Tue. 9/9/08 9:08am From: Parq

Hmm. If a contrary view might be permitted, I for one have been looking forward all week to hearing Hatch tear Vice President Barbie a new one.

Tue. 9/9/08 9:08am From: Hatch

Good mornin' little Peep.

Tue. 9/9/08 9:09am From: Hatch

Mr. or Mrs. Good Dem, don't worry. I am so over Sarah Palin, she's out with yesterday's garbage.

Tue. 9/9/08 9:11am From: Hatch

Parq, I consider that an insult to Barbie.

Why does green mean that's the color green? Why can't you say another word for green being green? Know what I'm saying?

Tue. 9/9/08 9:29am From: Hatch

Not really, no.

Tue. 9/9/08 9:30am From: stephon

f your mind can transform thoughts to create rockets to go into space, who is to say if an Ark was built? Like, if you could build spaceships to go from off this ground, to go up into the sky, and go land on the moon — you're saying, these things can't happen? So everything gets challenged, you understand what I'm saying?

Tue. 9/9/08 9:30am From: bones

Hey from australia. Love Jubilee. You guys could have your own Thatcher in Palin (!)

Tue. 9/9/08 9:31am From: The Good Doctor

Thanks for the Suzi

It's not easy being green.

Tue. 9/9/08 9:33am From: Hatch

Sounds like Stephon may be indulging in something green, sweet, and sticky.

Morning to Hatch and everyone

Mmmmm Sticky Icky!!!

Tue. 9/9/08 9:35am From: stephon

If I didn’t play the way how I played, I wouldn’t have gotten no max contract. They can talk about whatever they wanna talk about me, because I got maxed. I’m a max player. Don’t get mad at me, because I’m telling you what’s real. One plus one is two, all day long, and it’s never gonna change. And that’s factorial!

Tue. 9/9/08 9:36am From: gumby

Good mornin' everyone! Thanks to whoever said they were reading Mondo Exotica. Mrs. Gumby gave it to me for my birthday, looks good.

Tue. 9/9/08 9:41am From: Dickdong (UK)

<You guys could have your own Thatcher in Palin (!) >
G'day bones. I don't think the British would have elected Thatcher if they thought she was a raving lunatic.
Only in the USA? ..... Let's see.

Tue. 9/9/08 9:42am From: Hatch

Sarah Palin is no Margaret Thatcher. Yes, they both have vaginas (I think).

Tue. 9/9/08 9:45am From: Bad Ronald

Boobs too?

It would be cool if Palin started speaking in tongues during interviews...

Tue. 9/9/08 9:47am From: bones

they're totally different, but social decline is on the dinner plate

Tue. 9/9/08 9:48am From: Oi Mr

palin's upper lip bothers me - it's the wrong way round for a flautist.

Tue. 9/9/08 9:59am From: Manc Lion

Can't believe "Control" nearly made you hate Joy Division. I thought it was a capably done documentary. Anton Corbijn is the director you're talking about. He directed the video for Joy Division's "Atmosphere". As to the Doors comment, Ian always sounded a bit like Jim Morrison, it was as much a part of his influence as glam and Velvet Underground.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:00am From: Parq

Palin as Thatcher -- cancha just see it? "The Iron Bratz Doll." (H told me to lay off Barbie.)

Tue. 9/9/08 10:03am From: stingy d

i hated "control" but to take a positive view, i did think it was the best biopic ive ever seen. that is of course saying next to nothing.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:05am From: lets go fishing!

i cant wait!!!

Tue. 9/9/08 10:05am From: Manc Lion

Yeah, it's more of a biopic or docudrama than a proper documentary.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:07am From: stingy d

did you hear about the dion warwick biopic?

samuel l jackson is playing the lead.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:08am From: Pamela

Hatch-real fishing question. Do you think it's better for the fish to use a lure with a single hook or one with the three hooks? I just was fishing for a week in Maine and just started wondering about that - I always thought three was bad since it's more hooks and harder to get out, but maybe it's better because it reduces the pressure? I started feeling bad for the fish I was catching...

Tue. 9/9/08 10:09am From: Bad Ronald

"Get on your knees"?

