Fri. 2/20/09 9:05am From: Parq

Yo Doug, and howdy Miss Linc! All your fans are psyched for your return.

Fri. 2/20/09 9:06am From: annie

Fri. 2/20/09 9:07am From: PMD

Hi Lincoln!!!

Fri. 2/20/09 9:09am From: annie

PMD, did you get all your work done yesterday? and i loved that sentence structure thing. imagine what dubya's would look like!

Fri. 2/20/09 9:12am From: monica

hola lincoln! i hear you can dj your dad under the table.

Fri. 2/20/09 9:12am From: texas scott

Good morning,Doug and Lincoln.
Nice music for a Friday!

Fri. 2/20/09 9:15am From: Parq

Lincoln, if there's anything you don't understand today, be sure to ask Dad. That's the only way to learn, is to ask questions. Don't worry if he's on mike, just ask away!

Fri. 2/20/09 9:15am From: fishmonkeystew

Howdy, Doug, Lincoln, and all! Hey Doug, I just watched Calle 54 the other night. There are some amazing performances in that film. Ever see it? There's a piece by Chucho Valdes that is phenomenal!

Fri. 2/20/09 9:17am From: trev

Though if he is on Mike, you might want to check that Mike's given his consent.

Fri. 2/20/09 9:18am From: PMD

I did indeed slash and burn my budget. Eyes were crossed by the end of the day from staring at Excel. I'd much rather diagram sentences all day.
What's Lincoln's favorite music/band?

Fri. 2/20/09 9:20am From: annie

Fri. 2/20/09 9:22am From: Doug and Lincolon

Good morning everyfunkybody!

Fri. 2/20/09 9:23am From: paul from Sheffield UK

Hi there. Great music. Cheers !!

Fri. 2/20/09 9:25am From: Parq

Fish, isn't C.54 killer? I love the look of it, with a wash of color distinguishing each sequence. The interview with Puente on City Island, the lush black-and-white O'Farrell piece, it's truly a marvel.

Fri. 2/20/09 9:26am From: sebastian

ha! you can't come in, the party is not for ugly people...

Fri. 2/20/09 9:28am From: Paul Sherratt UK

Hey Sheffield Paul, does that community radio station in your city still have that latin music programme ?

Fri. 2/20/09 9:30am From: fishmonkeystew

Parq, you're absolutely right. I thought it blew away the Bueno Vista Social Club (though I enjoyed that one, too). I have to say, the expressions on Tito Puente's face while he played were hilarious. Like a living cartoon. Great film!

Fri. 2/20/09 9:32am From: annie

if she is bold enough, and i know she is, my friend aiko from san diego is here.. aiko.. ? welcome to the sandbox..

Fri. 2/20/09 9:33am From: Bob

Is one of the Schulkinds stapling something?

Fri. 2/20/09 9:34am From: PMD

Fri. 2/20/09 9:35am From: jk

I just tuned in and wouldn't have known.

Fri. 2/20/09 9:35am From: paul from Sheffield UK

Hi Paul Sherratt. I'm pretty sure we still have that. FM reception is pretty dire where I am. It's all the hills. This WFMU station is terrific.

Fri. 2/20/09 9:58am From: PMD

I'm surprised Lincoln didn't mention anything related to High School Musical. Not that I want to hear that...but still

Fri. 2/20/09 9:59am From: trev

I'm a uk resident not called paul, is that allowed in here? I feel a bit left out...

Fri. 2/20/09 10:01am From: Paul Sherratt

trev,
It might get a bit confusing - why not simply have a name change for a couple of hours ?

Fri. 2/20/09 10:09am From: postmanpaul

Paul Sherratt - i'm afraid your postcode does not appear on our files but welcome to the coven. and all pauls named trev.

I just sent Darling* a large Paycheck ..

* US people.Mr Darling is in charge of money matters in the UK

Fri. 2/20/09 10:31am From: owen

whenever anyone refers to "Darling" i always imagine him as a WW2 pilot...

