Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from February 10, 2009 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

The Necks  Live in the WFMU Studio   Favoriting Engineered by Irene Trudel  The Necks hail fron Sydney, Australia and since 1987 have utilized the piano/bass/drums format in a singular, unorthodox fashion that has left them uncategorizable, yet critically-acclaimed and in high demand from jazz, ambient, and avant-rock festivals. This past year, the trio of Chris Abrahams (piano) Tony Buck (drums, percussion) and Lloyd Swanton (stand-up bass) performed their sprawling, dense, and tranced-out pieces at four shows at their hometown Sydney Opera House, and now arrive in America for a short Northeast tour that including shows February 10th at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC, and Feb 11th at Princeton University, as well as this afternoon on Brian's show. More info at thenecks.com. Thanks to Irene for engineering, Regina Greene for coordination, and the Necks!    1:01:24 (Pop-up)
