Listener comments!

Tue. 4/1/08 9:04am JJZ:

Happy "Don't Trust the Internet" Day.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:15am Hatch:

Same to you, friend.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:22am Dei xhrist:

actually that other web site looks kind of intriguing, what with the Night Nurse wounds all heels bit. A lovely listening space today.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:29am Laura:

Loving the show today Hatch, it's a whole new direction for you! Love the street sounds.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:32am JJZ:

The KJFC page seems more of a pain to get to the real page, because I can't seem to click on the picture to advance to the real home page.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:33am Hatch:

Thanks Laura.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:34am uncle al:

All go in SF

have fun

thx for the flowerpot men

--kfjc eng

Tue. 4/1/08 9:37am North Guineau Rehab:

The playlist is totally out of sequence today. Anybody else experiencing this?

Tue. 4/1/08 9:38am north guinea hills:

i may not go back to wfmu again, this is awesome!

Tue. 4/1/08 9:39am JJZ:

Yeah, it's an interesting change of pace.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:39am Dickdong (UK):

Nosmo King, 19th Century Music Hall Artiste. See Wikipedia, H Vernon Watson. Like the new front page but are you trying to take me for a fool?

Tue. 4/1/08 9:39am jonathan:

the pods have taken over.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:40am momo:

wfmu is no longer firewalled at work! huzzah

Tue. 4/1/08 9:42am JJZ:

The mp3 stream is on port 80, I think, so it's fairly firewall friendly.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:43am another old man:

the new DJ's voice sounds vaguely NCP 'ZBC-ish.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:44am lonnie:

we have a local sports talk radio station here in youngstown that sometimes has "technical difficulties" and will sound like this for hours at a time. i sit and listen to it for hours at a time (like an idiot), so this is nothing new for me. in fact, kfjc can be the sister-station

Tue. 4/1/08 9:45am Hatch:

Was ist das NCP ZBC?

Tue. 4/1/08 9:49am dei x:

my toilet runs, refrigerator hums, oil burner fires up, and cars go by - if I were at home with Sly Dunbar I would have a complete symphony of ambient joy. But I'm at work rocking out to KJFC, the home of the blown out subwoofer.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:50am dei x:

(air organ riff)

Tue. 4/1/08 9:50am another old man:

NCP ZBC: an organization founded by Gary Geiserman, Peter Choyce and Off the Cuff George

Tue. 4/1/08 9:54am Hatch:

I'll bet Sly Dunbar appreciated blown-out subwoofers as much as anybody.

Tue. 4/1/08 9:58am pat:

wow, very freakin confusing. I gotta hand it to you guys, good one... but I think I'll get the right feed now...

Tue. 4/1/08 9:59am Listener Dave from NH:

I'll cop to it - when I tuned in and was hearing the musique concrete and other errata and it was claiming to be Hatch's show, I was confused. When the station ID said KJFC, I was scratching my head even more.
When I went to the home page, I had a moment of animal panic - where the hell is my WFMU? How the hell could they blindside me with this, like when that classical station turned to a hard rock format overnight?
Then I clicked the image. Bloops.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:01am lang:

direct me to the right feed please

Tue. 4/1/08 10:01am g:

anybody else having trouble getting the KFJC stream?

for a really good time, try KJFC.org

Tue. 4/1/08 10:02am kent goldings:

hey g,
google kjfc netcast and you should find it

Tue. 4/1/08 10:02am Lang:

this is like war of the worlds people are gonna start jumping out of windows!

Tue. 4/1/08 10:05am g:

Kent: I get to the page, but the stream won't load on my machine--just wondering if it's only me, or if others are having problems with it . . .

Tue. 4/1/08 10:06am pat:

I have firefox/linux and I'm not having any trouble -- try the .m3u feed

Tue. 4/1/08 10:06am kent goldings:

oh! windows media player is working fine from here

Tue. 4/1/08 10:08am d:

Tue. 4/1/08 10:10am leo.:

Tue. 4/1/08 10:10am dave:

THE TRIPODS ARE COMING!

Tue. 4/1/08 10:12am leo.:

Tue. 4/1/08 10:12am Wes:

You're not the only one...I can't get the audio to load up either. Using WMP. I suppose I'll just listen to this gibberish all day.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:13am leo.:

oh i can get the waves via .net - but sfl's fm taste in music . Sucks

Tue. 4/1/08 10:14am pat:

well it seems fmu beats kfjc on web feeds. Makes you appreciate how much fmu has it together.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:16am leo.:

omy, i love this bass

Tue. 4/1/08 10:16am St.Even:

Like Wal-Mart having a new NASCAR series toothbrush, I must say JOKE COMPLETED!

Tue. 4/1/08 10:17am Hans:

Is it OK to leave notes here if I can only hear KVJC? I am confuzzed.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:17am Hatch:

Nascar toothbrushes are no joke:

http://store.nascar.com/sm-toothbrushes--fi-2132544_cp-1251988.2040217.html

Tue. 4/1/08 10:18am leo.:

but the snare is killing it

Tue. 4/1/08 10:19am pat:

this is great--total confusion. I hope this lasts all day..Hatch, you should start playing what they're playing on kfjc just to make it more confusing...

