Listener comments!

  2:58pm
Laurie:

Have you seen a lot of ironic facial hair? Beards? Mustaches?
  2:59pm
lupica:

Oh, Laurie... You wouldn't believe it if I told you. Devendra! Devendra! Devendra!
  3:05pm
William Swan:

The third to last (most recent) book by William Gibson was also titled All Tomorrow's Parties. It was a good one. Then came Pattern Recognition and most recently Spook Country.
  3:05pm
Chet:

This is awesome. I hope there's at least one person with a Robert Downey Jr/Tony Stark/Iron Man facial hair.
  3:07pm
Liz B.:

Lots of bad tattoos here, as well. The people-watching is amazing! That whole unshowered look really doesn't work so well in crowds, though.
  3:09pm
Laurie:

I hope you guys interview people with handlebar mustaches.
  3:12pm
Laurie:

I wouldn't worry about how the unshowered folks look if I were in close proximity to them. Hope you guys brought gas masks! Or Peter Sarsgaard SARS guards. Or those cute little SARS masks that look like monkeys or kittens or some other sort of animal.
  3:14pm
Art Wrecko:

Wow, Growing sounds nice. Any mushrooms "growing" up there?
  3:15pm
Chris:

have you spotted the token hipster with an afro, yet?
  3:17pm
Liz B.:

Most definitely, Chris, that hipster with the afro was blocking my view of Thurston Moore's set last night.
  3:21pm
Laurie:

I once saw Thurston Moore live at the Apple Store in SoHo. I didn't even show up that early. Like, maybe 40 minutes? And I was seventh in line and sat front row and center. Thurston makes funny faces! I like it.

Also, if I were high, I would be totally freaking out listening to this.
  3:36pm
Lupica:

Seriously, EVERYONE should plan next summer's vacation activities at Kutscher's. As it has been noted by my esteemed colleagues Liz Berg and Marty McSorley, this place is like a hybrid of The Shining, Cocoon, and, I would add: Dirty Dancing.
  3:36pm
Chris:

I'm Really loving this Growing set.
  3:39pm
Jo The Gardener:

Greetings from Frankfurt/Germany

Nice show, nice sound
  3:40pm
?:

The pool that the cocoons were in in the movie Cocoon is located in NJ
Pleasantdale Chateau 757 Eagle Rock Avenue West Orange, NJ
  3:44pm
Perry:

Eric Sermon's solo albums are incredible
  3:46pm
james edward uk:

this is awesome , so good that your broadcasting this!!!

any chance of some pics of the settings??? that would be cool
  3:47pm
Chris:

I Read something last night about windy & carl saying one of the hotels having bed bugs.
  3:58pm
A-P:

Finland is listening too!! Damn this is so cool to hear good festival live!! Try to find some guy with a big curley hair!!
  4:01pm
Vicki:

evening - I hear a Birmingham accent
  4:03pm
Vicki:

Birmingham UK that is
  4:04pm
frenchee:

yes, and it's lurvely
  4:07pm
chris mantis waters:

greece is here also!!!!greetings and thanx!
  4:12pm
Vicki:

is that Mike Lupica in the background in that photo?
  4:14pm
lupica:

yep, hi vicki!
  4:15pm
Vicki:

nice shirt, you look like you want to be in the forefront
  4:15pm
Nick:

I really wish you guys weren't going to cut away from Low.... Anyhow: This is fantastic, thanks for streaming! I wish I were there...
  4:16pm
frenchee:

No one puts Mikey in the corner!
  4:20pm
Laurie:

I want to hear Low, and I want to hear Polvo... you know how it is with these two or three stage festivals. You have to make heartbreaking decisions! :(
  4:21pm
Vicki:

glad I'm listening on my sofa
  4:23pm
Lupica:

In spite of what Patrick Swayze says, the corner is a good place for me to be.
  4:24pm
Vicki:

what does that say on your Chelsea football team-coloured shirt?
  4:25pm
Laurie:

Italia?
  4:25pm
james edward uk:

it sounds just like the atp uk in may, we had a mass ant infestation in our room

what about mogwai ??? that would be a treat!!
  4:29pm
Vicki:

I think it says ATM
  4:30pm
lupica:

It says: "nettle tea".
  4:31pm
Vicki:

you mean neddle tea
  4:31pm
Laurie:

No, it says neti pot. Quit your lying!
  4:37pm
Therese:

Laurie makes a good point- I hope you brought your neti pot with you. Who knows what kind of particulates the hipsters are kicking up into the air from those decades-old carpets.
  4:38pm
Chet:

i hope Polvo doesn't play "Fast Canoe" until WFMU cuts away from Low, I hope Low plays "Immune"
before WFMU cuts away to Polvo.
  4:40pm
lupica:

I am totally going to be needing a date with the Neti Pot when this all over with.
  4:45pm
Vicki:

what's a neti pot?
  4:47pm
Lupica:

Neti Pots:

http://tinyurl.com/3lhzwm

You've been warned.
  4:48pm
Laurie:

It looks like a genie bottle. You will it with water, stick it up one nostril and then you let the water wash out your insides or whatever and drip out the other nostril. And then you do the same on the other nostril, and repeat as needed.

Yes.
  4:49pm
Laurie:

I played truth and dare once with some friends. I dared this one dude to use the neti pot on both nostrils, catch everything that drains out his nose into a bowl, and drink it.

He did it.

I'm gross.
  4:51pm
Laurie:

Oh, and the always adorable Amy Sedaris brought a neti pot to her latest appearance on Conan O'Brien. They both used the neti pot.

That's enough neti pot discussion, y/y?
  4:51pm
Vicki:

oh, I was imagining it's something you poo in.
  4:54pm
Keili:

awww, liz, short or tall, we all love you!
hahaha, nice job guys,
  4:55pm
All Tomorrow's Parties HQ:

  4:55pm
Keili:

  4:56pm
Kyle:

Lets see a picture of the chandelier!!
  5:01pm
Laurie:

Beer and shower?? Was this the guy who called into the Best Show this past Tuesday? I didn't realize this was a thing. Beer and shower.
  5:16pm
Keili:

Black Flag ref, yo~!
I love them.
  5:46pm
Dylan:

What was that porn music interlude Harmonia just did?
  5:47pm
BZ:

Neu! Neu! NEU!!
  5:47pm
K.:

I think it was FMU dropping the connection momentarily. Harmonia ++
  5:49pm
Chris:

dangit, fmu. stop screwing with the stream.
  5:50pm
K.:

Yeah, bad time to poop out on us.
  5:50pm
lupica:

Stream help is coming, hang tight.
  5:51pm
K.:

Clapping at my laptop here in the aether...
  6:00pm
K.:

WTF.. Shaft???? Is that you, bro?
  6:00pm
Chris (again):

awww....damn you, beastie boys!
  6:05pm
Dylan:

Trippy pitch shifting!
  6:09pm
Sarah:

What's this? WHat am I listening to?
  6:12pm
Liz B.:

This is Harmonia
  6:13pm
Sarah:

Ah...I stopped listening when the strange interludey (bad stream mistake) came on...I wasn't sure if we'd gone back live yet
  6:13pm
K.:

Honeyed butterflies flutter by my eyes.
  6:13pm
Mike Zippo:

Hey let's get OM onstage!!!
  6:19pm
Sarah:

Anyone know who's next up?
  6:20pm
All Tomorrow's Parties HQ:

Next up is OM, in theory at 6:45.
  6:20pm

  7:05pm

  7:07pm
~L:

Does anyone know tomorrow's schedule at ATP? When does My Bloody play? Before or after Yo La Tengo? Thanks, I'm trying to plan my day.
  7:21pm
M:

will any of these sets be archived?
  7:22pm
d:

maybe... depends if they let us.
  7:26pm
Nick:

@ ~L: If you're at ATP, stage 1 goes: Yo La Tengo -> Mogwai -> Dinosaur Jr. -> My Bloody Valentine.

