Glad to find you on summer schedule at your usual time Rob. Your timeslot fits the mood, and you program the best world music show I've ever experienced bar none! Keep it up!

Thanks db. I'm glad you feel that way. I've kind of settled into this slot and it also works nicely for the remotes we do from Barbes (and perhaps elsewhere in the future). But as you know the schedule shuffles a couple of times a year and we're always bringing in new blood, so you never know, I may wind up somewhere else down sometime down the road. But other than a few social-calendar and concert sacrifices, I've grown to like this slot quite a bit.

Yeah, good point Tom. Why no TPSP podcast? About half of my 'FMU listen is done on ipod. I/we should email Ken with that question/request for a Trans Pacific Sound Podcast.

Regarding podcasts: Thanks for the interest - but regular freeform slots on FMU can't podcast because of music rights issues. Most of the FMU shows that podcast generally don't rely heavily on recorded music.

Global beat of the Boroughs is one of the awesome CDs of our time. I knew I heard "charanga completa" before but I didn't realize where it was from until you announced it. I got the CD with my annual contrib to a roots cultural organization Citilore (maybe Citylore). During their reasearch they discovered that an inordinate number of famous salsa musicians came from one public school in the South Bronx and organized a reunion concert.. Ray Barreto flew in from wherever he was. Someone else came up from PR. Manny Oquendo took the subway from Queens.

Very interesting... thanks Bob. And yep, it's Citylore - http://www.citylore.org if anyone's curious. Global Beat of the Boroughs was co-produced by the Center for Traditional Music And Dance, another great grassroots org. in NYC, http://www.ctmd.org.

Audio quiz question answer: Henry Kissinger. I know, that was pretty easy. Congratulations to our winners...
