Listener comments!

  6:03am
Ryan:

And lo, my eyes opened to the light; it was Hot Rod, with a sword of blazing fire and an aura of musical malice.

Morning all!
  6:13am
(mta) Tony:

I can't read a thing...
with this color scheme!
Please change it back to anything else!
  6:26am
marionfrenchie:

hello!
what's the animation? dancers? Love it!
  6:58am
HotRod:

HEY RYAN!!! I LOVE IT!!! :)

You're totally right, (mta) Tony. Refresh and see what you think of the text color now.
  7:03am
HotRod:

Hi marionfrenchie! Dancers? I guess you can call them that...
  7:05am
Ryan:

Dancing? I thought it was a man's head getting taught a serious lesson about gravity.
  7:08am
marionfrenchie:

I don't know, I find it very gracious...maybe cause of the speed, or the repetition...
good music HotRod! thanks!
  7:15am
london chris (one of them..):

hi HR, went to see Wildbirds & Peacedrums after hearing them on your show last week. A-MAZING show, and a really nice intimate venue. So - thanks! Highly recommended to one and all..
  7:17am
HotRod:

Wow! That's amazing, Chris!

Has anyone else gone to any good shows recently?
  7:26am
yenvalmar:

god damn its hard to find this live comment thing- thats probably why i never bothered before. but since i was ordered. i am working very late/early in seattle and the beatz are keeping me alive.
  7:28am
marionfrenchie:

welcome to the live comment club Yenvalmar, where everything can happen!
no a lot of good shows around here I can mention :( HotRod...
  7:30am
yenvalmar:

they need to put a button right on the main page that says COMMENT ON THE LIVE SHOW. or would that make it too accessible?
  7:31am
listener jeremy:

i saw kid koala here in DC a few months back. sweet show. also saw russian circles very recently. good stuff
  7:32am
yenvalmar:

i found this by googling hot rods playlist then going through to the current date, as i wasted a good 5 minutes of my precious time trying to find it thru the real fmu page. the lengths i go to support this station
  7:33am
HotRod:

Yes! Welcome Yenvalmar!!!

Going to the main WFMU homepage and clicking on SEE THE PLAYLIST is just that. That allows you to comment on the show that's currently airing, assuming the DJ enables commenting.
  7:36am
yenvalmar:

aha! well, speaking for dumbasses everywhere thats not INCREDIBLY intuitive but then since when does FMU pander to the lowest common denominator. now im in the club, pity those uneducated louts in the great unwashed!
  7:36am
HotRod:

Hey Jeremy!!!

Who else is out there??? Reveal yourselves!!!
  7:37am
listener jeremy:

late night parking in seattle $10
chinese food $13
two cokes and a bag of cheetos $2.50

spending five minutes to find hotrods playlist... priceless
  7:38am
HotRod:

Where are you from, yenvalmar?
  7:39am
HotRod:

Jeremy! You're the best! Hahaha!!!
  7:41am
yenvalmar:

originally baltimore.. i found out about fmu visiting friends in ny back in the day, then the web thing came along so i listen online all the time for the past several years..

thats pretty much how it is, yeah, very nice mise en scene there jeremy. cold pizza tonight tho.
  7:55am
marionfrenchie:

pizza! yeah! I'm making my own tonight, and it's gonna be good!!!
  7:59am
listener jeremy:

no pizza for me. tonight, i'm going to bbq some chicken that's been marinating for a few days. and then throw it on a salad. hopefully the wood i had set aside in the grill isn't soaked with all the rain we've gotten... but it probably is.
  8:03am
london chris (the same one):

mmm, bbq.. we had literally about two days of summer last year, so I'm hoping for a ton of bbqs this time round! may your wood be dry. (...?)
  8:07am
Ryan:

Calamari tempura: the tastiest of fried snacks?

Also, where everyone is from? We have a lonely comment board today. ='(
  8:07am
Ryan:

No wonder, my browser stopped refreshing! >.<
  8:08am
listener jeremy:

thanks. the bbq i have is not propane. in addition to charcoal, i like have wood in there for flavor and hey it's free. and easily accessible .works well, as long as it's dry!
  8:12am
listener jeremy:

fried calamari i would definately have in the top five. might be second only to a fried onion (some places have it as the bloomin onion) there are other names for it, and all of them are seriously unhealthy, but oh so good.
  8:13am
Ryan:

It would definitely accompany some fine barbecued chicken and perhaps a brownish ale. What sort of glaze are you using with your chicken, because this meal calls for some mushrooms, at least in my mind.
  8:16am
listener jeremy:

this is going to be more of a light meal - the chicken is marinating in a lemon and herbs marinade. will go great with a salad (of which some fresh mushrooms may very well find a home, per your fine recommendation.) beer? anything dark, anytime. that's my general rule of thumb.
  8:18am
listener jeremy:

i'm cooking chicken breasts btw, not wings or thighs. the wings were last week
  8:20am
listener jeremy:

anyone else going to bbq tonight now? :-p
  8:21am
Ryan:

Ahh, I spose that is less of what I was thinking. Still sounds very tasty. You may want to fry your mushrooms a bit less than mine as well.

And as far as dark beers go, may I recommend Great Lake Black Out Ale. Its as dark as they come and one bottle with have your wont for alcohol sated.
  8:22am
Ryan:

I would, but working 10-7 usually means I pack two lunches. =\
  8:23am
catpatz:

am going to try and grill up some burgers while making sangria----hopefully the sun will stay out a few more hours
  8:27am
HotRod:

Any vegetarians out there?
  8:30am
Ryan:

I try to eat organically wherever I can, but my love for fried cephalopods is to great to be stifled by leafy things.
  8:31am
listener jeremy:

cephalopods... had to look that one up. learn something new every day
  8:37am
Ryan:

I will say that vegetarians got lasagna right though. I prefer vegetarian lasagna to just about every other pasta existing today.
  8:41am
listener jeremy:

the is qualifies as the longest song i've heard the entire month
  8:43am
marionfrenchie:

I just ate lunch, and you are exiting my papillae with all the kitchen talk... I'm gonna have to snack again! what a bad influence!
  8:44am
Ryan:

We Try. ;)
  8:48am
HotRod:

Damn right we got lasagna right! The only animals I eat are from the sea, but as far as cephalopods go...I would NEVER eat a cuttlefish. Such amazing beings!!! I'm trying to find a video link to an amazing documentary (Kings of Camouflage) about this three-hearted creature. See you all next week!!!
  8:50am
listener jeremy:

you still got 10 minutes!!! where you going? we're not listening to JM, are we??
  8:51am
Ryan:

"The heavens split,
Three Kings proclaim
Farewell, HotRod
We'll meet again!"

Later.
  8:51am
marionfrenchie:

thanks for rocking my lunch! and my snack ;)
glad radio action made you feel better!
