roy said -- worship Stan, eat Saul's fur, and live in eternal blackness. @Car - have a great trip to Slovakia, watch out for the flying boulders of Muzduk the Mountain Man, Slovakia's first Harvard Law alum.
