Fri. 8/29/08 9:11am From: gumby

Obama had quite the rousing acceptance speech last night. A big agenda, but I am ready for change.

Fri. 8/29/08 9:17am From: Sean

Agreed. Gumby. It's time.

...this scratchy ole' blues is just what I needed this morning. Great stuff.

Fri. 8/29/08 9:17am From: El Thatchmo...

....gets to listen live for a few as he prepares for the birthday celebration of the manchild!

Fri. 8/29/08 9:19am From: El Thatchmo...

My Momma? More like JoeBama!

Fri. 8/29/08 9:21am From: Swami

Obama? They found him? Tora Bora?

Fri. 8/29/08 9:30am From: ?

NJ Rulz!

Fri. 8/29/08 9:31am From: graham

damn that mosquito!

Fri. 8/29/08 9:31am From: gumby

Nj rulz what?

Fri. 8/29/08 9:36am From: gumby

I see more Obama t-shirts these days than Led Zeppelin ones, he must be popular.

Fri. 8/29/08 9:43am From: Sean

Obama put the "Ungh" in the Mambo.

Fri. 8/29/08 10:12am From: dc pat

finally got my Ex cd from Netherlands yesterday--the book is so thick, I can't fit it back in the case.

Fri. 8/29/08 10:15am From: Listener Dave from NH

I heard Red Sovine's name mentioned and I was totally ready for a trucker monologue. (Not that there's anything wrong with this!)

Fri. 8/29/08 10:26am From: Carmichael

I'm still hoping for Dick Curless' "Chick Inspector". Maybe a set of 18-wheeler tunes? Seems perverse enough to be fun.

Fri. 8/29/08 10:28am From: Hugo

That's a terrific title, that J&J tune. The Carter Family did one called "There's no depression in heaven"?

Fri. 8/29/08 10:38am From: north guinea hills

Hugo, I love that Carter Family tune as well!

Fri. 8/29/08 10:41am From: stingy d

i'm a little late, but as far as obama goes: i'll beleive it when i see it. but it doesn't matter ebcause i'll have a good laugh when he loses

Fri. 8/29/08 10:52am From: gumby

Clarence Carter must have been one broke dude.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:02am From: Parq

I regret to say, my creeping fear that Stingy is right has kept me from feeling any elation over last night.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:06am From: Paul Sherratt

Obama ?
Someone should write a song about him ..

Fri. 8/29/08 11:07am From: gumby

Let the drum & horn love rain down.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:07am From: Carmichael

Why would you laugh, Stingy?

Fri. 8/29/08 11:10am From: stingy d

of course i'm right!
cocoa tea wrote an obama song
i would laugh, because i can't vote anyway

Fri. 8/29/08 11:16am From: Matt

I think Extra Golden also wrote a song about Obama.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:16am From: stingy d

i think also it woudl be humorous because everyone thinks there will be sweeping changes if obama wins. the knicks have a better chance of turning it around than the united states government,

Fri. 8/29/08 11:16am From: gumby

Powell=POW

Fri. 8/29/08 11:19am From: Carmichael

Reading between your lines Stingy, I sense you do not live here in the US?

Fri. 8/29/08 11:19am From: stingy d

did you know mccain picked a vp?

this alaskan governor dame

off shore drilling just won him 10 million votes

Fri. 8/29/08 11:20am From: gumby

I'm not overly optomistic about sweeping changes. I find the simple idea of moving the Amero-meter closer to the ideals of the Constitution to be appealing.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:21am From: Carmichael

The Constitutional ideals that have not yet been suspended, anyway ....

Fri. 8/29/08 11:21am From: Allan Clear

I don't believe people really think there will be sweeping changes. The war has ruined the economy and nothing much is going to change that in the short term. What we will get is a sense of optimism in the country and a little more accountability and honesty. And a move away from the current quasi fascist rule we have now.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:22am From: stingy d

this broad is pprrrrrreeeetttttyyyyyyy, lookin like mufcukin liz lemon over here, mccain just won the who's-better-looking votes

Fri. 8/29/08 11:24am From: Ike

I agree Gumby. Balance of power between gov't branches is ideal. The executive branch should not be able to rule with an iron fist. But overall, the condition of the country won't change much in the short term.

Palin DOES look like Liz Lemon doesn't she? She is also being investigated for possible abuse of power:

Fri. 8/29/08 11:25am From: stingy d

he's giot the fat dick votes, the off-shore drilling votes, the shooting a gun votes, the better looking votes, the snarky realism votes... what else is there!?!?! the grizzled vet votes? got em! the kill anyoen who fucks with me votes? check! mccain is gonna mop the floor with this palooka!

