Sun. 5/11/08 10:05pm From: john

this piece is stunning. Further comment would be superfluous.

Sun. 5/11/08 10:21pm From: Dan

I'm not sure which piece John is referring to above as I just now tuned in...But the Roberts/Ducret/Black piece playing presently is exquisite!

Sun. 5/11/08 10:30pm From: john

Oops. Sorry. I meant the Bassett. Catch it on the archive. It's rare these days that a piece of "serious" music written in my lifetime and which I've never heard before leaves me speechless. Too bad I'm not 300 years old, so I could say that about this new-fangled Handel stuff. I guess it's all relative, in an absolute sense.

Sun. 5/11/08 10:37pm From: dave

oooooh, man do i love william basinski. i just finally picked up the first disintegration loops, and now i'm resigned to buying all of them.

Sun. 5/11/08 10:41pm From: will

Is that mellotron being played here...lovely...WJ

Sun. 5/11/08 10:49pm From: Dan

Thanks, John, for the clarification. Btw, some of my closest relatives are absolutists.

Sun. 5/11/08 10:51pm From: Dan

This Valet piece is awesome also!

Sun. 5/11/08 10:56pm From: dave

ok, so is there anything BAD on the ambient not ambient comp? just askin'.

Sun. 5/11/08 11:01pm From: dave

it was mostly a rhetorical question. i've already gone and ordered my copy.

Sun. 5/11/08 11:02pm From: john

And some of my closet absolutes are related.

Sun. 5/11/08 11:12pm From: Tom

I'm not wondering why I gave the Cello up - it's such and "intense" string instrument , gives sunshine , night and rainy days all at once , and I love this piece Bethany and the whole radio show since 9pm as well ...

Sun. 5/11/08 11:15pm From: dave

i'm going to take a flyer and say you gave it up because it is intense, beautiful, evocative of various weather patterns, and INSANELY DIFFICULT, FRUSTRATING, AND EXPENSIVE.

Sun. 5/11/08 11:55pm From: Slavek

Hello, this is my first time at this radio and I am really happy I have found my way here. Thanks to everyone at WFMU for doing this. I wish you all the best.
