Mon. 3/9/09 10:12am Cecile:

Yes, the eye was my "eye"dea.
He was going to write something on his forehead for me, and I suggested a third eye. Being station manager Ken, Ike tells me that he actually glued an eye on his forehead. LOL! Going that extra mile.

Mon. 3/9/09 10:29am bw:

Das bekannteste Stück von Eroc, der Instrumentaltitel Wolkenreise , entstand 1978 als Hintergrundmusik zu einem Schauspiel der Band, das seinerzeit die Konzerte eröffnete. The most famous piece of Eroc, the instrumental title clouds travel, created in 1978 as background music to a drama of the band that has opened the concerts. Nachdem es dann 1979 auf dem Album Eroc 3 erschienen war, entwickelte sich die eingängige, gelöste Melodie mit Akkordeon zum Radiohit (32 Wochen in den Airplay-Charts). Since then in 1979 the album was released Eroc 3, developed the catchy, melody with accordion resolved at radio (32 weeks in the airplay charts). Wolkenreise wurde als Single veröffentlicht und erreichte Platz 32 der deutschen Charts. Clouds travel was released as a single and reached the place 32 of the German charts. Es war der einzige Singleerfolg von Eroc oder Grobschnitt. It was the only single Eroc and the success of Grobschnitt.

Mon. 3/9/09 10:34am pd360:

Checking in from Denton, TX

Mon. 3/9/09 10:43am Cecile:

Billy Jam, the Eire Soul Man!

Mon. 3/9/09 10:43am stingy d:

how about some e-40?

Mon. 3/9/09 10:44am Hugo:

Ah, Faust! Coming to town at the end of the month.

BTW, what's the cartoon? I presume it must be Belgian or French. Brussels is a great place for cartoons. You can find shops full of les bandes dessinées ...

Mon. 3/9/09 10:46am Carmichael:

Good morning, BW and friendly others. Billy & Dusty's show last Friday was the funniest thing on radio in a loooooong time!

And this whole Faust fest on this station is wonderful too. Now, if you'd only treat Hawkwind with the same reverence ...

Mon. 3/9/09 10:50am Ike:

Carmichael, agreed on Friday -- Billy Jam and Clay Pigeon were great together, but possibly even more hilarious was Bryce vs. Irwin earlier the same day. And Hawkwind gets lots of airplay here. I think Stan plays them often but he doesn't do a playlist usually.

Mon. 3/9/09 10:52am BSI:

A Hawkwind a day is better 'n vitamins.

Mon. 3/9/09 10:53am Cecile:

Scott plays lotsa Hawkwind.

I loved that Irwin kept trying to taunt Bryce, and Bryce kept agreeing with him. LOL!

Mon. 3/9/09 10:54am Cecile:

Get up on the floor
We're going to boogie oogie oogie
until Billy and Benjamin can't boogie no more

Mon. 3/9/09 10:55am BSI:

Bryce was on his best behavior that day, perhaps due to becoming one of the Adopted Ones...

Mon. 3/9/09 10:57am Cecile:

the Chosen...

You adopted him, right?

Mon. 3/9/09 10:58am BSI:

yep. and he has yet to learn how to go on the papers...

Mon. 3/9/09 10:59am Carmichael:

Good to hear about Scott's superior music taste. I got a heavy dose of Hawkwind, Horslips and Thin Lizzy this weekend, as well as some Dread Zeppelin as a chaser.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:01am Pearly Sweets:

Hawkwind for your heavy days. Gong for when its time to chill out.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:02am Cecile:

Two words, BSI, puppy pads.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:02am Carmichael:

I tried to like Gong, but they didn't take.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:03am BSI:

...although, early Hawkwind mixes well with Camebert Electrique... add a dash of early Guru Guru and you've got a heady cocktail of psychic menace...

Mon. 3/9/09 11:05am annie:

i'm not one for chatting, personally. but you should entreat the listeners.. music begets complacency.. talk, dammit!

Mon. 3/9/09 11:06am Cecile:

some music makes me want to kill people.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:06am Pearly Sweets:

Daevid Allen's Gong is always very enjoyable. When it became Pierre Moerlen's Gong, I stop following so much.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:07am BSI:

Cecile: The puppy pads had a strange pheromone-like effect on the poor thing. I took photos of what happened but they were promptly seized by the DC police dept... Insectoid DJs are notoriously hard to train.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:08am Carmichael:

My next band will be called Puppy Pads.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:09am Cecile:

oh, dear. Perhaps you need the services of a professional insect trainer.

Steveroo, at the end of the marathon, all your pledges will be added up, and you will get an invoice for the total amount. That final amount, and not the amount of any individual pledge, will determine your swag level, installment-plan privileges and so forth. Mon. 3/9/09 11:49am Carmichael:

On WFMU and also at the local Burmese restaurant. Seriously, there's a Nepalese restaurant in town, and they play "modern" stuff like this all the time.

Not to mention the way over the top melodramatic Vietnamese pop genre.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:51am Jorge:

A que venimos sino a caer :)

Mon. 3/9/09 11:51am Ike:

Sadly, the really good Burmese restaurant in Jackson Heights closed. Burmese food is GREAT. There are some good ones in the D.C. area.

If anybody is holding back: Don't wait. For one thing, the chances of winning a prize are far better BEFORE this weekend and the big finale.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:53am dc pat:

Ike, what are the good Burmese joints in DC?

Mon. 3/9/09 11:54am Glenn L:

Hi y'all, was just browsing the comments from earlier.

Stingy D, FYI - the PATH only accepts LIMITED Metrocards.

Annie, if you take the Metro North to GCT you should get the 4 or 5 subway down to Fulton st., get out and walk the 2 blocks west to the WTC Path. Way easier than walking from GCT to Penn Station & then taking 2 Path trains.

Mon. 3/9/09 11:54am Sean Daily:

So what the artist is trying to convey is that he sees the girls in their mee-nee skirts? It's a very subtle theme...

Mon. 3/9/09 11:55am annie:
