So you like old crazy music, eh? Well, if I’m going to live here in your brain, I must do some housework. There are cobwebs all over the place in here. They must go. Very dusty too. Maybe if you laugh hard enough, it will all blow away and people will think you’re crazy. Feel free to talk back to me. I must keep you guessing and off balance. Please watch where you’re going…

Artist Track Album Label Comments Year
Flying Shelsons  BEST DAY I EVER HAD       This is Jay Wasco (from Johnny Skillsaw). Check out his website www.jaysmuseum.com to see his invention, the egotar (a bass and slide in one) and also check out "The Execution of Mr Met" (something Met fans have been clamoring for for years)
Root Boy Slim Sex Change band  BOOGIE TILL YOU PUKE       Born Foster McKenzie III, was a fratmate of George W Bush at Yale [DKE]. Got thrown out by the future Pres and banned for life, which ended in his sleep in 1993 at age 48.
Pale face  BURN AND ROB [Electric Version]       Learned to write songs from the expert, Daniel Johnston. Good friend and roomate of Beck. Collaborates with his long time girfriend and drummer Monica 'Mo' Samalot. Website is palefaceonline.com. New album released in April.
Liz Phair and Material Issue  BANANA SPLITS THEME   Cartoon's Greatest Hits    Theme from Hanna-Barbera's first live-action show from early 70s.  1995

Hugh Mility and Orchestra  BE HUMBLE     Horrible 45  Actually is Tony Burello, author of "There's a New Sound (the Sound of Worms)". Irwin and I met his widow and daughter, who gave us this and other records to share with the WFMU crowd.
Fugs  BOOBSALOT       Formed in 1964, with Tuli Kupferberg, Ed Sanders, Peter Stampfell and Steve Weber (of the Holy Modal Rounders) were larger-than-life figures in the NYC folk scene in the 60s and Anti-Woodstock in 1994
Duke of Iron  BIG BAMBOO       Cecil Anderson of Trinidad found his way to NYC in 20s and became one of the biggest Calypso stars around. Appeared in 1957 film Calypso Joe with Angie Dickenson
Rae Cox  BASEBALL GIRL       We've all gone to a movie or a game with someone like this. Otherwise no info available.
Pink Holes  BASEBALL PARK FUN   Breakfast with the Holes    Les Black's Legendary Black holes and the view of a baseball game from the eyes of a weird child. From Cleveland, where anything goes. Bandmate Bob Ritchey's (AKA Kurt Turd) mom was a member of the Pony Tails ("Born too Late")
Firesign Theatre  BEAR WHIZ BEER       A classic. Go to eagletshirts.com for tee shirts (and where were the Firesign's lawyers while all this was going on?)
Pumpkin Uglies  BORIS THE SPIDER   Rockin the Graveyard    No info available
Coasters  BULL TICK WALTZ       Atco #6251 [The P.T.A. (1/11/63) / Bull Tick Waltz (7/31/62)] Used to be Carl Gardner & Coasters, inducted into Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1987

Stinky the Spuds  BREAKFAST       Stinky & the Spuds were from Westfield NJ and could really rock. I'm not sure this is them. Could I have written it down wrong? LIsteners?
Rev Billy C Wirtz  BERNIE THE TOASTER       A real Reverend (First Church of Polyester Worship)from Aiken SC, now lives in Cocoa beach FL.
Mystery Tour  BALLAD OF PAUL       A tour of all the clues about Paul's death. For more see ludix.com/moriarty/paul and you'll be convinced. So who's opening Citi Field then?
Rick Schulman  BALLAD OF GUMBY   Green Album: a Tribute to Gumby and Pokey    Gumby's story is pretty complicated. See Dorian Devins' interview with Art Clokey in "Best of LCD" from WFMU. Also try to catch 2007 film "Gumby Dharma"
Leonard Nimoy  BILBO BAGGINS   Highly Illogical    Mr Spock also sings, believe it or not. Oddly enough Nimoy was in a Man from U.N.C.L.E. episode with William Shatner in 1964 (Project Strigas Affair). Replaced Martin Landau in "Mission Impossible" (Landau was an early choice for Spock). "In Search of ..." reached low point with "In Search of Good Moo Goo Gai Pan"
Gordons and Hank Jones Trio  BEBOPPER   Beat Generation [Rhino box set]    Honey Gordon, George Gordon, George Gordon Jr and Richard Gordon. Hank Jones Trio was Hank Jones, Charles Mingus & Max Roach.
Cordell Jackson  BEBOPPER'S XMAS       Cordell (7/15/23-10/14/04) was first woman to produce, engineer, arrange and promote music on her own label [Moon Records]. Appeared in a memorable Bud Light commercial where she interrupts Brian Setzer in the studio and shows him a thing or two about rock n roll. Find her on You Tube for a real treat.
Louis Jordan  BARNYARD BOOGIE       Born in Brinkley AR (7/8/08-2/4/75). His father was leader of the Rabbit's Foot Minstrels, which gave career shoves to the likes of Bessie Smith, Butterbeans & Susie, Ma Rainey, Ida Cox, Big Joe Williams, Rufus Thomas, Brownie McGhee... Should I go on? The REAL father of Rock n Roll.

Mike Toomey  BABY I'M DEAD       Mike is a stand up comedian from the Chicago area. When this song came out, some folks actuallly thought it was the King.