Fri. 8/29/08 11:27am From: weepy bzul

When when will my Friday mind be trained finally to remind me to access Wide Friday Morning Uplift earlier than this? The portion of playlist missed makes me the saddest scatterbrain under the yellow sun.
Will an Obama admin. square up my schedule cues? "Change" my mental engine oil?

Fri. 8/29/08 11:27am From: stingy d

hahahahah oooooh shit!
yo son! obama is black!! yea right, no waay, not once not never!

Fri. 8/29/08 11:27am From: Carmichael

Nice point, Allan. It seems to me to be a choice, in general terms, of 4 more years of the same or something completely different.

Are Americans mad enough that they want to change the entire style (and perhaps substance) of the next President, or are they so unsure enough about the challenger that they would prefer another lifelong Republican party man whose views are not that much different than those of the current President?

Fri. 8/29/08 11:29am From: Carmichael

Stingy, you have a lot of mouth for someone who can't vote. So your opinion doesn't really matter.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:29am From: Swami

McCain also got the "I'm a scared pussy" vote too. Praise Jeebus! McCAin has the "Oh no he's half black" vote, while Obama keeps the "half -white" party.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:29am From: stingy d

hey weepy! wake up earlier! you clearly do not work ahrd enough! mccain will reign!!!

Fri. 8/29/08 11:30am From: Carmichael

Our first troll ...

Fri. 8/29/08 11:31am From: stingy d

naaah , i can vote, i was just pulling your link there

Fri. 8/29/08 11:31am From: Sean Daily

The "I'm a scared pussy" vote. Gotta remember that, Swami.

And I think Stingy here'd fall into that demographic...

Fri. 8/29/08 11:33am From: stingy d

yo thats true, i am scared of being votey

Fri. 8/29/08 11:34am From: Parq

Carmichael, you're just now figuring that out? It's not like he's been subtle.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:35am From: Sean Daily

The moral of this story, people, is never post while high.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:35am From: north guinea hills

swami, you owe my employer a new keyboard. that was worthy of a lollacaust!

Fri. 8/29/08 11:35am From: stingy d

and i'm just conversatin man, ain't no danged nothin

ok ok ok you're rigth, obama... so much all the way

Fri. 8/29/08 11:35am From: JR

go ahead stingy, spend your $0.005 per gallon from offshore drillling. just as soon as you get it. several years from now

don't spend it all in one place!

Fri. 8/29/08 11:36am From: annie

yes, i did listen, not that i wanted to, but there was no music on the radio, just postulating. his speech reminded me alot of bill clinton's when he was running. he was all flowers and good and not even 24 hours into it, he turned lunatic. i like what obama has to say, i still don't trust him.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:36am From: north guinea hills

then again, i hate biden w/ fury of a thousand suns

Fri. 8/29/08 11:37am From: stingy d

i don't drive wo

Fri. 8/29/08 11:37am From: gumby

All's I know is after last nights speech, Mrs. Gumby is all hopped up to get the vote out for her guy.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:38am From: annie

stinks to high heaven

Fri. 8/29/08 11:39am From: stingy d

yo, annie, you're being a troll, you are supposed to not do that

Fri. 8/29/08 11:40am From: annie

how so? just speaking my mind

Fri. 8/29/08 11:41am From: Parq

Uh, how 'bout that Julie Coin? Y'know, someone should mention that the history factor just got ramped up exponentially. Without question, the country will have either a black or a woman in a top executive post next year.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:42am From: JR

concern troll. look it up.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:42am From: Paul Sherratt

Oh Usha Uthup !

Get's my vote

Fri. 8/29/08 11:43am From: Carmichael

Parq, I'm a little bit slow most times. But I like to think my shots are a little more accurate.

NGH, I don't exactly HATE Biden, but I agree he is emblematic of the problem in Washington, and not of the cure.

I don't know anything about this McCain VP, but the Repubs are already in strategy trouble. They can't hold a whoopfest in Minneapolis (with Bush speaking) while New Orleans takes it on the chin again from another hurricane, so they're considering re-scheduling.

McCain can't remember how many houses he owns, and he offers his wife to a biker gang wet T-shirt contest. Oh, and he was a POW; did you know that?!? I heard him say it last night. And the night before that. And the night before that.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:44am From: annie

in new york it matters not for whom i vote, so i will write-in for dennis kucinich

Fri. 8/29/08 11:44am From: Sean Daily

What Paul said and with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Love the Indian movie songs, Doug.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:45am From: north guinea hills

then again i can't wait for the veep debates......