However, WFMU will not be streaming MBV, presumably because Kevin Shields would not permit them to?
  7:28pm
M:

i have to say, this om set is pretty impressive
  7:30pm
Chris:

Shit yeah, it is!
  7:31pm
~L:

Thanks for your help, Nick!
  7:31pm
plinky:

technology is amazing
  7:38pm
jeff:

  7:41pm
sherri:

  7:48pm
Mike Zippo:

Was anyone able to capture that OM set? I downloaded some streaming audio recroding software and it didn't work-will this be rebroadcast at all?
  7:48pm
Eddie:

When will the Lilys set be streamed tomorrow?
  7:52pm
chet:

I hope Polvo doesn't open with Fast Canoe, i hope they end with it
  7:53pm
Eddie:

Word, just found out on the WFMU blog..can't wait until 3:30 tomorrow!
  7:54pm
Chet:

Oh man, i'm gonna sh*t if i miss "feathers of forgiveness"
  7:56pm
chet:

Found a Polvo set list from 4 months ago Thermal Treasure

Every Holy Shroud (with a bit of Sure Shot at the end)

Feathers of Forgiveness

Fractured (Like Chandeliers)

Bridesmaid Blues

Fast Canoe

Title Track

New Track that Rocked in a very 70s way

Stinger (Five Wigs) [a lot of it, anyway]

Downtown Dedication

Bombs That Fall From Your Eyes

Lazy Comet

Tragic Carpet Ride

I think I heard a bit of Solitary Set in there somewhere as well.
  7:57pm
chet:

I found another one, it looks like they've been opening with feathers of forgiveness or playing in the first half of the set
  7:58pm
Chris:

mike zippo:
http://radicalriffage.blogspot.com
  8:08pm
chet:

oh "F" low, they're such a downer. Let's cut into Polvo.
  8:09pm
Iain:

Yes!!!! Low!!!! Who are Polvo? ;)
  8:10pm
james edward uk:

its not about leaving a low set before the end,

i saw them last weekend at end of the road festival uk and the guitarist
smashed his guitar and then hurled it into the crowd

lucky no one got hurt!!!!
  8:12pm
chet:

i like a few songs, but man, they really put the slow in slowcore
  8:12pm
M:

at least low have been keeping at it all these years... polvo is good, but just another band that has conveniently "reunited"
  8:15pm
chet:

all the more reason i want to hear Polvo. Low is always gonna be there.
  8:17pm
Iain:

I think they're reading your posts, Chet - this is their "best of slow" set. :) Contary-core!
  8:18pm
chet:

haha, if they don't play "Immune" i'm gonna slap my neighbor.
  8:19pm
Sarah:

I haven't missed silver mount zion right? Are they being broadcast? Have they given permission?
  8:21pm
Iain:

Good choice Sir - "Immune" was the first Low record I ever heard. Not a set list regular from what I remember.
  8:25pm
chet:

this song is awesome. little more upbeat for low.
  8:25pm
Laurie:

I would like to hear "Sunflower," personally.
  8:26pm
M:

"Dinosaur Act"
  8:26pm
Laurie:

And I concur, this is a really good song.

Kudos to the engineers, by the way. They sound great.
  8:27pm
chet:

Yo, Marty. Liz. Scream, "Play Immune motherfuckers!!!" I swear, it works every time.
  8:27pm
doron:

silver mt. zion is at 9:45 est. polvo is before them.
  8:28pm
Iain:

Haha! Job done Chet!
  8:28pm
Laurie:

Awwww.

I mean, I love Polvo, too, but... awww.
  8:29pm
ceptor:

More Low. please.
  8:32pm
Iain:

Your fault Laurie! I think this is the band's punishment for the first person to ask for Sunflower ;)
  8:36pm
chet:

I'd like to hear polvo play "Dinosaur Act" by Low.
  8:38pm
Mike Zippo:

Chris thanks so much!!!
  8:40pm
Iain:

Very good :) There just isn't enough room in a Polvo song for enough audience "ssshhh" ing.
  8:45pm
Laurie:

Okay, so this tee shirt I used to wear in high school. I bought it at vintage store called Miami Twice. I just found it online.

http://tinyurl.com/44g7xz

I bought it because I liked the band Polvo, but I don't know if it's related to the band. Is there a band called Polvo de la Escoba? I've never been able to track it down if there is.
  9:01pm
Iain:

If they were ever a band, it looks like they were pre-Google, Laurie. Good name, nice shirt. :)

Just read that polvo are from Chapel Hill, and dredging my brain for another CH band that John Peel played in the nineties...searching through C90's, I may be some time :)
  9:02pm
Eddie:

Superchunk!
  9:05pm
chet:

I haven't heard this song live since 95 in Amherst, MA
  9:05pm
Iain:

Cheers Eddie - less famous than Mac...
  9:06pm
chet:

jesus, sounds like they haven't played it since 95
  9:12pm
skippy:

real insightful there, chet...
  9:15pm
skippy:

archers of loaf, iain?
  9:16pm
chet:

Small 23 was from Chapel Hill (although a member or 2 were from Nutley, NJ) I actually picked up a Small 23 cd in the UK. Maybe they had some success there.
  9:17pm
book:

just found out low are mormon. who knew?!

glad we tuned into polvo, nice set
  9:18pm
M:

Chet, that show you saw Polvo in Amherst, MA in '95, wasn't at the Blue Wall at UMass with Helium, was it?
  9:22pm
Iain:

Thanks guys.

Not AoL - I've definitely got some Small 23 somewhere (blast from the past!), but I dont think it was them. I'm still looking!
  9:24pm
Chet:

Actually, it was in North Hampton at a bar/music venue. I want to call it The Spoke. I don't remember Helium. It was probably the Exploded Drawing tour, which was recorded in Oct 95. I may have seen them Febuary 96 or November 95. They opened with Fast Canoe. There was a kid there with a striped skull cap, yell, brown, blue. That's all i can remember. It wasn't the Blue Wall, although that would have been cool
  9:34pm
james edward uk:

how about a photos of the food court????
  9:38pm
CJ:

Amazing! I thought we weren't going to hear Shellac tonight.
  9:52pm
Swami:

  10:04pm

SWAMI:

  10:33pm
Laurie:

I think it's actually the Leaves of Grass. I hear they just got signed to a vanity label.
  10:46pm
Swami:

That would make ironic sense, being that Walt Whitman. . .blah blah blah. (Fill in pretentious English Major factoid about . . . )God I am sooo tired and this music is so damn good..
  10:46pm
HotRod:

mmmMt. Zion!!! Wow!
  10:52pm

  11:44pm

  11:44pm

  12:03am
Laurie:

  12:07am
Ike:

Hi Therese! Nice set.

Wow, that Harmonia set earlier today exploded my mind with deep space sounds. It sounded good walking downhill after a hike. Unfortunately I missed a lot of the other sets. Heard some of Low. I love Low. Low > Polvo forever.
  12:13am

Listening to the FM signal and Lightning Bolt just started.
  12:47am
HotRod:

Is there a problem with the broadcast at the moment or is it the bose earbuds that I accidently washed in my laundry yesterday? Sound is going in and out.
  12:49am
Chris:

Same here, hotrod.
hope it isn't like this through their whole set.
  1:01am
D. Blumin:

Still going in and out, guys?
  1:03am
Chris:

  1:05am
D. Blumin:

Dainis, http://post-rock.lv:

It was interesting to listen one of my favorite bands ever - ASMZ here at ATP via web connection as the band will perform firstly in Riga, Latvia on October 8th. :)
  6:54pm
Docrtor B.:

Good on you guys for simulcasting this event! I didn't have it together to go to this function, so I appreciate the streaming!

Unfortunately, much as I'd like to listen some more, I have to go and do other things which don''t involve a PC. By any chance will you be archiving these shows for listening at a later date, or is that a no-go because of "rights" issues?