Tue. 4/1/08 10:19am lonnie:

hatch, do you know if pita is still around? i haven't heard anything new from them in a few years

Tue. 4/1/08 10:19am Cecile:

What the hell is up with today's homepage? April Fool's joke?

Tue. 4/1/08 10:21am Cecile:

Yay! You played Paul Metzger! Good, good, guy.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:21am Hatch:

Pita (one guy) is still around, he just uses his own name now, Peter Rehberg.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:22am Hatch:

And he has a duo called KTL with one of the dudes from Sunn O))).

Tue. 4/1/08 10:23am Cecile:

I saw Sunn O))) at the Walker a few years back.

Some of the best sleep I ever got. Funny, cause I like their records.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:24am pat:

kjfc has a requirement that dj's play 35% material acquired in the last 8 weeks. I think that's pretty fascistic.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:24am annie:

how long has pita been around? the voice is very familiar. since 1982 or so? and is all the stuff very dark like that? thanks..

Tue. 4/1/08 10:25am jtm:

I have to say that KFJC sounds good for 730 in the morning.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:26am Hatch:

No vocals on the Pita track, Annie.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:26am Cecile:

Hey, where are you Hatch? I am confuzzled.

I just heard Evangelista, but it's not on your playlist.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:27am Brendan:

Finally! Both our favorite radio stations available over the air! Well, okay, KFJC only on the interwebs for now, but what a perfect pairing y'all are.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:29am annie:

ok, there was a vocal bit/narration thing.. about ten or so minutes ago....woman's voice...

Tue. 4/1/08 10:31am dave:

oh NOW I get it!
Best Aril 1 gag since forever.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:32am Cecile:

I am falling asleep with this program guide.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:33am Tom Scharpling:

Oh please don't tell me we're upstairs today. Please please please. I love you Hatch!

Tue. 4/1/08 10:34am Goldilox:

I can't figure out how to stream fmu! The joke's on me!!

Tue. 4/1/08 10:34am Cecile:

me too, man

Tue. 4/1/08 10:35am pat:

Hatch: you have tomatoes out already??

Tue. 4/1/08 10:36am Cecile:

Ahhhh, much better. No more "mayhem"

Tue. 4/1/08 10:37am Hatch:

No, but I will (relatively) soon. Gonna have to lay out a deadly blend of cat food and rat poison in the yard.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:38am annie:

any feedback on that one tune with the woman talking/singing? about 15 or so minutes ago..

Tue. 4/1/08 10:38am pat:

cats are good, man. We have one that eats all the rats *crunch, crunch*. you gotta choose: cats or rats.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:39am Wes:

Sorry, FMU...your April Fools Day joke has backfired...I'm now a convert to KJFC....KJFC ROCKS!!!!! I'm now a full fledged member and die-hard fan.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:39am pat:

annie, go here: http://www.kfjc.org/md/pl/current_playlist.php

Tue. 4/1/08 10:41am annie:

i have it up but have no idea what it was or how to pinpoint the right tune...

Tue. 4/1/08 10:43am annie:

was it evangelista?

Tue. 4/1/08 10:43am Cecile:

whoops, I thought i had it.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:45am kent goldings:

annie, i'm sure zoltan would be happy to help you out - zoltan@kfjc.org

Tue. 4/1/08 10:46am annie:

thanks-it might be the answer to a 30-year old question...... if it is.....you win and I win!!

Tue. 4/1/08 10:46am Wes:

zoltan! King of the Gargoths! (....is no Hatch)

Tue. 4/1/08 10:46am tallpaul:

KJFC sounds like Kentucky Jerk Fried Chicken or a lesser known football team (soccer to you). I'll be sticking with woof moo thanks. Liverpool, England is listening!

Tue. 4/1/08 10:47am uncle al:

just asked, it was polly moller

Tue. 4/1/08 10:49am dei x:

I don't recognize a single name on this playlist aside from Crowley, so I don't know if the actual/virtual playlists are the same. But Hatch is such a gentleman he wouldn't pull a simple prank like that. He's more a superglue-in-the-keyhole kinda guy.

Tue. 4/1/08 10:50am annie:

it's like playing multiple cards in bingo!!!

Tue. 4/1/08 10:50am dei x:

OK I recognize Jessica Rylan... I am in New England after all...

Tue. 4/1/08 11:01am Jonathan Steinke:

The show is tight!

Tue. 4/1/08 11:02am annie:

general question: who remembers whfs/maryland's last day on the air??

Tue. 4/1/08 11:05am St.Even:

The real KFJC show that's on right now sounds like a show for pill heads. WFMU is so much more fun.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:08am Hatch:

Show some respect for the pill heads, folks.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:09am lonnie:

i prefer the old-timey "hop heads"

Tue. 4/1/08 11:10am Wes:

They have played one good piece of music thus far, the rest has been the sounds Satan would make if he had horrible indigestion.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:12am St.Even:

I like it I'm just sayin it sounds like some kinda specialty show. Not a really diverse mix..