Tue. 9/9/08 10:09am From: GP

Man, I need to get out more ( or on Netflix more) the last biopic I saw was that one about Mettalica..I think it was called "Some Kind of Monster" or something like that.

funny Stingy D, funny

Tue. 9/9/08 10:10am From: Hatch

Pamela, here's my wise advice:

If you feel bad for the fish, don't go fishing.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:11am From: Hatch

The Metallica documentary (not a biopic) is a work of genius.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:13am From: freddie

but the cinematography in Control was so beautiful! anyone who can make a good black and white is alright in my book. Corbijn did a lot of popular 80s and 90s music videos- "Heart Shaped Box," along with a bunch of Echo and the Bunnymen and Depeche Mode.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:13am From: Concerned Citizen

Pamela, three hooks is called a treble hook and is banned in many areas. Rangers on the Delaware River will pull you over under the premise that they are seeing if you are fishing with treble hooks, then diverge into other forms of entrapment and you wind up with a $300 fine for possesion of controlled substances and gots no smokables for your river float. Bastards!!!

Tue. 9/9/08 10:14am From: GP

Hatch, my favorite scene is when they offered their new bass player one million dollars as a "base" salary"...he looked like he just won the lottery..which in a way he did.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:19am From: stingy d

biopics lack integrity, straight off

Tue. 9/9/08 10:20am From: Pamela

Hatch, I don't feel THAT bad. And poor Concerned Citizen... damn that sucks. But that gives me info - if they are banned, there's gotta be a reason.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:21am From: Parks and Wildlife Dept

I smell burning rope from somewhere.
Attention Concerned Citizen, what is that you are smoking there, didn't we warn you the last time!

Tue. 9/9/08 10:23am From: ?

is it possible to turn down the music bed a tiny bit so we can hear what john is saying? thanks!

Tue. 9/9/08 10:23am From: gumby

The other day they had a documentary on American Masters about Audobon. Turns out he killed thousands of birds and then stuffed and posed them to paint all those life like scenes. It also turns out I guess he was kind of kooky and a failed bussinessman.

Dang...I thought he (Audobon) just was a fast painter.!

Tue. 9/9/08 10:28am From: Concerned Citizen

Thats what they did, scoped us with the binocs enjoying mother herb, pulled us over on some false pretense of illegal fishing gear then paid for the gas, salaries and equipment for the day, while making a spectacle of us along the river bank for no reason other than to justify their salaries. Damn narcs!!!

Tue. 9/9/08 10:29am From: north guinea hills

the only tracks i've ever come across from the groop was from the "midnight cowboy" soundtrack. curious, i would love to find an album of theirs (on vinyl)

i am increasingly distubred by the idea that obama is gonna lose. am i off base? i just dont see it. did anyone hear about the voter wipe outs in a lot of swing states?

Tue. 9/9/08 10:37am From: GP

Ah yes the Lage Hadron Collider...man that name is ripe for so many fruedian typos....Once they turn it on they really don't know what will happen.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:38am From: GP

Should have been "LARGE" Hadron

typos started already

Tue. 9/9/08 10:39am From: bones

yeah may as well gumby. u don't wanna get sucked into a black hole w/ your coworkers

Tue. 9/9/08 10:40am From: Parq

Gum, maybe not, but you should definitely hold off paying that guy down the other end of the cubicle farm the five dollars you owe him.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:41am From: Dickdong

<they're blowing up the world>
We are to be imploded not exploded. It means we'll all be a lot closer together, so don't scream - whisper.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:41am From: Parq

And GP, that's not the typo that everyone's worried about.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:41am From: Hatch

Don't worry, Stingy. McCain's caught up or slightly passed on the national polls, but it's a temporary post-convention bounce. And all the new state polls still show tight races in lots of states that Bush won easily in 2004. Obama definitely has the upper hand.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:42am From: gumby

It's tuned, you can play something now.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:43am From: GP

Tue. 9/9/08 10:44am From: dc pat

I still think the crazy lady factor with Palin will explode soon. Have you all seen the list of books she tried to ban while Mayor?? She also use to be a snake-handler.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:46am From: Hatch

Pat, the book list is fake. But yeah, she is inevitably going to crash and burn eventually.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:46am From: gumby

Just trying to lighten it up. If the world's gonna end and I'm gonna get slammed into my cubemates, I think I'll ask if I can move next to the pretty little thing over there.

Tue. 9/9/08 10:46am From: dc pat

How do you know it's fake? I thought it looked too good to be true.

You've got to feel a little sorry for them, old feeling scared men making ponds and refuges to raise and kill animals in a striving to feel man-like...Hey wait a minute, how different is that than our country? Those crusty old bastards!! If only we could stop the poor folks from worshipping rich people and living for the day that they too can drive a BMW and drive like a humanity hating republican, figurative and literally

Tue. 9/9/08 11:05am From: Matt

Hey Hatch, great show.
What's that intro/outro song you always play?
Thanks!

