Mon. 8/11/08 9:16am Bsd Ronald:

Surpassing Loveliness!!

Mon. 8/11/08 9:16am Negator:

Stream is down. Would like to my wife in that space costume.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:17am bw:

'morning all and all

whats up with the stream? anything I can kick or shout at?

Mon. 8/11/08 9:18am Negator:

ICY 401 Service Unavailable

Mon. 8/11/08 9:19am Bad Ronald:

[128k MP3] - down

Mon. 8/11/08 9:19am Jim:

For me it just says WMP can't play the file.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:20am kevin:

I saved the 32k stream to my desktop and fired it up in realplayer. that got'er goin.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:20am Negator:

32k Stream working

Mon. 8/11/08 9:20am bw:

Damn - Im sorry everyone

will see what I can do about it

Mon. 8/11/08 9:22am Jim:

I'm stuck with using WMP at work, b/c that's the only program they let us install. If that don't work, I'm assed. I'll just read the titles and make up my own songs.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:23am bw:

Liz B just showed up and assured me that SHE will fix it!!

Mon. 8/11/08 9:26am moon boy:

can't MOON GIRL fix it?

Mon. 8/11/08 9:28am R. P.:

Kevin - thanks for the advice. It's working for me.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:29am GP:

I know you are working on this but the 20k Windows Stream is not working either..for a minute there I thought my IT dept finally figured me out and cut me off..noooooooooo...
Like Jim, WMP is the only thing that I can use at the office.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:32am Negator:

ALL streams are now dead. Liz B fixed it alright!

Mon. 8/11/08 9:33am Jim:

Well that's only fair.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:39am Ike:

Jim and GP: Not that it'll help until the streams go back up, but I was able to install Foobar2000 on my locked-down work computer, even though I had *NO* admin rights. It plays any stream. You should see if it'll work on yours, too. Then you don't have to suffer the evil Windows MP audio quality.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:40am JJZ:

I am hearing stream, I think.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:40am JJZ:

It claims to be Talk's Cheap with Jason Sigal, but there's noise.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:44am Bad Ronald:

I hear sumpin... I think it's Vaclav Nelhybel

Mon. 8/11/08 9:45am bw:

did moon girl fix it??

Mon. 8/11/08 9:45am GP:

Ike,
Thanks for the info. I just tried it and it was a NO GO, they really have us locked down...I really need to design or find a Firefox media player plug-in that is not Windows Media Player. I think having the FFOX plugin is one way around a locked down system but I am not sure.

Mon. 8/11/08 9:45am Bad Ronald:

yes with Surpassing Loveliness!!

Mon. 8/11/08 9:47am GP:

Not yet BW, at least on the 20k Windows stream..still nothin

Mon. 8/11/08 9:50am Bad Ronald:

I got [128k MP3] on iTunes...

Mon. 8/11/08 9:51am Liz B.:

Looks like I've resurrected 128k and 32k MP3 streams and the Ogg stream, but the computer is saying "catastrophic error" for real and windows streams, so I'm thinking this might require a cup of coffee. Oh wait Doron is here with his surgeon mask...

Mon. 8/11/08 9:56am bw:

go LIZ!

Mon. 8/11/08 9:59am Liz B.:

For anyone in need of a low bit-rate alternative to the MP3 stream, try AAC+
http://wfmu.org/wfmu_aacplus.pls
(works great with VLC Media Player, freeware -
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)

Mon. 8/11/08 10:00am Moon Boy:

Liz really IS Moon Girl!

Mon. 8/11/08 10:01am GP:

CURSE YOU Microsoft Corporation (shakes fist in air)...If I had a nickel for every time that oath is raised in a day..well I'd probably have more money than Bill Gates....

Mon. 8/11/08 10:02am doron:

windows stream is back...

Mon. 8/11/08 10:03am GP:

It is indeed....Thank you to Liz and Doron...Windows stream working just fine now

Mon. 8/11/08 10:04am Ike:

Liz is wise. AAC+ stream sounds good on Foobar2000 although the current song info seems to be a bit off.

