second comment!!!

Mon. 2/2/09 9:08am Ike:

I'm not much for clichés, so I won't say "woo hoo, first post" and "yee haw" doesn't seem to fit... hmmm... I'm at a loss. Too early.

Mon. 2/2/09 9:11am Bad Ronald:

You missed it Ike with all your deliberation...

Yahoo!

Mon. 2/2/09 9:11am annie:

poor little francie, smells bad already...

Mon. 2/2/09 9:12am annie:

BR- oddly, i really thought i was going to be second, what with the long interval there..

Mon. 2/2/09 9:14am Ike:

Yeah, we reversed ourselves somehow! It's my cat's fault.

Mon. 2/2/09 9:15am BW:

good morning all - its good to be here - internets and all

Mon. 2/2/09 9:15am detroitdave:

morning all, Hi Ben!

Mon. 2/2/09 9:24am BSI:

The DNS is overrated.
Long live them tubes!

Mon. 2/2/09 9:31am annie:

maybe francie will break chains wrapped around her chest! and then saunter down la strada!

Mon. 2/2/09 9:37am Parq:

Notably, WFMU has also grown more beautiful and more strong.

Mon. 2/2/09 9:37am /BW:

fraid not Annie- but you could upload alt version! anyone want to send in a pic I should insert? bwalker@gmail.com

Mon. 2/2/09 9:42am bw:

The pic at the top is by NYC photographer O Zhang - her show just closed.. but she has a solo show coming up at the Queens museum soon

Mon. 2/2/09 9:44am Vicki:

that woman in the first cartoon looks like Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins)

Mon. 2/2/09 9:58am bw:

heh - she does...

Mon. 2/2/09 10:01am sebastian:

what's with her neck in the romantic panel? maybe she's strong, but her flexibility is poor.

Mon. 2/2/09 10:10am bw:

this song.. is too long.. I just ran up and down the stairs 3x.. did 50 push ups...

Mon. 2/2/09 10:14am mp:

Mon. 2/2/09 10:17am BSI:

Mon. 2/2/09 10:19am Ike:

Ralph Stanley is awesome.

Mon. 2/2/09 10:20am Cecile:

God, they're posting my lifestory in a comic book.

*sniff*

Mon. 2/2/09 10:23am annie:

cecile, do you know anthony quinn?

Mon. 2/2/09 10:27am ratbone:

i missed everything but the words "hour and a half prog rock show". point me in that direction? thanks,r

Mon. 2/2/09 10:28am Cecile:

Oh, don't get me started on Lost Highway. There's some great, great stuff. But they definitely have their biases - especially them ragging on Jim Reeves.

As for the commercial 50s stuff, my dad as a sh*tkicker to the manor born both enjoyed Jim Reeves AND Hank Thompson and Lefty Frizell.
Sh*kickers need make out music. too.

Annie - No, unfortunately.
I haven't even watched Zorba the Greek.

Mon. 2/2/09 10:29am BSI:

yeh. what ratbone said.

Mon. 2/2/09 10:31am annie:

here ya go cecile... one of his best movies..

Mon. 2/2/09 10:31am annie:

Mon. 2/2/09 10:34am bw:

anyone know if Ralph Stanley and Charlie Louvin did in fact play together?

Mon. 2/2/09 10:34am annie:

hmmm. not sure about seeking out some pics BW, afraid of what might show up on the screen.. i think that la strada short is good, though

Mon. 2/2/09 10:38am still b/p:

I'm dizzy with stocking tops.

Mon. 2/2/09 10:40am Wise Words:

"Enough cataloguing for today".

Mon. 2/2/09 10:49am Coming Attractions:

"The Catalogue Girls!
...They know what goes where."

Mon. 2/2/09 10:50am dr:

What's the DJ's twitter username?

Mon. 2/2/09 10:52am Cecile:

focus group singer sounds like he copped Richard Thompson's vocal phrasing a little.

Mon. 2/2/09 10:52am My new slogan:

"Here I come, world! This time you're going to regret it!"

Mon. 2/2/09 10:55am jaypee:

Woah, an old Front 242 sample.

Good morning!

Mon. 2/2/09 11:09am Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!

Mon. 2/2/09 11:18am ?:

is he really singing "good morning, idiot"? Ohayo, bakayarou!

Mon. 2/2/09 11:28am Joe:

I'm not quite sure what this song's about.

Mon. 2/2/09 11:29am BSI:

...would dovetail nicely into TVOD...

Mon. 2/2/09 11:29am Joe:

Wait, I got it now..

Mon. 2/2/09 11:31am Joe:

no attitude - I thoroughly enjoyed it. Oh if only there was tone on the internet...

Mon. 2/2/09 11:34am Sean Daily:

That woman's lucky those tweezers didn't stick in her head...

Mon. 2/2/09 11:35am Parq:

BW, you're completely right. I walk to work too, and I regularly give thanks for missing what I'm missing.

Mon. 2/2/09 11:35am Bruce:

Tenth...avenue...tweeze-out...!

Mon. 2/2/09 11:36am dc pat:

totally with you Liz B. To me it's the same thing as some one broadcasting their boring lives on a cell phone

Mon. 2/2/09 11:41am Parq:

Pat, are there still places in urban America where you don't have to put up with that? Out of curiosity, I paid close attention while walking one day. In three blocks, on a busy lunchtime in midtown, the number of passers-by not holding cell phones to their ears or yaking into headsets could be counted on one hand.

Mon. 2/2/09 11:45am BW:

parq - I noticed the same thing recently... and all I can say is just think how it will be when cell phones work on the subway!!!

Mon. 2/2/09 11:46am C:

i can't wait. i kind of like hearing random conversations.

Mon. 2/2/09 11:48am annie:

those people on cell phones? they're all calling stella!

Mon. 2/2/09 11:50am cd pat:

yeah. Cell phones are people's tangible neuroses. I once watched a woman on the metro sit and look at her phone every 10 seconds on a 15 minute ride. What the fuck was she looking for??

C: but when the conversation is ALWAYS the following it drives one nuts:
"Hey. Yeah, I'm on the bus. No, I'm on the bus. Yeah, I'll be there in 10 minutes. Yeah, cool, ok...."

Mon. 2/2/09 11:51am BW:

ok this week lets all pay attention.. and each post the best thing we hear next week.. can't wait

Mon. 2/2/09 11:52am still b/p:

That's it?
Francine O' Connor -- Empress of the Anti-Climax.

Mon. 2/2/09 11:54am Parq:

I agree with Still - that story ended as abruptly and prematurely as a Tom Wolf novel.

You got it, BW. I may even take notes. See ya next week.

Mon. 2/2/09 11:54am dc pat:

BW: I already did. I mean why can't somebody for just once say something like. "While I was composing my 3rd string quartet last night, I had an epiphany about the relation between sub-atomic physics and Western music theory...and then I built a rocket out of toilet paper rolls, dish soap, and egg yolks...

Mon. 2/2/09 11:54am annie:

i think the artist was just getting a kick out of drawing hot criminal-type chicks.

Mon. 2/2/09 11:56am dc pat:

don't get me wrong, if I had a cell phone and used it on the bus, I'd sound just as stupid.

Mon. 2/2/09 11:57am bw:

ok everyone. this will be fun! see you next week