Tue. 9/9/08 11:05am From: GP

Count Chocula...closet thing to zombie cereal that I can think of, cause them zombs is goin to want to eat once the time-space continuem gets all warped up and sh*t over there in Switzerland.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:07am From: stingy d

Tue. 9/9/08 11:08am From: longbump

scariest movie ever? SECONDS

Tue. 9/9/08 11:09am From: dc pat

I like the old scary movies. You know, the ones that aren't scary at all?

Tue. 9/9/08 11:10am From: Lang

Hey Hatchling
Last night we watched the Otto Preminger film BUNNY LAKE IS MISSING, which was not horror but very creepy and for no discernable reason had the Zombies featured in it- have you seen it?

Tue. 9/9/08 11:11am From: Parq

Following up on Pat's comment, "The Bride of Frankenstein" is one of the most wonderfully bizare movies I've ever seen - a true black comedy (no offense to Chris Rush).

Tue. 9/9/08 11:11am From: Hatch

Yes, I looooooooove that movie.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:11am From: gumby

I don't know about the best movie, but the best movie review ever was, "ISHTAR ISHTERRIBLE"

Tue. 9/9/08 11:12am From: Bad Ronald

I think Frankenberry is more zombie-like than the count.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:13am From: clem

not too obscure, but good... "Deathdream"

Tue. 9/9/08 11:13am From: stingy d

Tue. 9/9/08 11:14am From: clem

Deranged

Tue. 9/9/08 11:15am From: Hatch

Deathdream I've seen. Not my favorite, not by a long shot.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:15am From: GP

Bad Ronald, I stand corrected. Also a more flavorful choice too! Totally forgot about F-Berry.

My brother in law said "The Ring" was the scariest movie he ever saw ( have not seen it yet , I know..I know).

Quake/Quisp say that 5 times FAST!

Tue. 9/9/08 11:16am From: Bad Ronald

Quisp!!

Tue. 9/9/08 11:18am From: gumby

Tue. 9/9/08 11:19am From: Hatch

Deranged looks pretty sweet! Doesn't seem to be available from Netflix unfortunately...

Tue. 9/9/08 11:22am From: dc pat

not obscure but I always end up watching The Blob. Saw it when I was a kid and it scared the shite out of me.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:23am From: clem

Deranged is good - it's (just like many others) based on Ed Gein, but seems to stick to 'Ed in real life' closer than most. Real creepy.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:24am From: GP

I like Rob Zombies stuff...but maybe it it just because he has a hot wife.

dc pat..Blob is a good one, The one movie that freaked me out when I was a kid was The Andromeda Strain, more Sci-Fi than horror

Tue. 9/9/08 11:24am From: gumby

Horror of Party Beach is a good one. After seeing the Blob I wouldn't walk by a ventilation grate without checking it out.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:28am From: gumby

Tue. 9/9/08 11:40am From: Patrick

pamela, i like it just fine, i do however miss the things that only NYC/NJ has to offer, like contemporary art, Chinese food, real pizza, cultural diversity, smoking in bars.... maybe not that last one. can you still smoke in a bar in NJ?

Tue. 9/9/08 11:41am From: clem

Oh... what about "Don't be afraid of the dark".
It's hard to find.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:43am From: Hatch

Cemetery Man and Basket Case are definitely the kinda horror films I'm into. The ultra-campy 50s and 60s stuff, not so much.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:44am From: kwhitehead

"ravenous" is a great creepy movie. It straddles the line between camp and art nicely.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:45am From: gumby

For $30 or $40 you can get 50 Sci-Fi Classics (or something like that) from your favorite on-line shop emporium and it has some wonderfully awful movies from the 30's to the 70's. This one is so cheap they put four people in a room and this folding lawn chair drives them nuts. It has a Gamara one, an Amazon Women one and about 6 Hercules ones. Me and Junior Gumby #2 will often enjoy a Friday evening of 70 minutes of wasted celluloid. Basket Case!!!!! I dig that movie.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:45am From: fishmonkeystew

Here's another vote for the Reflecting Skin, though it's more of a psychological mind bender than a horror. Very twisted.

Tue. 9/9/08 11:45am From: Sean Daily

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!

Tue. 9/9/08 11:48am From: gumby