GP, I had to try it a couple of times. It installed the second time. I had to uncheck a box that said virus-something-or-other.

Mon. 8/11/08 10:06am doron:

GP: totally unsupported and just something we were messing around with but this might help: http://wfmu.org/player/

hit the play button.

Ike: current song info was down for a bit while looking at other things.

Mon. 8/11/08 10:06am doron:

...and Ben, sorry for more talk of windows media. I'm all for bringing back that summer reading thread.

Mon. 8/11/08 10:08am guiko:

Glad The Ex are not the ex-The Ex yet.

Mon. 8/11/08 10:14am GP:

Doron,
That standalone did not work for me , but the windows stream is still working fine for now. The BBC used to have an awesome stand alone player that would play their live stuff and also their archives, but in a boneheaded move they abandoned it for Real Player...arghhhhh! And now....."Music Please"

Mon. 8/11/08 10:25am north guinea hills:

ahhh..., the lab, my favorite contemporary pop groop

Mon. 8/11/08 10:29am Jim:

They're not pop, silly.

Mon. 8/11/08 10:30am GP:

Moon girl wants to go to Uzbekistan?

Mon. 8/11/08 10:39am north guinea hills:

by jove, GP must be the only other person in the universe that knows that samarkand is an ancient silk road city located in uzbekistan....... good show of geography there, GP!

Mon. 8/11/08 10:40am Jim:

Oh cool it's working. And something pretty cool is on!

Mon. 8/11/08 10:41am GP:

I didn't even know they had a space program?

Mon. 8/11/08 10:43am Ike:

NGH, I had to look up the location of Samarkand recently because this evil company is squatting on some even URL with "Samarkand" in it. Like "Samarkand-travel.com" or something. No wait, that's not it. I was guessing Iran, so I was wrong.

I hate this job.

Mon. 8/11/08 10:47am Ike:

Oops, that's "evil URL" not "even URL."

We just got loud thunder and hail here near Grand Central. Zeus is expressing his disapproval towards evil web squatters and the dullness of midtown, methinks.

Mon. 8/11/08 10:47am GP:

Had to look it up as well, name sounded familiar, but did not know actual location...Queen of Venus = HOT!
"Undoubtedly"

Mon. 8/11/08 10:47am Glenn L:

Wow Fly Ashtray!

Thanks Benjamen! You just made my day!
Track 1's called Multicragg btw

Mon. 8/11/08 10:51am Jim:

Nice. This song would be real cool if it had any melody. Heh.

Mon. 8/11/08 10:52am north guinea hills:

i just know samarkand is what the british called the mountain range the goes from pakistan through kyrzikistan into uzbekistan and it was one of the towns marco polo stopped through. i read too much national geographic as a kid....

Mon. 8/11/08 11:09am bw:

ok Doron, books are great but if your work blocks out WFMU - ouch - that is something to talk about

but that said I am reading an amazing history of Prohibition called Dry Manhattan by Michael Lerner

Mon. 8/11/08 11:15am north guinea hills:

prohibition in nyc, fasicnating read indeed....

Mon. 8/11/08 11:17am John Curran:

Ben Walker! It's good to hear you back on the air. Do you remember me? I read for the DeeJay episode on YRNL.

Mon. 8/11/08 11:17am bw:

anyone else got anything to recommend?

Mon. 8/11/08 11:18am bw:

i never forget anyone ever ever ever.. where did we meet? just kidding

Mon. 8/11/08 11:21am Parq:

Tuning in now on WMP, sounds fine. I also would like to see Negator's wife in that outfit. Just kidding, Neg, put down that sawed-off.

Mon. 8/11/08 11:24am GP:

Ladytron - Thanks BW

Mon. 8/11/08 11:28am Amar:

ben, play some thunderstorm music.

Mon. 8/11/08 11:32am cb:

How about 'Dry The Rain' by the Beta Band for thunderstorm music?

Mon. 8/11/08 11:41am mitts:

Mon. 8/11/08 11:46am max:

Mon. 8/11/08 11:47am bw:
