Listener comments!

  9:06am
Bad Ronald:

Sean?
  9:10am
Dickdong (UK):

Hatch - Thank you for the music ... May you go far.
  9:10am
Parq:

Ron, I don't think he's up (or at his desk, whichever) yet at this hour.
  9:13am
Bad Ronald:

Oh yeah he's in Vegas...
  9:13am
David(Copenhagen, Denmark):

Thanks for the NWW track. Is it correct that there is going to be an interview with SS in Brian Turners program today?
  9:14am
mike:

how new is this new look? it's sharp!
  9:16am
Hatch:

You mean the "look" of the playlist? I redesigned the page for election season about... two weeks ago? The color scheme is stolen hook, line, and sinker from the McCain campaign site.
  9:17am
Hatch:

And yes, Steven Stapleton will be on with Brian this afternoon.
  9:17am
mummybreath:

have you seen the McCain's brain youtube vids? Woof..
  9:20am
GP:

Morning Hatch and everyone..
Hatch, what software are you using to generate the playlist and the message board?
  9:27am
C:

I have a problem with you substituting WFMU for Palin on your ticket, Hatch. FMU is much hotter than her.
  9:27am
fishmonkeystew:

Nice creepy set. My coworkers are looking at me strangely again. Not that that's unusual.
  9:31am
Jim:

Goblin. Cool.
  9:33am
lurdan:

what? oh no.
  9:33am
gumby:

Hatch say it ain't so! Why you gotta go?
  9:33am
PMD:

Aw, Hatch! We'll miss you.
  9:34am
Bad Ronald:

You will be missed...
  9:34am
?:

do you think that most of the country will vote in a panic for McKKKain - because of old dirty party tricks such as gay marriage, abortion, race and gun rights?
  9:35am
JCityJensen + DavidLeeRoth:

Happy New Year Hatch!
  9:35am
GP:

Hatch...please don't cal this a "rescue"...it needs to stay called a "bailout". A rescue implies that someone will be saved. most likely a victim....In this case the only ones who are to be saved are Wall-Street bakers, who will be bailed out faster than fraternity party boys on a Sunday morning.
  9:35am
Parq:

The home stretch of the election season without Hatch? Oh man, I've looked at the new sked several times, and it just didn't sink in. Denial, I guess.
  9:36am
GP:

bakers?...should be bankers
  9:36am
Bad Ronald:

I've been dying to hear "Psycho" by Jack Kittel...
  9:37am
Hatch:

Link me to some scary images for the playlist, buddies. We're gonna get back into Halloween mode later on, but the playlist today should be all scary, all the time.
  9:38am
C:

Yeah, could you do a special fill-in on election day morning?
  9:39am
JCityJensen + DavidLeeRoth:

that would be awesome - Hatch Election Marathon!
  9:39am
Parq:

GP, I'm against the bailout in its present form (or any form that's likely to pass), but I wish people would get off this kick that only Wall St fatcats are suffering. As has been pointed out several times on this board, the fatcats have wide safety nets, while the real suffering will be among those whose futures are tied to pension funds, non-profit endowments and that sort of thing.

Hatch:

Exactly it's the retirees who are fucked. They are infinitely more fucked than the hedge fund assholes.
  9:41am
mummybreath:

Tell me you're taking a break to try out them fishing tips of yore!?
  9:44am
Hatch:

Yes, I am leaving to write a book of fishing tips... HAUNTED FISHING TIPS!!!
  9:48am
Parq:

H, I haven't held a fishing pole since age 12, and I would buy that book in a minute. In hardcover. At list price.
  9:49am
C:

John McCain for White House chef!
  9:49am
Hatch:

I will be doing an election day special, by the way... look out for details.
  9:50am
GP:

Agreed Parq and Hatch....These issues need to be worked out...

Yummmm. ribs
  9:50am
stingy d:

i'll be sorry to see you go too hatch. you played mort garson and woody guthrie.... and i missed those too... missing is going to be the running theme
  9:50am
Dickdong:

John McCain for a hot dog stand on Wall Street.
  9:51am
Hatch:

Personally, I vote John McCain for Bar-B-Q Pope,
  9:52am
Swami:

Takin me back to the Cat Club. Takin me back to bailouts, the quaint ol SnL bailout of the quaint 1980's
  9:53am
Parq:

What show was that rib thing from?
  9:53am
mummybreath:

Like the Haunted Fishing Tips idea. Maybe you could follow up with "Frog gigging, the SWAMP THING WAY"
  9:54am
Dickdong:

Does that mean mccain bbq's the pope or the pope bbq's mccain?
  9:55am
Hatch:

The ribs were cooked on the Rachael Ray show. I mean McCain should be elected Pope of BBQ, by the cardinal college of BBQers.
  10:01am
jason:

i think i heard about these from the main blog but they are still smokin

Bad Ronald:

Oh yeah I re-Member that flick - ouch!
  10:02am
GP:

To get in banned in Japan is pretty bad...usually anything goes there.
  10:09am
kwhitehead:

This Euphoria record is a good one to enjoy your marijuana to.
  10:10am
Rob:

Hatch, it's been a pleasure to hear you on Tuesdays, I hope that it works out alright for you.
  10:11am
Bad Ronald:

Yay - Basket Case!
  10:19am
Bad Ronald:

Dig this Beatles cover!
  10:19am
GP:

I see where the diner scene in Mulholland Drive just got voted as the scariest scene in any movie evar.
  10:24am
Lang:

Dearest Hatch,
You have been my Tuesday morning savior and I will miss you so terribly. Maybe I can call you up on Tues mornings and you can update me on the political goings on of the day or tell me about the latest movie you saw or plan to see and I can just be quiet on my end of the line....
I loved your show HATCH!!! I patiently and hopefully await your return to the airwaves. XO
  10:25am
mummybreath:

Hatch, you're my coconut fudge!
  10:26am
JCityJensen + DavidLeeRoth:

You will be missed - but one question before you go what is the music playing behind you now?
  10:27am
stingy d:

haha, thats a nice thing to say... i read it as a fridge three times in a row though
yr a necco brand sky bar to me
  10:28am
DJ Mama:

Wow. Keili does not know this about you leaving. She will be distraught. I think we should just not tell her and I will play an archived show each Tuesday, as if it were new.
  10:30am
mummybreath:

Gillnet is for SISSIES! A true Alaskan grapples them suckers, bear-paw-style! RARGH!!!
  10:30am
C:

Poor John McCain. First Sarah stole his political spotlight, now it turns out that Todd is the better fisherman.
  10:32am
Hatch:

DJ Mama, don't let her find out! It's like learning there is no Santa Claus.
  10:34am
DJ Mama:

Seriously! When she did find that out, (just 4 painful years ago) she cried and asked if it was still OK to like Beanie Babies. What would happen if she found out about you?
  10:35am
Hatch:

She would probably ask, "Is it still still ok to like Beanie Babies?"
  10:36am
DJ Mama:

My niece Sabrina is here and she is quite upset about this news. In her French accent she said, "I don't know who is this Ken, but I don't like him!" lol.
  10:50am
Parq:

Hatch . . . what the hell do you MEAN, "learning there is no Santa Claus"??
  10:51am
Easter Bunny:

Yeah, what's the big idea?
  10:52am
Lang:

I love the Hatchtastic playlist, covering all of your bases on your last (for now) show
  10:52am
Hatch:

Oh shit, I just ruined the whole damn year for all the kindergarten listeners.
  10:53am
Tooth Fairy:

Sorry E. Bunny, it's just you and me. Santa's fictional.
  10:54am
jason:

hey, this might be a stupid question, but did you win the election?
  10:55am
Hatch:

Yes, I won. I was running unopposed. You can call me Kings County Democratic Committeeman Hatch now.
  10:57am
DJ Mama:

DJ KCDC
  11:01am
Parq:

Oh snap, Jas, I meant to ask the same thing myself weeks ago. Good catch.

I wish I could count on the electorate to see how stark-naked King McCain is. But, to mix allusions, no one ever lost an election underestimating the intelligence of the American people.

Or, as Bush would say, misunderestimating.
  11:08am
Bad Ronald:

No chance you have the "Psycho" track by Jack Kittel laying around huh? It would fit the motif.
  11:10am
Hatch:

I could find it, but... pulled too much other stuff I want to play.
  11:10am
g:

Hatch, I gotta pile on here: I'll miss your show too. Not to mention that since I am probably the last person on earth who still buys cd's, what's left of the record industry will suffer too, since you are one of the primary culprits in getting me to spend my hard-earned $$ on music . . .

and p.s.: what, exactly, does a County Democratic Committeeman do? Can we now start deriding you as a do-nothing, entrenched politician, or are you going to clean up King's County (single-handedly)? A 'maverick'?

