Tue. 9/16/08 12:06pm Tony Coulter:

Hello all....

Today's first set is a track-for-track recreation of the live set I did in between the bands' sets at Issue Project Room this past Saturday -- what can I say, I believe in recycling. Don't forget, 4 more IPR/WFMU shows remain.

Tue. 9/16/08 12:08pm Bad Ronald:

Cool, thanks Tony!

Tue. 9/16/08 12:11pm Jason:

Great show on Saturday at IPR, and I'm very happy to hear this DJ set again!

Tue. 9/16/08 12:13pm miss buxley:

hiya tony,,,i'm DYING to hear some SABRINA 2day,,lots of love =)=)=)

Tue. 9/16/08 12:17pm north guinea hills:

woooowwwww, i love tazartes...., first time i've heard him outside of bryce

Tue. 9/16/08 12:21pm Ike:

Great set. I missed it on Saturday so I'm glad to hear it. There were about six different awesome things happening at once on Saturday, and my body-duplicating machine was broken, so I couldn't split off copies of myself to go to every event and then download all the memories into my original brain.

Tue. 9/16/08 12:48pm jon:

as interesting as it is to mix in vocal chants into the mix, it's starting to hurt my head.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:02pm stingy d:

carry me!

Tue. 9/16/08 1:09pm taylor:

went to the Issue on saturday at 10:30 to only find clothes doors. I was sad but ended up finding a party with free wine in the same building. oh well!

Tue. 9/16/08 1:09pm taylor:

closed doors rather. clothes doors would be nice though

Tue. 9/16/08 1:14pm stingy d:

what was the info on the john natchez record?

Tue. 9/16/08 1:17pm Kevin from BayRidge:

Taylor,
"Clothes Doors"... Sounds very anti-Freudian to me!

Tue. 9/16/08 1:18pm Taylor:

Tony...I was going to try and find you at the issue to ask you. Do you have any recomended record stores in new york/brooklyn. Just moved here and am excited to find some strange/rare music. Other music is only store I know about...

Tue. 9/16/08 1:18pm tony williams:

Which track was that Stereolab meets Billy Cobham thingy???

Tue. 9/16/08 1:19pm ?:

RE: Kevin from baybridge

Yes, very Freudian. I was expecting music in the nude but only found clothed wine drinkers.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:20pm Sean Daily:

So Irene Denner's mommy is a mummy, now?

Tue. 9/16/08 1:21pm stingy d:

taylor try academy (n. 7th frillydumbsburgh) for a clean and pricey experience and the thing (manhattan ave greenpoint) for a cheap and dirty one.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:22pm stingy d:

tony w.- i am pretty sure that was the john nacthez

Tue. 9/16/08 1:23pm taylor:

this song mom space song is ridiculous. song poems always keep me surprised. Another question Tony....was there certain types of music you wanted to find in Portland and also did you unexpectedly discover large amounts of certain musics?

Tue. 9/16/08 1:24pm taylor:

thanks stingy d! i love everything from the clean to the dirty. how is the cake shop?

Tue. 9/16/08 1:25pm Tony Coulter:

Hello all -- will answer your questions in a bit!

Tue. 9/16/08 1:26pm Taylor:

Thanks...very interested to hear about record collecting in general. Still a new practice to me as of a year and a half ago.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:28pm annie:

i'm looking for someone to take my entire vinyl collection and keep it, only giving me back cds of all of it

Tue. 9/16/08 1:28pm stingy d:

get a protable turntable before you go to the thing

otherwise you'll dig and dig for hours and feel like you have to pee too much.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:31pm stingy d:

i judge records by their covers a lot. also i like years, and record labels. just read about htem, if they pique your interest, you might like them.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:32pm Tony Coulter:

Yep, Drumbo was John Natchez. From the album "Listen" on Atropos, from 1977. Very hard to find, unfortunately...

Tue. 9/16/08 1:32pm Taylor:

Well...I have a turntable and have been collecting seriously since a year and a half ago...I acquired a few hundred records from family (most discovered from an uncle who passed away 14 years ago) but I've quickly been obsessed buying hundred more back in Maine, checking all the record stores I could. Now in Brooklyn I'm looking forward to finding the goods here! I'm also constantly amazed by the music that Tony and also brian turner plays on these shows. Thanks again!

Tue. 9/16/08 1:35pm annie:

a great place to locate used vinyl is ithaca

Tue. 9/16/08 1:39pm stingy d:

i gotta go to ithaca.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:39pm annie...:

pick me up on your way there, eh?

Tue. 9/16/08 1:41pm stingy d:

only if you have a sandwhich for me.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:42pm annie:

h. all right!!!! deal! you bring the beer

Tue. 9/16/08 1:45pm Stoned Mellotron:

i havn't had many drunk record buying experiences. it seems dangerous but could be fun the next morning finding the results

Tue. 9/16/08 1:47pm Stoned Mellotron:

Richard Wright! :( RIP!

Tue. 9/16/08 1:49pm ross:

haven't heard this in years...

Tue. 9/16/08 1:52pm annie:

i am never hardly ever disappointed by what i hear on this amazing station.. thanks tony; my you tube list gets bigger each week.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:54pm Bad Ronald:

Crimson's "Ladies of the Road" would fit in nicely with this set.

Tue. 9/16/08 1:57pm Stoned Mellotron:

this floyd song is so amazing! is this wright singing?

Tue. 9/16/08 1:58pm Tony Coulter:

Yep - Wright is singing. He wrote it too....

Tue. 9/16/08 2:00pm Stoned Mellotron:

that's nice....I actually just watched the Pompeii dvd the day before he died and thought about how I want to read a bio about them

Tue. 9/16/08 2:01pm Negator:

gOODBYE, Mr. Wright. I always loved his work. Pink Floyd's early sound was always close to my heart. They introduced me to my furture.....

Tue. 9/16/08 2:05pm Bad Ronald:

did you mean future or furniture?

Tue. 9/16/08 2:15pm Negator:

FUTURE.... He had nothing to do with my future as a shitty typist. Tony C.!

Tue. 9/16/08 2:26pm Parq:

Hmm. Kind of a shame. I think I liked "always introduced me to my furniture" better. Conveys a picture of being lulled into contemplative reclining.

Tue. 9/16/08 2:27pm Bad Ronald:

Eggs Ackley!!!

Tue. 9/16/08 2:40pm Parq:

Of course, back in the days of Dark Side, I also knew many a listener who was introduced to his furniture by a large number of beers and/or doobs.

Tue. 9/16/08 2:44pm Bad Ronald:

My furniture and I are still very tight.

Tue. 9/16/08 2:50pm Stoned Mellotron:

sorry to be the new new yorker, but does anyone have recommendations for good video rental stores in park slope/prospect heights?

Tue. 9/16/08 2:50pm Matt:

But were you introduced to each other by Pink Floyd?

Tue. 9/16/08 2:51pm Bad Ronald:

Yes Floyd was somewhat involved...

Tue. 9/16/08 2:52pm xangoir:

death to videodrome. someone painted fools day on a dead end sign

Wed. 9/17/08 12:32pm Tony Coulter:

Hello all,

Here's a (much) delayed response to Taylor's question about good record stores in NYC. Stingy D has Brooklyn covered -- the Williamsburg Academy is the best store for vinyl in the city. Other good stores in Manhattan beside Other Music include Downtown Music Gallery, St. Mark's Kim's, Rocket Scientist, and the Academy on 12th St. (the one on 18th is good also, but is mostly CDs). Also worth a visit: Gimme Gimme, Bleecker Bob's, and a few others in lower Manhattan.

And don't forget FMU's annual record fair, taking place this year on October 24th, 25th, and 26th.

Fri. 10/10/08 1:12am Michael:

Yeah! Dave Dubowski!

Fri. 10/10/08 8:09am David Dubowski:

Thanks for playing one of my songs! Next time play "Rich And Famous," or "Painting The Town" from the same album? Those were written by Michael ^