Tue. 4/1/08 11:13am Dickdong:

I listen to wfmu mainly to drown out the sound of the buses that wait outside my shop with their engines running. I have to say KFJC does a much better job. I'm going to stick to KFJC - if it's still here tomorrow ....

Tue. 4/1/08 11:15am Wes:

Anyone can play two chords on a phased out guitar over and over...where else are you going to hear Motown Meltdown???

Tue. 4/1/08 11:18am Hatch:

For sure, Motown Meltdown is definitely one of those precious "only on WFMU" records.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:22am Paul Metzger:

Give me WFMU any day.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:23am Cecile:

Hey, Paul!!!!!

Tue. 4/1/08 11:24am I am hungover:

Can someone just tell me how to listen to FMU? I am too hungover to figure any of this out.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:25am Cecile:

Look at the date, hungover.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:25am Hatch:

Thanks very much Paul. Played you earlier, in a posthumous duet with Aleister Crowley,

Tue. 4/1/08 11:25am ciaran:

yeah im confused!

Tue. 4/1/08 11:28am Cecile:

Email the stream team, ahhhhhh, pure uncut 'FMU again.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:28am St.Even:

Hungover:First scare up some Menudo. Then throw in some Red Herring...

Tue. 4/1/08 11:32am jtm:

I like Trinity but Maybelline sounds like a beeyatch.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:32am maggie:

Tue. 4/1/08 11:33am St.Even:

Hatch, could you play some FRIENDS FOREVER, CROM, JAMES PANTS,BAR-KAYS, and any other records I don't have that I want?

Tue. 4/1/08 11:33am Hatch:

It's note "potie" as in "boatie?"

Tue. 4/1/08 11:37am dei x:

I've dreamt of zombies the past two mornings. What do zombies dream of?

Tue. 4/1/08 11:38am annie:

Tue. 4/1/08 11:45am Cecile:

I was thinking some Bloodrock or Sugarloaf.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:46am St.Even:

HELL YEAH SUGARLOAF! DENVER!!!!!

Tue. 4/1/08 11:49am Tom:

.... I"m confused here now... I gotta now change my HomePage BOOHOO WFMU was it for so long ..WTF is going on here or am I being Spammed by the "Left" Coast

Tue. 4/1/08 11:50am Cecile:

Sugarloaf did the best, drugged out version of "Train Kept A Rollin'" evah. The Ghoul used to play it during his shows, according to my husband.

Tue. 4/1/08 11:52am Tom:

..This is REALLY a BAD JOKE...

Tue. 4/1/08 11:53am Cecile:

visit here.
Try this for the 'fmu stream:

Tue. 4/1/08 11:55am pat:

this joke RULES! Gimme more confusion!!

Tue. 4/1/08 11:55am ciaran:

woo hoo thanks!

Tue. 4/1/08 11:58am Kevin from BayRidge:

Funny thing is...This makes me appreciate FMU that much more!...But I do love the switch!

Tue. 4/1/08 11:59am Tom:

..e-mail Brian now ...

Tue. 4/1/08 12:01pm north guinea hills:

at least they pick a great station to switch w/.......

Tue. 4/1/08 1:01pm Ike:

I love Zoltan! Zoltan doesn't play hippie music! HA!

Annie: Regarding your WHFS comment: I remember when HFS was good, back around 1991. They introduced me to P.J. Harvey. Ahhh, the days when a commercial station could actually be good! I'm sure their "last day" wasn't worth remembering -- probably full of Matchbox 20 and overplayed RHCP songs etc.

Tue. 4/1/08 3:33pm KFJC DJ:

"fascistic"? That's a somewhat uninformed opinion.
As a DJ, I WANT to do at least 35% of my show from the "current" library. KFJC adds so much ridiculously cool stuff every week, any DJ with a clue is happy to use 8 weeks worth of it when putting together a show.

"...From: pat
kjfc has a requirement that dj's play 35% material acquired in the last 8 weeks. I think that's pretty fascistic..."

Tue. 4/1/08 5:01pm Hatch:

Nobody tells us how much to play from the WFMU new bin, true. But I'd guess my shows are usually at least 70% material acquired by the station in the last 8 weeks. If Brian or Ken told us we had to meet a 35% quota, most of us wouldn't have to change our shows at all.

Tue. 4/1/08 7:35pm more music please:

yeah wfmu djs talk too much

Tue. 4/1/08 9:55pm KFJC DJ:

Yeah, I never worry about making a minimum of 35% new stuff when I do a show. I usually play 60-70% new stuff just by accident. KFJC wants to feature the latest things added to the library for a few weeks, and 8 weeks worth is like 250-400 releases. Plenty of variety. Hey Hatch, I dug your show this morning. First time listener on the west coast.