Best of luck, and we'll catch you on fill-ins. . .
  11:11am
Bad Ronald:

K tx anyway.
  11:12am
Hatch:

I'm a maverick, and I was never voted Miss Congeniality.
  11:16am
GP:

g...you and me both...I fact I actually spent some money on vinyl the other day....Hatch, I realize that I have not been listening long enough to qualify as a regular, but in the short time since I discovered FMU, your show has helped me get through Tuesdays...good luck with your real job and your political career.
  11:19am
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  11:21am
Parq:

'Morning, Sean. Down that first cup of coffee and join the party. And I do mean Party.
  11:21am
fishmonkeystew:

Man, some people are just f-ed up. Damn.
  11:22am
Bad Ronald:

Thanks Hatch at least you have satisfied my "Psycho" jones visually!
  11:23am
Sean Daily:

You mean par-TAY! Parq. You gotta say it like a MTV host during spring break, and a "Wooooooo!" is recommended either before or after, preferably both.

I don't know WHY this is. I just report the news.
  11:23am
GP:

From the Chicago Tribune--Today:

"There's been no shortage of takeoffs on Sarah Palin lately, from television skits to action figures, but Bruce Elliott has gone one step further than most. He's taken off her clothes."

Elliott, whose wife, Tobin Mitchen, owns the Old Town Ale House on Chicago's North Side, painted a nude portrait of the Republican vice presidential nominee and hung it above the bar, where it's now a prime attraction among his display of more than 200 celebrity portraits and other racy art.

Palin became Elliott's muse after he saw her on TV.

"I've been following her religiously," he said Monday at the bar. "I had never heard of her before, like everyone else. I find her bizarrely fascinating, even though I pretty much despise everything she stands for."
  11:25am
Hatch:

If you can find that picture, I think it would fit in with the gore and destruction on today's playlist.
  11:27am
Sean Daily:

Speaking of gore and destruction, Dow's up 222 points, or 2.2%. I got a fiver says this "rally" lasts one day, tops.
  11:30am
gumby:

Gores not running for President again, is he?
  11:31am
gumby:

Sorry Ike, I think I missed an apostrophe there.
  11:32am
GP:

Where is Ross Perot and his charts when you need him...giant sucking sound...indeed.
  11:33am
elvie:

look, if they would just get the hadron collider up and running already, we wouldn't have to worry about any of this ever, ever again. i think i'll quite like getting sucked into a black hole.
  11:34am
Parq:

Sean, you misunderestimate me. I meant "Party", as in "the Party is poised to take power as soon as the assasinations are completed."
  11:37am
Sean Daily:

Parq: Ah, I see. Still, can't we make it "the par-TAY! is poised etc., etc.". I feel so... strange saying "party" like I'm not a drunk frat boy... so strange... so... VULNERABLE...

Oh, and speaking of vulnerable, gas lines are back, people! Woo hoo!

  11:38am
Bad Ronald:

Someone said PARTY - Woooooooooo!! (rips off tube top)
  11:40am
GP:

In keeping with the par-TAY theme: S T A G E D I V E
  11:41am
GP:

OUCH!
  11:41am
Swami:

Gotta go Hatch. Thank you from the darkest corners of my heart. Hear you soon I hope!
  11:42am
Bad Ronald:

Gimme back my roofies!
  11:42am
Maggi:

Rob, so sad. Who will I secretly stalk on the radio Tuesday mornings now? Come over for dinner soon, ok?
  11:43am
Parq:

Ron, thanks for a visual image that is going to plague me the rest of the day.
  11:43am
Sean Daily:

KEG STAND! WOOOOOOOOO oh God I'm gonna hurl... hold my hair man...

Oh, can we sacrifice some CEOs for the failed crops, er, economy, Wicker Man style?
  11:56am

Well, sugarwolf, I figure the fat in all those well-fed asses oughta be worth a couple million BTUs at least...

Hey presto! Alternative energy! Energy independence! Awright...
  11:56am
efd:

hey Hatch, here's a collection of McCain's "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" comments from the past year or so:

I'll miss you on Tuesday mornings, but looking forward to election day!
  11:58am
larry:

Is it necessary for you to include your political propaganda in the show? The lesser of two evils is Obama but hardly an inspiring figure....please...give it a rest!
  11:59am
Hatch:

Shut it, Larry.
  12:00pm
larry:

you're brainwashed!
