Playlist for Inner Ear Detour with David - July 10, 2009

WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Sounds from the archive of the future, sonic drilling into the past, dissonant rumbling, lyrical melodies, noises (human, animal, mechanical, digital) inscrutable yet honest, desultory but consistent.

Fri. 7/10/09 3:11pm still b/p:

In a college writing class, I composed a story derived and expanded from the lyrics to St. Elmo's Fire. It was wretched and vacant, more awful than awful.

Now is the time on Sprockets when we dance.

Fri. 7/10/09 3:24pm north guinea hills:

was that a quote from the making of Fitzcarraldo?

Fri. 7/10/09 3:26pm Werner Herzog:

I took a trip to the Grand Canyon recently. It was horrible, a gigantic hole in the ground like the Earth had received a terrible wound. As I looked down into it's emptiness, the oppressiveness of the void and the banality of existance filled me with dread. Still, I loved it. This was the best I had felt all year.

Fri. 7/10/09 3:27pm Chris:

Best laugh I've had in quite some time Werner.