Fri. 8/29/08 11:45am From: JR

I'm loving this soundtrack set too.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:45am From: gumby

Good point Parq. If nothing else the machinations of the game may have leapt us into a new consideration of race and gender in the US and how the rest of the world views our progress or lack thereof in that arena.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:46am From: Carmichael

I LOVED Kucinich's happy freak dance/speech, complete with "jazz hands" at the end. Did the camera mostly show his hot young wife, as is usually the case?

Fri. 8/29/08 11:46am From: annie

gumby: word

Fri. 8/29/08 11:47am From: Parq

There is no possibility -- none, zero, nada -- that two white men will be running the country next year. I can't help but think that's pretty damn cool.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:47am From: stingy d

yo i'm doing the whole speakign my mind thing too, but i get chastised. i'm in new york too, and i'm just not gonna vote. and kucinich was the only one who had whats the word for like when you're not a robotic presence in a public forum???

Fri. 8/29/08 11:47am From: mark m.

my vote won't matter here in Texas either. So it's straight Libertarian for me--let's get the government out of our lives

Fri. 8/29/08 11:48am From: north guinea hills

my main beef w/ biden his bed he has lain w/ the credit card industry.

but, he will chew up palin in the veep debates...

Fri. 8/29/08 11:49am From: Carmichael

That rocks, Parq. However, seeing the glass half-empty: what would the people say if we shuffled off the female to an "undisclosed location" for four years?

You think the female voters are pissed now, just wait.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:49am From: Sean Daily

I'm not chastising you, Stingy. I'm just disagreeing with you. There is a difference.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:49am From: annie

i'm assuming that mcain picked the veep?

Fri. 8/29/08 11:51am From: stingy d

i agree wtih mark!
its cool sean daily! we are freinds
mccain picked a hot dame!!!!

Fri. 8/29/08 11:52am From: north guinea hills

i seriously doubt that mccain has met palin in person (until maybe the last week)

Fri. 8/29/08 11:52am From: stingy d

annie, her name is liz lemon.
http://politicalkudzu.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/sarah-palin-1.jpg
she is the governor of alaska

Fri. 8/29/08 11:52am From: gumby

Mrs. Biden looked kinda loaded to me last night.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:53am From: Sean Daily

I'd LIKE to get government out of my life. Problem is, I kinda like flush toilets and highways and clean water to drink. Kinda hard to have those without government.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:54am From: annie

just looking at NYT online... wow, he picked a woman!! tough fight ahead..

Fri. 8/29/08 11:54am From: Carmichael

I don't understand why you guys think your vote doesn't matter. Just make an informed choice is all I ask. Don't listen to the radio/TV pundits. Evaluate honestly and vote your conscience. Screw everyone else.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:55am From: gumby

excellent point Carmichael

Fri. 8/29/08 11:56am From: Parq

Keep up with us, Annische, we got a lot of ground to cover and just four minutes left to do it.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:56am From: stingy d

not for nothing and not to be a concern troll
but i don't see any real difference in any of these people, cus they are all blow-hards, so my informed choice, is to wash my hands of it all

Fri. 8/29/08 11:56am From: gumby

Hoorah for Bollywood. Thanks Doug, have a good week

Fri. 8/29/08 11:57am From: annie

what the hell is a troll?

Fri. 8/29/08 11:58am From: Carmichael

My wife: I would never vote for McCain. I disagree with him on almost every major issue.

Me: Who are you voting for?

Wife: Hillary!!!

Me: Is she more in line with your views?

Wife: She's a woman!?!?!?!?!?!

But what about her stance on offshore drilling, credit card reform, tax reform, etc ...?

Wife: ?!?! She's a WOMAN!!!

Fri. 8/29/08 11:59am From: Hugo

With the government out of the way, there would presumably be less than 2.3 million people incarcerated in the US which is less than 1 per cent of the population. Unbelievable! Nope, I don't see governmentality disappearing any time soon.

Fri. 8/29/08 11:59am From: stingy d

its when i say somethign to try and tear you apart and make you angry/upset/whatever

yo i'm saying tho, the proverbial wool is over the collectvie eyes, democrats and republicans are mad illegal with it

Fri. 8/29/08 12:00pm From: Carmichael

To be honest Stingy, I'd rather that someone not vote at all than vote AGAINST a candidate. I've heard the argument for years that you HAVE to vote to keep someone out of office.

People don't seem to realize that you can only vote FOR someone.

Sat. 8/30/08 11:34am From: Lenny

hello Doug I am a constant listener of your show and I am a artist too. And I am presntly working on serveral illustrations that deal with Obama .
