city center live at 9:30

Sat. 7/18/09 9:28pm From: (mta) Tony

Tony wants to go out with his brand new car that has an awesome audio system installed and listen to fmu while driving somewhere accompanied by his wife. Any suggestions? Departing from the upper west side of Manhattan. Not interested in traveling out of the fmu listening area. All suggestions appreciated.

Sat. 7/18/09 9:39pm From: Robert Arthur

I have NEVER, ever felt like going out for a drive with my wife!
Tony, you are very, very lucky.
It's been 25 years since I drove in that area. Back then I would have, "Park it, Tony!" You gotta be newliweds. Go! Go!

Sat. 7/18/09 9:41pm From: mike g.

my pick is the lemon ice king of corona - i believe i've picked up the station there... i'd choose the safer "brooklyn ice cream factory" in greenpoint but it closed at 9.

Sat. 7/18/09 9:51pm From: (mta) Tony

Rob., thanx for replying. Pola and I've been together 10 years. We met when she lost her keys on the bus (not MY bus, though). Anyway, long short, she spent the day at Brighton Beach without me but I couldn't stop thinking of her. Yeah, we're both pretty lucky thank you. We do still get quite excited. Nice music to drive with, too, thanx to MG!

Sat. 7/18/09 10:00pm From: (mta) Tony

Mike g, thanx for the suggestion; the Brooklyn place would've been PERFECT since my Pola LOVES Brooklyn. She spent the day at Brighton and it would've been a cool surprise to've taken 'er back to that ice cream joint. I'll make a note of the place for future reference. Thanx again. Any others??? Anyone??? Don't be shy! I'm getting dressed now and need to know where I'm goin' at some point during this great show.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:08pm From: Ross

Can you please stream the Silk Flowers and Cold Cave sets too please????

Sat. 7/18/09 10:12pm From: mike g.

wish i could - city center recorded this set earlier today. we have the archives of the silk flowers & cold cave sets up on the 2/14 playlist and on the free music archives page.

mta (Tony) - Rutt's Hut in Clinton? or anywhere in Red Hook?

Sat. 7/18/09 10:14pm From: (mta) Tony

I'm considering the Lemon Ice King of Corona but that's an $11 toll away plus we'd definitely get lost. Sure sounds like fun, though, as in something completely different. They're open at midnight?

Sat. 7/18/09 10:17pm From: Ross

Mike, come to the Made in Mexico show next weekend in Irvine.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:17pm From: (mta) Tony

Maybe we'll take the 59th St. Bridge instead and waive the toll ripoff.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:18pm From: mike g.

(mta) Tony - definitely open till midnight - not definitely wfmu territory. take the queensboro bridge to avoid the toll and take thomson to the lie to 108th street.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:18pm From: mike g.

made in mexico in irvine? we'll be there!

the senior associate producer is very familiar with the social science trailer 103.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:19pm From: (mta) Tony

A free excursion to Red Hook sounds interesting as well. Thanx for a great night.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:20pm From: (mta) Tony

Your directions are most appreciated.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:21pm From: yeah yeah no

that last track was like no-wave-brazilian-grind-core

Sat. 7/18/09 10:23pm From: mike g.

actually - you could take the 59th street bridge to jackson avenue to the pulaski bridge and over to marlow & sons for some nice ice cream to go & sit off of kent overlooking the river...

Sat. 7/18/09 10:24pm From: Ross

Where's the Belgian cold wave?

Sat. 7/18/09 10:31pm From: clueless

Yo, M.G.: your show is the only place I've heard t.a.s.k. and I can't find much on them at all. I'm fiending for new stuff & it's your fault!

Sat. 7/18/09 10:35pm From: Ross

Tony, take her to the Cold Cave show.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:47pm From: (mta) Tony

Is there anything happening late night like now in Red Hook?

Ross, it's too late to go to a show and we wanna listen to MG's show w/the new car - thanx

Sat. 7/18/09 10:49pm From: mike g.

just hang out in the fairway parking lot and enjoy the sea breezes.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:53pm From: (mta) Tony

I swear to Christ, not 10 seconds ago, my Pola spoke about this very exact thing to do in Red Hook!!!! My God, we're both on the same page. You blew our minds! Here we are, talkin' 'bout going to Fairway just when you wrote it to us. The thing is, we've never been there but heard a lot about it because we shop at OUR Fairway uptown EVERY DAY since it's across the street! Amazing.

Sat. 7/18/09 10:54pm From: clueless

tony: break into ikea with your girl and trash everything. perfect date.

Sat. 7/18/09 11:07pm From: mike g.

clueless - glad you liked the t.a.s.k. - check out the floating di morel records too!

Sat. 7/18/09 11:11pm From: (mta) Tony

Great concept, clueless; the votes are in: we're going to Bay Ridge to pick up a pal who lives there and will escort us out to various locales. Thanks for all the suggestions; it was fun.

Sat. 7/18/09 11:23pm From: clueless
