Tue. 12/16/08 9:14am From: fishmonkeystew

Good morning, Jason and Annie and everyone lurking. Jason, I'm stoked to hear Barnacled today. Providence is a hop skip and a jump away from me and I've been searching for new bands to stalk. yee haw.

Tue. 12/16/08 9:21am From: Jason

Tue. 12/16/08 9:45am From: dc pat

Tue. 12/16/08 9:47am From: mp

Tue. 12/16/08 9:55am From: Jason

thanks dc pat. mp i'll treat that as a request

Tue. 12/16/08 9:59am From: mp

thanks, it's amazing how that cross genre mixing has been around in providence for so long. something i've just been getting into/realizing. great show.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:06am From: paulthepostman

mp - its mainly cross gender mixing here in Brighton!

Hi everyone in wfmuland.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:08am From: mp

i applaud all cross mixing anywhere.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:10am From: annie

Tue. 12/16/08 10:11am From: annie

Tue. 12/16/08 10:14am From: THE WORLD

Hi Annie, sun sets in 30mins...howyadiddlin?!
Hope the weekend was cool.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:16am From: annie

my weekend was great, i saw my son, he rocks!!! hung out with his pals and drank beer and watched a ball game..

Tue. 12/16/08 10:16am From: Chad

Yo, does anyone else hear some nasty cracklies on the stream? Sounds like digital distortion. Anyone else getting this?

Tue. 12/16/08 10:17am From: paulthepostman

The World? slack pasting..!

Tue. 12/16/08 10:18am From: annie

chad, after a while i just do not question the noises emitted by my speakers, no cracklins here,

Tue. 12/16/08 10:19am From: Chad

Hmm. Maybe it's on my end then. :(

Tue. 12/16/08 10:19am From: paulthepostman

Nice, was that baseball, Annie?

Tue. 12/16/08 10:20am From: Raf

Morning, Jason! Late start but with you now.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:21am From: annie

PTP, it was the dallas/giants game. very tedious, dallas won. football. almost 4 hours of commercials and ads and some game-time. chilled with the kids, is what i got out of it. nice bunch..

Tue. 12/16/08 10:24am From: fishmonkeystew

The Providence music scene kicks some major ass. My first small club experience was at Club Babyhead when I was 18. I'd make the hour drive every weekend to go catch a show. It didn't even matter who was playing-there was always something good.

Chad, if you have a program running that is heavy on the RAM, it'll distort your sound. Photoshop does that to me.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:24am From: Petri

I feel like I woke up in a recovery room after a heavy heavy cutting, and saw just a glimse of a rarely seen a bat species: hospital pastor. And I really liked the sound of a trumpet it played..

Tue. 12/16/08 10:31am From: mp

hey petri, that happened to me last week without the trumpet, i think mine was french horn.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:31am From: Ken

Chad - Who is your ISP? Comcast by any chance?

Tue. 12/16/08 10:35am From: Carmichael

Aloha, Jason. Please keep up the eclecticly good work.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:36am From: panda123

live from E 85 st!

Tue. 12/16/08 10:36am From: Petri

hey mp, if there is a next time, hope not, the instrument would be tuba, ´cause especially in pop music you never hear it played, why is that?

Tue. 12/16/08 10:40am From: Carmichael

I saw Taj Mahal once on TV in the '70s, playing "Cake Walk Into Town" with only a tuba player as backup. I classified it under "funky" .....

Tue. 12/16/08 10:40am From: mp

probably because the string bass replaced the tuba around 1895. more pop tuba!

Tue. 12/16/08 10:44am From: dc pat

I think Ridiculous Trio has a trombone player instead of a bass player...

Tue. 12/16/08 10:46am From: GP

Also late to the show...Windows stream sounds fine on this end.
Morning everyone.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:46am From: Cecile

agh, too f'ing cold here in the Midwest.

Well, after 2 days of tweaking, Windows media works again...

Tue. 12/16/08 10:46am From: annie

si i started to catalogue all my vinyl. song title, writers, performers, album title, label, etc.. 7 down, 6,993 to go.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:48am From: annie

hi cecile , did you get my email? glad to have you back.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:48am From: Cecile

ay caramba!

Tue. 12/16/08 10:49am From: Cecile

Yes, I did, I was lax about responding.
that is a genius idea for composting, we'll see how perky we are in the spring. thank you!

Tue. 12/16/08 10:49am From: annie

word, i am still staring at the barrel i have. i love the wheels!!

Tue. 12/16/08 10:50am From: Duke

Chad
I was getting clicks and pops on the 32k mp3 stream, but I switched to the Ogg stream and they went away.

BTW, great show!

Tue. 12/16/08 10:54am From: Ike

32k AAC+ sounds good here. I'm so glad I'm not stuck with dismal Windows Media, that plague upon the Earth.

Tue. 12/16/08 10:55am From: Petri

I stucked up with the idea... Jim Hendrix, the song Angel acoustic guitar with tuba, that would be good!

Tue. 12/16/08 11:02am From: fishmonkeystew

Dirty Dozen Brass Band has a tuba. And they rock.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:03am From: Carmichael

Ya Fish. I saw them play with Zachary Richard, and they rocked the place up.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:04am From: mp

the hungry march band has a kickin' tuba.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:07am From: Cecile

I think rock stopped using the tuba because of the Coasters' "D.W. Washburn", because, really, who could top that? ;)

Tue. 12/16/08 11:11am From: fishmonkeystew

My brother-in-law plays in a couple of bands down in Athen, GA (Jazzcronic and Free Lunch, amongst others), and he's been know to play the sousaphone, though his weapon of choice is the sax.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:12am From: Carmichael

Plus, it's hard to do the duck-walk or look like a sex machine to all the chicks while playing a tuba.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:15am From: Parq

The Stumblebum Brass Band is currently a trio of trumpet-vocals, tuba and snare drum. They did a good set at Rodeo recently. But the ne plus ultra of rock tuba will always be Deathtounge, the fictional metal band created by Berke Breathed. Drums, electric tounge and a penguin on tuba. Hi all, glad I didn't miss Barnacled.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:16am From: Carmichael

The Dixie Power Trio plays a whacked-out version of "Stairway to Heaven". The tuba blows Jimmy Page away ....

Tue. 12/16/08 11:16am From: Miles

This track "Title" has been stuck in my head for a month - which is a very good thing. For more info about tonight's gig at the Bowery Poetry Club check out www.espdisk.com thanks Jason and Barnacled. Long Live WFMU.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:16am From: risky!

go barnacled! go go go! go !

Tue. 12/16/08 11:18am From: zorra

Barnacled was great at don pedro's in brooklyn last night--if you missed it, you really should see 'em tonight at the bowery poetry club!

Tue. 12/16/08 11:19am From: Carmichael

This song seems to lend itself well to extreme interpretive dance.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:28am From: zorra

yes! always more dancing :)

Tue. 12/16/08 11:33am From: north guinea hills

this "vulcanizing society" track is rather stunning....

Tue. 12/16/08 11:34am From: alaska

barnacled kill!

Tue. 12/16/08 11:37am From: Hatch

Time to play some Davey Graham:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/dec/16/folk-legend-davey-graham-dies

Tue. 12/16/08 11:40am From: north guinea hills

oh shitty tits! davey graham is dead! : (

Tue. 12/16/08 11:41am From: Carmichael

Shit, that's terrible. Maybe he'll finally get some peace in his life, er, his "thereafter". I played the album Hat a million times a day at one point. A true virtuoso.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:44am From: mike

holy
that was so good

Tue. 12/16/08 11:49am From: Raf

Awesome set!

Alright! Hey, Barnacled you rule! I'll be seeing you guys on January 10th at AS220 in Providence. Sweeeet.

Tue. 12/16/08 11:57am From: Cecile

Tue. 12/16/08 12:00pm From: Petri
