I fear that had Jesus never come and done his thing, we would be just as fucked up by another religious system here in our western world. Probably Islam. Islam is no better, and probably a good sight worse, than modern Christianity.
Men would have adopted religion in any form in order to exert their influence over society.
I say we keep Jesus, at least for now.