Fri. 2/20/09 10:33am From: Carmichael

Nothing like waking to some AM rockabilly. Hi Doug and Lincoln (? I missed that part) and everyone. Some Gene Vincent would rock the joint 'bout now.

Fri. 2/20/09 10:34am From: Carmichael

Is he duetting with Yma Sumac?!?

Fri. 2/20/09 10:42am From: Paul Sherratt

Carmichael,

I believe Gene Vincent may be recording some new sides with John Peel ..

Fri. 2/20/09 10:43am From: postmanpaul

cecile, yeah didn't it. however; 'paulcine' gender/segue tickled me.

Fri. 2/20/09 10:45am From: Cecile

awww. thanks!

Paul S., what a nice thought.

Fri. 2/20/09 10:50am From: annie

Love everything!

Fri. 2/20/09 10:51am From: Cecile

I will, annie!

Fri. 2/20/09 10:54am From: Parq

There was a little spanish flea
A record star he thought he'd be
He heard of singers like Beatles
and Chipmunks he'd seen on TV
Why not a little spanish flea?
And so he hid
Inside a dog

Fri. 2/20/09 10:54am From: PMD

Thank goodness for archives. I just had a conference call and missed the first part of Lincoln's set! arg!

Fri. 2/20/09 10:55am From: Steve from London

What a great set! Making a boring afternoon at work more bearable. Great work Lincoln!

Fri. 2/20/09 10:56am From: annie

lincoln, you have to tell us the movie this is from...

Fri. 2/20/09 10:58am From: annie

ok, ok.... i just read the list.. love that song.

Fri. 2/20/09 10:59am From: Carmichael

Parq,

The only reason I know those lyrics is because Homer Simpson sang them while waiting for Bart to get out of the Spinal Tap concert.

Fri. 2/20/09 11:01am From: Sean Daily

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!

Fri. 2/20/09 11:02am From: PMD

Parq and Carmichael... where is it from?

Fri. 2/20/09 11:03am From: Bob

Just yesterday I stumbled across a YouTube video of Getz and Coltrane doing Monk's "Hackensack" with Paul Chambers, Oscar Peterson, and Jimmy Cobb: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-2uBeMgV4I

Fri. 2/20/09 11:03am From: ?

ok, this is kind of off topic, but has anyone else had a bad experience with www.anthologyrecordings.com, trying to download China Shop - 21 puffs on the cassette... annie im looking your way

Fri. 2/20/09 11:08am From: postmanpaul

LINCOLN, I'VE TYPED YOUR NAME BIG to attract your attention!!! Well Done!!! And if i was Keili Hamilton i'd be getting really nervous right now!

Fri. 2/20/09 11:09am From: annie

?- wow that is a new site for me.. i'll register and check it out. does it cost money to download?

Fri. 2/20/09 11:11am From: Parq

PMD, the original song was a hit for Herb Alpert as an instrumental in the 60s. Like all hit instrumentals, it had lyrics grafted onto it so that singers could cover it. As my colleague points out, Homer Simpson redefined it.

Fri. 2/20/09 11:13am From: Carmichael

Parq, wasn't the Herb Alpert version used on The Dating Game?

Fri. 2/20/09 11:14am From: ?

Hey Annie, yes it does. Problem is I've paid but still no MP3... was just checking with you WFMU folk if u had any experience with that site. Cause I want China shop so bad but so far no dice...

Fri. 2/20/09 11:16am From: Duncan

Hey, the Command All Stars! I saw this on the label's web site. Keith Tippett et al.

Fri. 2/20/09 11:16am From: annie

Fri. 2/20/09 11:25am From: ?

Thanks Annie, its ok I'll just look thru Ebay or something. Its the same ? that you helped with finding that Tom Waits song! Have a great day! Lovin the sounds Doug!
